QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 07:48 AM) What are everyone's thoughts on Boston right now? I don't see how they're any stronger than the team that couldn't get it done against the Heat in the playoffs last year.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 08:32 AM) The whole "NO ONE KNOWS WHERE HE IS" thing was complete garbage. Only the media didn't know where he was. Obviously the authorities did. His former lawyers specifically stated that they did not know where he was. That's more than just the media. That was at least a very surreal day, between him launching a geocities page with a couple very poorly chosen images and his lawyers giving that press conference.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 12:24 AM) Try switching the MOL in Molina with the N in Nestor... If the kid ever makes the bigs, this will happen with Bill Melton in ST at some point.
-
I also think Escobar earned a spot on the big league team so Charlotte needed another IF.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) Just used this an example because the Red Sox were one of the teams that came out and said they wished they had known Santos was on the trade market. The BoSox were a poor matchup for the Chisox's needs...but they could have been used as leverage against Torotno.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 12:49 AM) They're lineup is awful, they won't even make the playoffs. That pitching staff will carry them a long way.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 11:12 PM) I just want to know what their excuse was for not signing Cuddyer... 3 years, $30 million for a 33 year old who in his best years generates $10 million or so in value. The Twins might want to put a happy face on it and try to compete, but honestly...they're only competing if Mauer and Morneau turn things around immediately and other stuff goes right. That's as deep of a rebuilding process as the Sox would be in if Dunn and Rios continued being .200 hitters and Konerko retired.

Ryan Sweeney with more pop in his bat would be a solid corner OF. Of course, we have plenty of corner OF's right now, and the one that Pierre blocked last year is doing ok. When we say we should have gotten more from Torotno...that doesn't mean we'd want to trade with Boston...it means that if we were going to trade Santos to Torotno, it would have been really nice to get one more piece back in addition to Molina. Even if it was father away than Molina, something else to add to our system.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 09:14 PM) The next thing will be keeping him "safe and secure" and away from anyone who might want to wish him harm. While not exactly Jeffrey Dahmer, he's definitely got a target on his head. The Special Prosecutor declined to state where he was being held at in her conference today, and that's the right move on her part. So far, the Special Prosecutor has done her job effectively and as far as I can tell, didn't say anything she wasn't supposed to say in her press conference. Having anything happen to Zimmerman in prison would be a horrible thing. He deserves his chance to defend himself. That would be the worst thing that could happen to the state in this case.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) http://news.yahoo.com/why-george-zimmerman...ZXN0Aw--;_ylv=3 Five reasons Zimmerman's attorneys dumped him, point 5 is the most interesting 5. This is an elaborate ploy on Zimmerman's part to stay out of jail This whole situation might just "be part of an elaborate and not entirely crazy act of self-preservation" on Zimmerman's part, says Steve M. at No More Mister Nice Blog. Consider this: He fled Florida and contacted Hannity. Let's say he's seeking refuge in "a very red state." Having Fox News rally conservatives to his side could lead a GOP governor in such a state to "refuse to extradite Zimmerman" to Florida if Zimmerman's indicted. Maybe that's an "utterly ridiculous" theory, but this country is so crazy, I think the plan could actually work. Zimmerman is already in custody in the state of Florida. Despite how bizarre his actions the last couple days were, he did everything appropriately today.

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) I agree it will need to be changed but to where? And that was the case I was trying to avoid bringing into the conversation. Florida has lots of metro areas.
-
QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) Good luck with that. I honestly feel this may be the most difficult jury to fill in a long, long, time. There has been so much publicity, speculation, press coverage . . . Clearly this is an obvious case for a change of jurisdiction. If they can try the OJ case they can try this one.

Conor Jackson hitting .200 after the first week or so.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 07:02 PM) So much for no one knowing where he is at... Correct, he turned himself in through his new attorneys after charges were filed.

Full practice today for Rose, very likely to face Heat tomorrow night. Bulls clinch the division if the Pacers lose tonight or the Bulls win tomorrow.
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) Yeah Ive read that its likely, but why hang my hat on likely, might as well wait and see. I can't imagine that every press organization would run with their own statement saying he's about to be charged if that part wasn't true.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) They were up six at the time. Personally, I thought that was a decent chance to try out Jones. IF he's taking up a roster spot, we may as well see if he can do anything useful while up 6. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) Im just going to wait and see what happens at this point, if the Prosecutor charges him, yay I was right, if they dont charge, boo hiss I was wrong. It happens. According to multiple media sources, the Prosecutor has called a 6:00 EST press conference to announce the charges against Mr. Zimmerman, whose location is currently unknown to investigators.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 03:34 PM) Who else is impressed with the managing of Ventura so far? I have to say it is quite nice to see a manager who knows how to fill out a lineup card on getaway day and make better choices with his bullpen. I know it has been a small sample size but I for one am happy with the current manager so far...but I am not surprised either. As much as I loved Ozzie's dictator attitude and swagger, it's nice to have a manager who has a brain and will make better decisions for us on a day to day basis. Today was my first complaint...leaving Ohman in to face 2 guys from the right side out of 3 hitters (one, admittedly, switch). -
So, following up on the previous post where I noted that charges will be filed:

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 03:24 PM) The whole Sunday lineup idea really baffles me. Instead of having your lineup at 50% on Sunday, and 100% Fri/Sat, how about giving guys rest throughout the series and keep the lineup at 85/90% the whole time. Every game counts the same. But then you're undermanned every single game. What hurts you more, being down 1 person 3 games in a row, or being down 3 people in 1 game?
-
Nice work by the front 5 in our lineup.

QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 03:05 PM) I wanted to make as clear and example as possible about public speech. I am talking about public comments. By the 1970s those public comments were not tolerated. (Jimmy the Greek, Howard Cosell, etc) Today even more so. Please remember I am talking about public comments that would be cut from the same cloth as what is being said now against whites. These are public comments by a hate group. You're reaching out to the equivalent of a white supremacist group and you're pretending that those comments are tolerated. They're tolerated to the same extent white supremacist groups are tolerated, and there are over a thousand of those in the country today, but I'm still waiting to see where someone catalogs everything they say. Of course, no one does that... because they're hate groups! If you put a white supremacist on the air, you're not going to be stunned that they say bad things about blacks and jews, and no one's going to make some silly point about how we've gone too far in tolerating hatred. Instead, people would wonder why in the world you gave that person the microphone in the first place. No one wonders that in this case of course, because giving them the microphone serves the important purpose of making sure everyone knows that it's ok to be suspicious of black people because, hey look, they hate us!

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) I'd go with Thornton, as Indians have a ton of lefties coming up. We don't have a scheduled offday forever. Saving Matty for a day makes some sense. -

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Apr 11, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) Really don't want to use Santiago. Maybe Thornton. Or score some more runs and use Stewart. Or you could just go to Stewart...this is Cleveland, isn't it. It's a 4 run lead. I'd follow the Closer rules for Santiago. Put in Jones and see what he can do here.
