QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 04:38 PM) Why exactly is people talking about the Bulls on Soxtalk a bad thing? The thing that bohters me is that you can't have 3 conversations going on at the same time in the NBA thread, everything winds up pushed back 2 pages any time there's something people want to talk about.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) So let me hear from people... Who out there is interested in pushing a TalkBulls.com relaunch party? At this point we could even talk about making people mods and admins if they were willing to post over there a lot and to push the site in as many places as possible (facebook, twitter, emails etc). One thing it would definitely do is free up the NBA thread here somewhat. Well I'm clearly in.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) Adrian Gonzalez will start in RF today to try to solve the Red Sox's outfield woes, while getting Youkilis in the lineup (1B) and keeping Middlebrooks in the lineup (3B). They also called up Podsednik.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 22, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) The Thunder aren't taking them... The Bulls are dealing them to some team that wants an expiring for the next summer. Then the Bulls have cap to throw at Harden. So...that means the Bulls would need to find a team willing to give up a 2013 expiring in exchange for a 2014 expiring? Meaning that the team needs to actually want a guy like Deng. They don't have the pieces right now but I wonder if that's something we could drag the Lakers in to if they move Gasol somewhere else to try to fill out their roster.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 22, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) Meant to say Deng/Hedo would become massive expiring contracts the summer Harden is a FA, so you could possibly trade one. Struggle to see why the Thunder would take on either of those guys for Harden...they're pretty good at SF, so there would need to be a 3rd team involved somehow, which is always messy.

QUOTE (Baron @ May 22, 2012 -> 03:34 PM) Doesnt he have a bad disc in his back? If so thatll require surgery at some point. So far, the Sox have repeatedly and explicitly said that this current problem does not require surgery.

$15 billion would be a lot of cash to hold on to if you were only expecting to have to cover a $2-$3 billion hole.

let me know if anyone sees an "Estimate for how long this might take for Morel to rehab".

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 22, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) Then you still have to pay his salary and he still counts towards the salary cap. All it does it provide luxury tax relief. Pretty certain this is untrue. Amnesty gets you out of it counting against the cap as well. For example, the Knicks amnestied Billups last season to get far enough under the salary cap to be able to sign Tyson Chandler as an unrestricted free agent.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) Your funny maker is off today. Wouldn't you be after the untimely loss of your team's best hitter for the last decade?

Well, that's it for their careers, bench them.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) If Obama had any guts, he would have started bombing Valpo and South Bend by last weekend. Well yeah, but that has nothing to do with Konerko being hit, that's just for the good of mankind. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) I just don't see how that would even be possible. Harden and Ibaka are going to get ridiculous offer sheets. It's possible if they're willing to pay a ton in luxury tax dollars.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 21, 2012 -> 10:23 PM) I wasn't aware that Vin Scully still did road games... If they're close to LA he'll go, I think the dividing line is Colorado or somewhere like that.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 21, 2012 -> 11:43 PM) Lol in fact he is not, and he was once on a radio show and couldn't name his favorite Sox player when growing up.. then again I'm sure the radio and tv broadcasts in Kenya might have something to do with that. He wasn't a chicagoan growing up.

QUOTE (gatnom @ May 21, 2012 -> 05:32 PM) I wrote something similar in the Avengers thread. For a 2.5 hour long movie, it either needed more action in the middle or a more interesting plot. My usual standard for how interested I am in a movie is how long it takes me to unconsciously decide to look at my watch to see how much longer the film has. Most movies I last about an hour. Something I'm suffering through will last 30 minutes. For the Avengers, didn't check it once. Yeah, to each their own. It's not going to win oscars, it is an action movie, it's not going to get Robert Downey Jr. a supporting actor nomination, but out of the action movie genre, it's up there at the top.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 21, 2012 -> 01:41 PM) They have to inquire about Dunn don't they? No. They called up a seemingly legit prospect named Matt Adams to take his place.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 21, 2012 -> 01:01 PM) Hudson has hit 5 triples this year so far? His overall numbers are meh, but that's an abnormally high number of triples. All 5 of them were hit at Petco.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) Still funny, but once again you bring up the point that the protests going on around the country with Occupy or whatever else is incredibly unorganized without an actual message or stance on anything. It borders on people just being bored trying to find something to do with their time. A "movement" should be much more cohesive and organized IMO and that is the primary reason why its being ignored. I see this even in the brief discussions with individual protesters as they were walking back, getting coffee, and even some beers last night. There was maybe one person who had something they stood for (and it was unrelated to the "movement) and the others were just frustrated with everything in life. I get where you're going with this...but think for a second about the other side of that...let's say we had a very strong movement in this country mobilized against Wall Street, that could put hundreds of thousands of people in the streets. Then, let's say we also had a war going on for > a decade. And there was another movement against that war that could put tens of thousands of people into the streets. Then, let's throw in a few thousand anarchists who show up everywhere anyway. Now, despite what could be one, or more than one fairly strong movement, the combination of multiple real solid injustices and a few outside groups makes things get called much more muddled. Good comparison is the crossover between Civil Rights and the anti-Vietnam movement. Groups and people would bounce back and forth between the two sides, and there were stark divisions between groups who even were on the same side politically (i.e. whether to advocate violence in regards to the Civil Rights movement or non-violence).

QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ May 21, 2012 -> 05:47 AM) I saw Stultz got claimed, and pitched a nice game, in SD. So basically the Sox traded Stultz for Hudson. Well, the Padres are also picking up Hudson's contract too.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 21, 2012 -> 08:57 AM) Turned out to be a very nice pickup, and he's doing better than expected in the leadoff spot. His D does still need some work though. Had a real nice play or two over the weekend.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 21, 2012 -> 06:43 AM) I agree. Though I think a healthy Chauncey Billups improves their half-court offense immensely. I expected Blake to improve off his spectacular "rookie" season. He was still good. But Kevin Love shot right past him. They need to get some better pieces around their two stars. When people looked at their roster before the season they said it looked stellar (that might have been you, don't remember). Yes, Billups got hurt, but they also added height since then which was their preseason weakness. Having CP3 on your roster and a low post/lob option that prevents a team from leaving the basket to challenge the midrange or driving games ought to be the setup for a stellar half court offense, unless you have a coach who simply doesn't know how to organize an offense. I'm wondering how good that team would be with Thibs, and it kinda scares me.
