  1. I'm really glad the royals decided to give Jeff Keppinger his first career at bat against Johan Santana with a man on third and one out against in a 1 run game
  2. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) Note to file: my preseason prediction for Brian's average was .237. Perhaps he will surpass that. There was one of those pre-season twenty questions posts... I recall that one said: True or False: Brian Anderson will hit about .275. I used to be ashamed that i said true.... Now, it at least looks feasible for next year
  3. Maybe its time to switch Pods and Anderson in the order...
  4. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 01:55 PM) ha, Farmio just said that BA was nearing a .337 average. i wish. Well technically, he is moving in that direction...
  5. The sweet swinging Esteban German just homered of some chucker for the twins named Johan Santana... 1-1
  6. Bonderman doesn't appear to have it against the yanks... he gave up eight hits in the first four innings and arod just doubled to start the 5th
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 11:12 AM) lol. That made me laugh. I can't tell you how many times I was in there... I still have a John Cangelosi autograph from when I met him there... BTW I am turning 33 in December. yeah... I'm 26, so you had a couple years on me. Your story is interesting to me though. Every time I ever heard a story about McCuddy's people always bring up that the players used to go there after games. Its actually kind of wierd to think that guys from the team would just cross the street and have a couple beers. That doesn's seem to happen nowadays.
  8. QUOTE(Pale Hose Jon @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) While i dont know if she would win in the US. It is a common fact that if in a jury rial you bring out the fact that your sexual life has been affected by an accident, that the jury will award you more money. Yes it is... its called loss of consortium. As an interesting social question, how much is loss of consortium worth to you guys? I mean, how much would you take to never have sex again? I've often wondered what juries discuss when they have a loss of consortium claim... If some drunk driver or other idiot cause me to be unable to have sex, I would sue and demand the earth, moon, stars and sun.
  9. I heard Brandmeier on the radio this morning trying to get that immigrant lady shacked up in that church to move her base to Jimbo's... to try and keep it from closing. funny stuff QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 10:19 AM) McCuddy's and Danny O'Brien's where 10x the bar that Jimbo's ever was. That is not a knock on Jimbo's but those two joints were great. Still, tis a shame. I always thought that somebody wanting to make a fortune would re-open another McCuddy's by the ballpark. It was never old enough to go in there, but I remember walking by and it always was jammed. When the sox were talking about opening beer tents outside the field to give comiskey that neighborhood feel, they should have just built a big bar and called it McCuddy's. Actually, they should still do that. I'm sure it would make a fortune.
  10. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) This is just awesome... I asked this earlier... Thats Chris "the ranger" Rongey? the eternal optimist.
  11. Wait.... something is happening..... What's this feeling?! Oh yeah... it feels like 2005
  12. If they have some kind of "keg race" or "case race" to break the tiebreaker for the Wild Card, then David Wells is the man. Otherwise, no...
  13. I take it Ranger is supposed to be Chris Rongey? If so, that is funny. Its still not better than this gem from the preseason:
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) This place would be going NUTS if the Sox got shutout by the Royals. well... I don't know... Mark Redmon is an all-star
  15. today, i had lunch with a kid who played hs baseball in the same division as Joe mauer. I asked him what it was like to play against him... his response, "imagine a catcher against which you can never steal..."
  16. a good bunt from pods... and it only took 379 abs
  17. to quote a great man "lets walk'em off and break their hearts"
  18. man... i wish i would been online when dye hit that homer...
  19. I'm pretty disappointed in the selections here. Every single poster left out the one team that absolutely can not be stopped.... Probably hands down the best team ever. I'm just gonna post the roster and leave it to others to identify which team featured this absolutely rediculous lineup: Staff Ace: Roger Clemens Catcher: Mike Scoiscia First Base: Don "shave those sideburns" Mattingly Second Base: Steve Sax Third Base: Wade Boggs Shortstop: Ozzie Smith Left Field: Jose Canseco Center Field: Ken Griffey Junior Right Field: Daryl Strawberry By the way, I say england's great prime minster was Lord Palmerston... I don't care what Wade Boggs says about Pitt the Elder
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) I wish our manager was awake. gold jerry... gold
