  1. The media is dumb. It's a small club and everybody is usually pretty chummy with each other. When someone makes an offer that another GM considers a reach it's not like they just hang up and never talk again, it's just a starting point. Not nearly the stakes obviously but anybody that has ever managed a fantasy team and made trades understands that sometimes yea there's no common ground but usually if two guys are motivated to get a deal done it will get done regardless of how the opening offers looked.
  2. they can, but at that point he's essentially just a rental. and a negative WAR value rental well, that's just not smart roster building. anyways, I'm not going to bother arguing about this bum Vaughn anymore. Hopefully the Sox can get some value for other guys.
  3. Because teams don't want to have to give a raise in arb to a bum like Vaughn who probably isn't even worth a roster spot. All those guys you listed have at least a year or two of sustained success and in a few cases are more than just a glorified DH. Apples to Oranges. Vaughn has zero chance of being traded. The Sox will trot him out there next year and just hope and wish he turns into someone worth a roster spot. Hope and wishing isn't a viable plan, but they will try.
  4. Pretty sure I saw him in Good Fellas.
  5. If you can name me a pre-FA, still on arb negative WAR 1B that has been traded at the deadline please ping me. I'm not sure there's a single one in the history of MLB.
  6. I'm sure a lot of teams are banging down the door to bring in Vaughn, a guy who has career negative WAR. Really we have two premium assets, one good asset, and a bunch of mid or worthless guy that maybe if you add them all up you can get a dollar for ten dimes. If we can't get premium value back for the premium guys just sell off the rest of it and see how the offseason looks. There's no need to rush. Especially if Robert continues to play well and Crochet is going to be basically babied into 50 second half innings if he stays here. We can protect their value and still keep building it.
  7. Thorpe is super interesting. He's kinda a unicorn. Just looking at some of his data after today's start. He def has some MB like tendencies but as a RHP a little harder to make that stand up. Still, a promising start to his career.
  8. helluva job pitching around that clown defense.
  9. If you took a shot every time Eloy hit a ground ball you'd be an alkie within a few games.
  10. Nobody is whining we are making observations about a young Sox player. He has limited upside sitting 91 with two pitches. Doesn't mean he can't be a nice starting pitcher.
  11. he's a two pitch pitcher unfortunately. limits his upside.
  12. What a bum. Another worthless AB. Non competitive.
  13. Love how they are talking about Lee's struggles when he has an OPS 200 points higher.
  14. It's so good right now that even grooved they can't barrel it. Good stuff.
  15. changeup is nasty right now with the shadows.
  16. Wow that was a looping breaking ball to Moldy. I could have hammered that one.
  17. It's called baseball John. He still has a 410 OPS.
  18. Thorpe just looks like a pitcher more often than not. Like he has a plan and is going to try and execute regardless of anything else. Impressive demeanor and results so far in MLB. Def has established himself as a guy that has a nice floor.
  19. Pham doesn't even have that good of range anymore but it speaks volumes about how bad our RF have been when simply making the play a few feet inside of the line at G-Rate is notable.
  20. Do you think by the time game 120 rolls around John will realize he's allowed to call a baserunner scoring before they are waived home? It was a hit and run. the play by play needs to call that, not Stone.
  21. and with that PA sheets falls below 0 fWAR. lol, what are we doing here.
