  1. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) The other difference is that the Yankees were willing to go over slot the entire time so they got higher-caliber players than us Except, when you look at the Yankees roster, you find 1 legit star who came out of their organization during the last decade, (Cano), a couple of pitchers who have contributed some (Hughes and Nova), and a couple relievers, most notably Robertson. So the Yankees roster may have gotten "Higher-caliber players", but their roster is overflowing with big money FA acquisitions and a couple guys they developed in the mid-90's who they've kept because of the amount of money they have.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) Any idea what the largest NFL stadium in the NFL is by seating? EDIT: Found my own answer... Cowboys Stadium - 80,000 seats I have zero doubts that Chicago could fill a Cowboys Stadium sized mega-palace for the Bears. Same reason why people don't consider "could Chicago support a second football team" to be a crazy question. That city is a great football city and a huge city. It could fill a Jerryworld Megapalace 8 times a year with ease, at pretty darn high ticket prices too. The other city that could fill it for 1 team is New York, but instead they do 2 teams. Chicago doesn't have the long-term built-in fanbase for the second team, and Bear fans aren't going to happily convert to a second.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 08:40 PM) 17 is still a child? Over 200 countries in the world have ratified a United Nations agreement stating that people below 18 do not have a complete emotional level of development, which is generally born out by science. The couple countries that haven't ratified that agreement are, Somalia, South Sudan (which has existed for a few months), and the United States. The US has not ratified it because it would make it much more difficult to try people below 18 as an adult. The US, however, considers 17 year olds to be a child in many ways. They can't for example, buy and carry a gun. They can't buy tobacco. They can't buy alcohol.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 08:36 PM) Question... Could the Bears consistantly sell out a 100,000 seat stadium for home games? Yes.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 07:35 PM) only if you exempt the Wings... True, that is a sport, isn't it...drat...
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 07:32 PM) IN the game winner thread, obviously. The chant has gone for decades... New year, new "Detroit Sucks" chant count. No one bothers chanting that for the Pistons any more either, so I'll give yesterday's crowd the first this year
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 07:29 PM) Let me just be the first to say DE-TROIT SUCKS!!! Weren't they chanting that yesterday? If you weren't in that chant, then you weren't the first
  8. 18 innings against the Tigers lineup. 3 runs. 1.50 ERA.
  9. 18 innings against that Tigers lineup. 3 runs. 1.50 ERA.
  10. QUOTE (MAX @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 06:45 PM) Nate pitched an inning against TEX. Missed that while on a plane, I guess.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 06:40 PM) If Howard comes back for the playoffs, that would suck for the Bulls. Not worried that they would lose, but a way tougher matchup than you would hope for as the 1 seed. Of course, we've seen in the last week what can happen when a guy is out for a couple weeks then tries to come back from an injury.
  12. Paulie has his countdown to 400 right by 1st base. Nice.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 06:42 PM) We haven't seen him for a couple games right? I don't think we've seen him or Stewart all year.
  14. That's what Konerko meant to do to that hanging curveball last at bat.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 05:30 PM) Don't know their schedule but Magic could go winless w/o Howard. It's hard to look at that injury and think that they won't wind up with the 8th seed. They're 1-3 without him in the past couple weeks, but 5 games for Milwaukee is a ton of ground to make up.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 14, 2012 -> 06:00 PM) I'd love to see Alexei try the 2 out bunt here Isn't Alexei a pretty darn rotten bunter? Didn't he bunt into a triple play last year?
