I'm not. At this point I'm just waiting for them to announce he's getting a cortisone shot and is shutting it down for a month to try and get right. Tall athlete with what appears to be a chronic back problem, yikes. I said I was at like 2/10 worry meter the other week, I'm probably at about 5/10 now. There's no reason to be giving a 23 year old a day off this early unless he's either a mental headcase or is physically ailing, neither is any good.

I think the weight reduction is placebo as much as anything and guys just feel they are swinging a quicker bat. I believe I saw that on avg the torpedos are 2 oz lighter than an equivalent traditional bat. Of course there's no free lunch here so if your bat speed isn't up the force equivalent of those couple oz and HR are turning into warning track shots players will go back to what they know.

We had the "torpedo" bats back in the 90s, Easton had one. Was supposed to be a training aid to get the barrel through the zone quicker iirc. This is 90% media hype from the NYC market imo. Maybe the bats are slightly better but we're not talking much advantage imo. Some players will not like how they feel I'd imagine and the fad will stall.
