  1. Congrats on bringing the org into a 21st century chart. That means absolutely jack squat. That's like saying the pilot fixed the problem with the landing gear when the plane is about to crash at 500mph into the pacific ocean. Just to expand on this there are numerous necessary conditions to field a good team, they are, in no real order: 1) good scouting 2) good drafting 3) good FA signings 4) good coaching, MLB and MILB Now, analytics and inter org communication are probably necessary for those things, but they are certainly not sufficient. The single most important position is to install a GM who hires and runs a great org. There isn't a single data point we have in the last 10 years that JR is capable of doing that.
  2. Can't get fooled again. Nothing will change until the owner does.
  3. At least those teams had Calvin Johnson and Stafford. There weren't very good, but they were fairly entertaining and had a GOAT type doing GOAT things weekly. No disrespect to Crochet, but he's no Calvin Johnson type.
  4. I get it, but if the team moves, what are we going to do? I'm not going to follow the Nashville Hot Chickens.
  5. I'd be fine with that. Same franchise, same history, just a new owner. It would suck to not have a team for a minute but long term that would be the best thing for us fans imo. Just clear the entire JR stink out.
  6. Yea if they move I'm not following them. Would probably just become a Mets fan, a very half assed casual one.
  7. Sounds like a s%*# ploy to try and get a new stadium subsidized one way or another.
  8. It was just a poor use of resources given how things shook out. hindsight is 20/20 but if you're trading away cost controlled young pitching and not really going all out to win after that you're just half assing it. In isolation it was a fair trade, in context of the overall team building it was a mistake.
  9. Yea pretty middle case scenario it was a fair trade all things considered the problem was failing to sustain the team including replacing Lynn and others. Of course when you're not spending big bucks in FA and you're trading away cost controlled youngsters for "proven" MLB vets it's hard to sustain. Just bad process.
  10. Not at all surprising. And both guys can f*** off. Texas got 5.2 fwar out of dunnning so far. We got some cool yelling I guess.
  11. Jason is based enjoyed imo in small doses. I was no huge fan of him over 162 games but FFS man he's smooth and professional even if corny and learned baseball on the job. Schriffen is like the homeless man's version of Benetti, at best. It's like they thought they could pull another rabbit out of a hat but instead they just made another horrible hire.
  12. Amazing they did that after we pulled all their best FO talent.
  13. I'd be surprised if anybody other than Chicago offers him a starting gig.
  14. Move on from both Sheets and Vaughn. Neither guy has any profile better than 2 WAR even with better hitting. I'd rather put Colas at 1st next year then see either guy on the roster.
  15. The easiest thing, especially as you get older, is to just do nothing. Once this attitude starts to filter down into an org, it's only a matter of time before the entire thing rots from the head down. In MLB you're guaranteed profits even when you allow your org to defile itself to the level of all time worst, otherwise JR would be replaced. Lucky us.
  16. It's not coaching, not at the MLB level. It's horse s%*# ball players. Vaughn is one of the worst athletes in MLB and has no position. Same with Vargas and Gavin. Until the scouting improves you'll see more DH types trying to play positions. As a cherry on top those DH types will hit for under league average. Bonus!
  17. He's old. He's old and has been surrounded by yes men his entire life. Nothing will change until he dies or sells. This is what he has created and it's way, way too late for him to learn new tricks.
  18. Rewatched some Last Dance the other night. JR talking about how he hand picked Crumbs and how genius he knew that move would be really pissed me off in light of the last twenty years of his ownership in Chicago. You got fucking lucky bro. You got stupidly lucky that you had MJ fall into your lap and then Krause had a few magic offseasons (all possible because you had MJ of course) and then after MJ left you went right back to being a perennial bottom feeder until Rose fell into your lap at 1.8%. JR is so far up his own ass and is now so old and ingrained in his thinking that until he dies or sells nothing will change. He'll keep just hiring guys that suck up to him and hoping he somehow finds another Jordan and Krause. It ain't gonna happen.
  19. Yes it's worse to set a record over 99.99% different teams managed to avoid than to simply miss the playoffs.
  20. CALL YOUR WIVES CALL YOUR SONS CALL YOUR DAUGHTERS, HISTORY!
  21. LFG, glad to share this HISTORIC moment with this board!
