he has a chronic back issue among other things. "not supposed to" happens quite a bit, it's baseball. He's a bust, but let's not pretend like he was some big malcontent. When he played, for the most part, he was a solid starter and sometimes more. I think the biggest bust is Eloy personally. A golden bat that was pretty much penciled in as at worst a 280/340/500 type that would put up 35 HR a year in the Cell with a 2-3 WAR floor. Dude isn't even replacement level and can't hit 25 HR a year.

This is probably true but the choice was to give Sheets 500 PA or Colas and they went with Sheets and let him put up another negative WAR season. So they tried to shoehorn a DH that can't hit league average who is older than Colas and can't play RF, into RF rather than just play the actual RF in a throwaway season. Puzzling.

Getz meeting with JR:

I should get bonuses on my over under bet via my predictive posts in this thread. They have now lost 4 in a row, to fall to 69-70, having been walked off in consecutive nights by the juggernaut Oakland As. Their season is Ovah. They will avoid setting the all time loss record in the next few years because their owner isn't JR, but still. What a clown show. Wasting a historically good (and fortunate) rotation with the worst (lol) non white Sox offense is next level suckery.

While I agree that hiring a vet manager from outside the org with any modicum of success would be ideal (I was a strong advocate for Girardi over Ventura) the problem is much deeper and starts with JR and Getz.

You gotta give Vaughn a lot of credit it takes real dedication to put -.8 fWAR after 4 seasons in MLB as the 3rd overall pick, including a career low wRC+ of 89 in what should be the start of his "prime". I'd imagine even the real busts out of that spot at least put up a few in the positive before succumbing to the reality of being a top 5 bust.

I rarely can muster up "hate", it's a strong word, so I'll just go with "strongly dislike" for that clown. All these clowns were part of the problem.

Can Frank give him his 6-4" 250lb frame? Otherwise Vargas is going to keep struggling. I hate the athletic profile that Getz keeps bringing in. Small guys, maybe a little speed, but very little in the way of long levers or explosive profiles and these guys aren't EVEN GOOD DEFENDERS!
