One way I know the sox are a great team again...
I still can't believe the Giants actually called Basabe up last year, might be the only MLB action the kid ever sees but hey at least he got his partial pension and health care.

The Jarred Kelenic Appreciation Thread
I'd imagine they'd have tried to get another TOR starter for him. Who I have no idea. That said, I think Kelenic's value might have peaked this offseason. He's not a top 10 prospect in MLB as a mediocre corner OF, his hit tool has been exposed and the power was never more than 55 or so FV which just doesn't play as good in the corners.

The Sawx wanted to pawn off benitendi on the Sox and Hahn came back with Moncada and Kopech. There is some speculation he asked for Devers instead of Moncada but Sawx said no. Thank god they held out for Moncada instead of benitendi.

Why your favorite team can’t be more like the Rays
lol, such a sloppy article. How much of the Sox' 72 million guaranteed in 2024 is "FA money" and how much is arb buyout money? Isn't 3/4 of it arb buyout?

Tony La Russa tied for 2nd in all time wins!
Sometimes I think the manager is too close to the game. Yea, sure that was the score at the time and you had some decent speed aboard but also Detroit couldn't get an out, their pitching staff was rattled (it was Holland right?) and there are quite a few other ways the runners get moved up that don't involve giving away an out. Just stop bunting so much, that's all we ask. It's almost never smart. Bottom of 9 in a tie game is pretty much the only time it's justified by the run expectancy.

Why aim so low? I think Pete Rose needs to look out.- The Jarred Kelenic Appreciation Thread
It was probably the one time out of 100 it made sense to draft for need. sox needed a plug and play 2B for the contention window, nick fit the bill.- Madrigal.
Never understood this genre of post and never will. As if predicting things on inference is easy and not something experts (highly paid as well) fail at time and time again. Better to be in the arena and have skin in the game then just mindlessly parrot a position. His xWOBA is 50 points lower than his actual wOBA, there is def some luck involved in his line so far. Doesn't mean he's not a good player, but it does mean that at some point he will regress and he will have to improve his true talent level. he's already improved his baserunning to basically average and his defense, while not good, isn't horrible anymore, so sure, give him credit, as I have, uh done, time and time again as more data points emerge.- Madrigal.
It is but we'll see if he can keep it up. He has def traded some contact for power, which I didn't think he could do. A .119 ISO with his contact rate is very impressive. If he can start pulling the ball a bit more this summer he might be able to sustain that.- The Jarred Kelenic Appreciation Thread
The guy taken right behind Nick -- Jonathan India -- looks like a good player as well. Sox did well with their pick as did Cinci. Jury is still out on Kelenic and I think his FV has already taken a bit hit because he's a mediocre corner OF at best. There's no way he's ever a CF and he has a long way to go to get to good in a corner as well. His routes are really bad.- How To Fix the Pen
it was a great idea from Hahn and he managed to get back a premium talent in Rutherford. Hasn't really worked out how we envisioned but now Rutherford is an asset the Sox can use to improve the MLB roster this year if they want. Sox sold high on both Kahnle and Soria, which was smart.- The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Sox regained #1 in the FG power rank. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/fangraphs-power-rankings-may-24-june-6/- Dane Dunning Thread
He's having a nice season and it sucks to give up what looks like a potential very good 3rd starter or worst case solid 4th but Lynn is a legit TOR guy right now. I'm still 50/50 on the trade long term it all depends on if the Sox can get an extension done with Lance.- The Jarred Kelenic Appreciation Thread
Hopefuly they appreciate him in Tacoma, as that's where he'll be for the foreseeable future after being optioned there this morning. What a complete disaster.- How To Fix the Pen
ironically Rutherford might be the guy going out this time.- The Makings of a Juggernaut?
There isn't a snowball's chance in hell he takes the QA if he finishes with around 180 IP and an ERA below 3. So yea, offer it to him.- The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Yea that's what I was thinking. His stock has fallen a bit, might be a good time to try and buy at a bit of a discount.- The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Offer Rodon the QA and take the draft pick and then do everything you can to lock up Lynn and Giolito. I wonder if Giolito will take a discount to stay in Chicago. He seems like the type that just might, but you never know and money almost always wins.- The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Totally. They need to extend Lynn somehow tho. Otherwise pitching looks mediocre.- The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Sox can win the division without those two guys, that's how deep they are and how mediocre the division is: but to compete for a WS they absolutely need those guys healthy.- One way I know the sox are a great team again...
Fuck OSU and fuck Justin Fields. Go Bears!- One way I know the sox are a great team again...
One of the best parts of being cableless in the PNW is that none of this exists out there. I listen to quite a bit of sports talk radio but it's 90% Seahawks mixed in with 8% mariners and then 2% national shit, at best. I can see if I was still a cable subscriber and had ESPN all day at work that I'd get annoyed, especially at the Mets shit. The Mets are such a horribly run franchise and have had real scandals (well beyond the Sox) that somehow get glossed over everytime they manage to hover around .500 for awhile. They def benefit from low expectations.- Madrigal.
He's getting it done. Kudos to him. Hope he proves all his doubters wrong, including myself. His defense has improved to tolerable as well and tolerable defense with a 110 wRC+ or therabouts from 2B is a solid starter. Really looks like the Sox nailed their rebuild draft picks.- Sox Win! Congrats TLR on #2 All-time!
Good win, if not for some bad BABIP luck Sox might have scored a couple more. Nice to get Jose a day off and Engel back and already paying dividends in CF. Cease, maybe the best stuff he's ever had. Was filthy. Don't stop now boys! - Madrigal.
