  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 09:38 PM) In an organization with decent 2nd base prospects, it's insane Beckham continues to get at bats. I really is. The only thing I can possibly think of by way of an explanation is a common courtesy to Beckham plus service time games with Semian on a team that isn't a decent 2B away from the playoffs anyways. But yea, it makes no sense. His OBP is .269 FFS.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) This bouncing off the top is unreal. That is bad luck. I have never seen that happen and now it happens twice in a month? That is pretty unreal.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 09:14 PM) Is Beltre a HOFer? He's borderline IMO right now but if he keeps up his solid play for 2-3 more years he should be a no doubter IMO. He's been very good for a very long time.
  4. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 09:10 PM) Noesi cannot be a starter in 2015. Really? He's been decent with the Sox. Be a pretty solid 5th starter.
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 08:56 PM) With who is on the roster right now I would have Gillaspie bat 2nd against RH and Beckham against LH.. If Semien comes up I would have him bat 2nd against both probably Yea at least when Beckham screws it up he usually pops it up softly rather than rolling over Viciedo or Alexei style on a pitch and hitting it to SS.
  6. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 08:49 PM) Team leading 18th DP The perfect guy to bat behind Eaton and in front of Abreu. f***ing Conor 2nd against RHP it's so damn simple.
  7. People conflate the high leverage situations bullpens often come into with the actual importance of the pen. No bad team looks at its roster and thinks "boy, If I just had a shut down pen this 70 win team is gonna make the playoffs". Try it on OOTP one time see how it works out for you. First you get a good offense and a solid starting staff, then you worry about the pen.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 12:04 AM) If I showed you the bold in December, you'd think I'm crazy. Such an awesome season for a .500 team... Abreu is now the first Sox hitter to have 10 PA in a row without making an out since ... Frank Thomas had 15 in a row in 1997. Makes sense. I was critical of Robin in the game threat but whatever the more important thing is this team has some good talent again and if they can find some decent players to fill out the roster they might have something good going for awhile. All their key pieces are locked up for at least the next 4 years. If Jose keeps this up, he's gonna finish around 330/390/630, lordy. Will he ever slump again? Like, seriously, he kinda owned the cuban league is this just who he is, one of the 5 best hitters in MLB?
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 10:36 PM) You are having a bad inning. unlike you i can seperate process from outcome. If I got to the slots tonight and hit a million it doesn't make playing the slots a good idea tmr.
  10. Again, dumb decision comes very close to costing them. Garcia scores by 5 feet.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 10:32 PM) Ummm....does that mean you CAN'T pinch-run Garcia and then replace him with Viciedo if/when his spot in the order ever came up again???? no s***. what a puzzling move wtf? Dayan Viciedo is a slow ass runner.
  12. So what is the record for not making an out? jose is 10 in a row.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 10:25 PM) You are on a roll. LOL I was proven right Jose almost f***ed it up. It's obviously the most important run in the game.
  14. QUOTE (1dog @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) Almost as bad as letting ADA face Perkins. Aluminum bat lmao And he got lucky letting Jose run for himself. Just bad managing.
  15. this is when you PR for Jose. Right f***ing now. That's the leverage index.
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 10:22 PM) Guess RV does not want to manage tonight. LOL, awesome! Playing the bad percentage worked great. Hey, his gut was right for once, I will take.
  17. Jose Abrue's OPS is 1.003. Let me repeat. Jose Abreu's OPS is 1.003. That is all. Win or lose, this team has some studs, if Sale shows up like he does 9/10 easy win. Future is looking good.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 08:40 PM) He was out in front of it. Popping out to 2nd is getting in front of it? He jammed himself broham.
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 08:32 PM) Gordon really needs a fresh start somewhere. That pitch he hit foul should have been a home run. Yea it was a hanging breaking ball. His swing is so damn long that instead of pulling it and ripping it he drops his back shoulder and makes contact with the ball when it's already out of the prime hitting zone.
  20. Jose OBP is going to rise dramatically the next two months. He has zero protection.
