  1. Honestly shack, that 10 minutes is what the Bulls need Hamilton for. You have a 2nd option who can make a mid-range jump shot, Boozer down low, and Deng on the other side, if they put Lebron out on Rose, suddenly you have mismatches all over the place. Either the Heat bring in extra size and the Bulls have 2 options who are faster than the Heat at getting to the hoop, or the Heat don't bring in extra size at which point the Bulls control the paint. Hamilton is supposed to provide that floor spacing. If Lebron moves out to the top to deny Rose, then they can't collapse on the paint. If Rose can get by Lebron, then he owns them...if he can't get by Lebron, then he can still collapse that defense and have a shooter. Korver utterly failed in this role last year because he couldn't defend Wade and he couldn't make anything during the playoffs.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 08:59 AM) Buster Olney ‏ @Buster_ESPN ELIAS: Yankees have best record in home openers since 2000, at 11-1. White Sox have 2nd-best record, 10-2. Both open at home today. Gonzo fires back:
  3. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 09:22 AM) Bet the cubs get into that......if you want to rebuild crain and thorton for trout. Angels pen is a wreck. They wouldn't even come close to considering that, but if we're talking moves we'd make right now, that's the kind of thing the Sox should do. Shoot for the bleeping moon until we have some idea where the team actually is.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 09:09 AM) It would have been worse if they didn't. If they lose they case, more than likely the "racist system" gets blamed for it, instead of the prosecutor. If they lose the case, I'd expect both get blamed, but the prosecutor gets to be the public face of it. Marcia Clark style.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 09:01 AM) So you would have been happy if they didn't bring charges in this case? I still half expect the guy to get off and I'm really surprised they were able to bring charges in the first place, so yeah. But if nothing else, something needed to be done to get past the "ho-hum, he killed a black guy, no big deal" initial version of the investigation that was so weak everyone involved stepped aside as soon as there was scrutiny. Someone needed to be able to at least tell the family why charges couldn't be brought. If they uncovered more details than what has been printed in the press, then charges might well be reasonable, but that's why I'm saying that the prosecutor just put her reputation and career firmly on the line by bringing them.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) You can't be serious. A 29 year old, 2nd year arb-eligible IF with a career .722 OPS. I second 2k5's statement.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 02:15 AM) Yep, I was one of them. Of course, one GOOD game does not a season make, either. I remember Jerry Owens went 5 for 5 against the Twins once, something like that....in August/September of 2007, but that turned out to be a mirage. Considering how far away from the majors he still is, being able to go 5/5 with 0 k's is a promising sign. At least he's making contact.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 08:46 AM) And what is more likely to get you not-releected again... Not bringing a case, or losing the case? Depends on if you can give a convincing explanation about why you didn't bring the case. If you can stand up for 2 hours and take questions about why you can't bring charges and answer every one of them in an honest way, and also sitting down with the family and detailing why you can't prove the case for however long it takes to outline every single thing that was investigated...then that'd be enough to keep my vote. Bringing charges and then having the accused get off would be incredibly inflammatory.

    QUOTE (SnB @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 08:48 AM) I've actually found my grad classes a bit easier than undergrad. I feel like the classes are more focused and concise. On the other hand, I may have just grown up a bit since undergrad and can focus more. All of my classes have been a different level of work, but they've ranged from 1/2 hour - 3 hours/week of extracurricular work/studying. (masters of accountancy) Usually, if a class is done well, both of these should be true. Upper undergrad/grad classes should be more difficult than intro classes, but the difficulty should come from the fact that it's building on material you've already done, not from just having work piled on top of you. Piling work on top of you is the point of a thesis.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2012 -> 08:39 AM) They ran a great offensive set against Millwaukee when they tried trapping Rose, which would work with LeBron guarding him. Bring Noah up to near half court, put the ball in his hands and create the mismatch against Bosh in the open court. Let Jo run the show. He got a triple-double doing it against the Bucks. Isn't Bosh going to be a much better away-from-the-basket defender than anything Milwaukee can throw at the Bulls? (At least assuming it's the playoffs and Bosh resumes caring like he did last year). Especially if they can have Haslem/Anthony/Turiaf filling space closer to the hoop at the same time.
  11. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 11:13 PM) I don't get all the pessimism on Rose. Yes, he has had two horrible games after the injury, but considering he's probably still injured and not in rhythm right now, it is not the time to panic. People just have incredible short term memories, when healthy, he is still an MVP caliber player and still going to improve from here on out, but he didn't lose the ability to play basketball just because of a groin and an ankle injury. The Heat are a flawed team as you can see tonight, and they are terrible against good teams on the road this season. I don't see a reason to panic even if we lost tonight. Derrick Rose basically has a 7 game preseason right now to get back in shape and to get into the flow of a team that has played a large chunk of the year without him. This is at the very least a challenge.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 11:19 PM) Watson's not a bad offensive player when his shot is on. He can create off the dribble a bit and penetrate here and there. I'd bet a Bulls team without Rose can take Miami to 6 games in a playoff series. I know they haven't exactly had to game plan for it, but both in the playoffs and now this season, the Bulls have been better against the Heat with CJ on the floor than Rose on the floor.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 11:05 PM) lol Miami quit and the Bulls are still trying to get the ball. Show them up.
  14. Korver hits one of those crazy shots that usually only Lebron makes.
  15. Btw, everyone realizes there would have been a foul called against the Bulls on almost every possession in OT if this was in Miami, right?
  16. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 10:55 PM) I sat in the scout seats a few years ago, and the guy in the M&Ms jacket brought his laptop. He was on it the entire game. He also stood up and turned around and looked at the fans behind him and the announcers booth between every half inning. Really annoying to sit behind. Just think about how much you could post on Soxtalk while at a game.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 10:55 PM) Bulls need to play cleaner on offense. Need to at least get a shot at the rim because they are getting so many second chances. Tricky passes in the paint are unnecessary up 5 with 2 minutes left. Miami makes that really hard with their athleticism.
  18. Battier got Korver with the body, then Asik got Bosh
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) I think Asik got Wade in the face ha. Not hard enough until he winds up wearing a mask.
  20. I like that Thibs is still switching for fresh legs in te paint. And as I'm typing that, both bigs make plays.
  21. I don't know if CJ has the legs to play the full OT.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 10:44 PM) Or CJ. I need to predict something else.
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 10:43 PM) I guess use Korver as a decoy and get Deng a wide open 3 again? Or CJ.
