  1. AJ Pierzynski never had a prayer against that. That was evil.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) That was quick. two months ago he was god. 3 days after opening day?
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 09:08 PM) I only saw the swing and very last part of the pitch. I've seen him throw 5-10 good changeups total since he was a White Sox, though. Must just be a pitch he doesn't have any confidence in except for some particular situation That's the amazing thing...he doesn't need to have any confidence in it, he just needs to throw it and not have it go to the backstop, just to change the batter's velocity calibration. A batter can adjust from 95 to 88, but if you reset him by throwing a pitch in the dirt at 79, suddenly his brain loses the speed calibration.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) Was that a changeup he threw for strike three? Correction, Pitch F/X clocked it at 96.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) Was that a changeup he threw for strike three? Looked like the usual slider to me.
  6. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 09:04 PM) Funny you should say that. On the radio in the 1st during Kelly's AB that was the exact same thing Jackson and Farmer were saying. And I'm watching the TV version. It's so obvious, it's like Lebron James practicing a post move...anyone watching can see how much possible gain there is from a quarter as much effort as other guys put into it, but they never do it. Other guys have to work hard to create a 3rd plus pitch...he doesn't need a plus pitch though, just something that isn't a wild pitch every time. That's all, it just has to not bounce.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) There are some things you should just keep to yourself... No one wants to hear about his exploits with his "American Baseballs".
  8. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) Edwin Jackson is firmly entrenched with a Type B Elias ranking and will assuredly be offered arbitration by the team he's on (see Boras). The Sox will be looking for talent at least equivalent to a supplemental pick. A decent young relief pitcher is, IMO, the approximate value of a supplemental pick.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) Interesting, maybe they're too strong? Jackson was definitely firing his slider early in the game, and he usually doesn't reach 97mph until later in the game. I still can't believe Jackson's never developed something other than the fastball/slider. Even if he never ever throws a changeup/curveball for a strike, just having something at 80 mph would make his 88 slider and 93 fastball so much more effective by speeding them up to the batter after they take the pitch.
  10. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) Is it me or does the 6 man rotation seem to hurt guys in the first couple of innings and they they settle in....except Danks Nice to tie it up but the pen better be ready to do some handy work Jackson's career ERA in innings 1-3 is 4.86, then 4-6 is 4.21 (5.03 7-9 but that never really counts since guys get pulled in those innings).
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:51 PM) Balta...those are the at bats Morel can't have. He doesn't need to be taking a protect swing with 1 strike. He's such a better hitter when he tries to pull the ball. For once, I bet he's intimidated by who he's facing. He's been protected from pitchers like this for a month.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) Let that be the one that kick-starts Gordon's season. Adam? Go enter witness protection or something. Becksy is hitting .342 since May 20 (10 games prior to today). He got Kick Started when he shortened his leg lift (Walker effect?)
  13. Man, and I was about to post that Beckham needed to be patient here since Verlander was wild this inning.
  14. HE HAS YET TO LOSE OUR LOVE TONIGHT.
  15. Dunn needs to make some *&^#ing contact.
  16. THE STEALTH ELF STRIKES AGAIN!
  17. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) PROSPECTS! PLEASE! The only way you're getting anything of significant value is to target something unexpected at low A with a real high failure rate but that you've got a scout who really likes.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) As soon as Konerko is healthy, Rios will be benched. I'm extremely confident in saying that. Except we saw zero signs of that happening prior to Friday.
  19. Awful, just awful. You can't give up that chance against Verlander.
  20. That looked like a balk to me.
  21. We need to tie this game up this inning.
  22. That one looked like it hurt.
  23. A HIT! A Fine Hit!
