KW says "no Puig"
And his performance. There's a lot of assholes in pro sports that produce. Problem with Puig is that it's 50/50 if you're getting the 1 WAR version or the 3 WAR version. The 1 WAR version ain't worth it and everybody knows it.

Nick Madrigal will have a shot at being the Opening Day 2b
No idea because it really depends on if he hits 280/330/400 or he hits 300/360/440. the latter is a borderline star with good defense at 2B, a 3-4 WAR player. The former is just a solid regular 2 WAR type. Can he find some power? Can he maintain a high batting average without it? Can he learn to take a few more walks? We'll see.

KW says "no Puig"
Nobody wants him. That’s a red flag.

Fangraphs Season Preview Podcast for Sox
Fegan's talking a lot more past the halfway part and it got a lot better. That said, Fegan didn't really say anything groundbreaking either. Oh well it's content on a boring day.

Fangraphs Season Preview Podcast for Sox
Starts at about 59 minutes. I'm about 1/2 of the way through the part on the Sox. Can't see I really agree with much of anything they'd said so far. As usual I think us fans know more than most national guys. Some pretty lazy takes imo. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/effectively-wild-episode-1497-season-preview-series-padres-and-white-sox/

What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?
Yea but yanking their chain is part of the fun as well!

What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?
There's a professional digital media 30 something running the account and then there's probably half a dozen "interns" or entry level twentysomethings that brainstorm marketing ideas or run the account in the wee hours of the morning in case some news breaks. That's how most PR operations work at mid sized companies. Of which the Sox qualify here. The Fortune 50 companies I'd imagine like Apple and Nike and so forth have an entire army of PR folks in digital and everywhere else.

What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?
'cause it's fun and there's still about a week until any real spring training news?

What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?
I think in this case it's tenacity of the self promotion from the "ground zero" account: mlb incel, er intel.

What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?
Steve Stone needs to smoke a joint and relax. He's an OFFICIAL mouthpiece of the White Sox. Being a jerkface isn't a good luck.

What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?
Some dude tweeted the deal was done pending Arenado waiving his NTC. This was about an hour ago. Crickets since.

What would it take to get Nolan Arenado?
I'd make that deal so fast time would dilate. Madrigal is a nice player, he's hardly untouchable.

PECOTA 2020
I have a hard time saying any player will "regularly put up 8 war seasons" but Moncada is probably about one of 10 in baseball that could potentially do that.

Let's talk about the spring training hat
Man remember when they were putting out stuff like this? I ain't even mexican and I'd rep that.

Betts to Dodgers
Pretty much. This has the potential to damage the Twins quite a bit. No 3 WAR Maeda and oh yea the guy they tried to trade has a bum arm and now everybody knows it. Of course it could be they just want some more imaging/testing done and it goes through anyways. We'll see.

PECOTA 2020
Just make sure there's no electrical boxes in play.

FS: Neal Cotts - The Making of a Major League Pitcher
Honestly I liked that article a lot more than the sorta rote minor prospect analysis posted previously. More of this stuff would be cool. I always thought Sandy was a very good influence on those teams and glad to have it confirmed. He was a true pro.

PECOTA 2020
I'd like to see him sit a bit more personally. 140 games should be the target and being as close to 100% for those 140 as possible.

FS: Jake Burger: Forgotten, but not (yet) gone
Yes during my rehab from the torn patellas I did a lot of eccentric training and still do. The training guides I watched (and that I followed) did one leg stuff on a wedge. I believe the theory is that the wedges help shorten the chain between the achilles and hip so you can more safely target those areas when rehabbing and training. As my surgeon noted and you noted upthread it's usually only explosive strong athletes than can rip tendons. It's just so unusual to see it in someone so young like Jake. I was 31 when I blew mine out.

PECOTA 2020
Cool but I"ll eat my hat if Moncada doesn't have an OBP over 350 one way or another. He'll regress with the BABIP 20 or so points but I'd imagine this is the year he really refines his strike zone to the best of both world's between swinging away early and going deep into the count and he hits something like 275/360/500

FS: Jake Burger: Forgotten, but not (yet) gone
Interesting tidbit, thanks for that.

Betts to Dodgers
lol, some people think you can turn chicken shit into chicken salad. they can safely be ignored.
-
Betts to Dodgers
Everybody would prefer a better player in RF. That's...not even an argument. But Steele Walker is not a lamentable loss.
-
Betts to Dodgers
what good is "control" of a C+, likely AAAA OF? Not much. And you're acting like Mazara is only a 2020 player. He could be a short or medium or even long term RF option.
