QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 22, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) Alexei having one of those "when your hot everything goes right" feelings at the plate. And is anyone else noticing Ozzie having hitters swing at 3-0 more this year? I haven't caught alot of games, but it seems everytime I do, someone is swinging at 3-0 which has rarely happened in his tenure. I think they realized that the scouting report said "The Sox will NEVER swing on 3-0" and so had to start a few times to change the scouting report.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 22, 2011 -> 03:25 PM) Where can I stream the audio online? I tried 670thescore.com and it's giving me some sort of sports news thing. You can only stream online if you have MLB gameday audio. It costs like $20 a year. The local affiliates are blackedout during games unless you have gameday audio.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 22, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) ok ok. i take back the lols but i want more cuts than Obama has offered. Basically, less spending, not more. i'm willing to cut just about all spending. not just the easy stuff. This is where the real difference is between our 2 sides. For your side...on principle, we're always spending too much, there's always too much waste. It doesn't matter what the program is, whether its effective or not, we should spend less on it. It's a matter of faith that spending = bad. For me, I can pick things I'd cut happily. Military spending. Farm subsidies. Health Care (if you cut the growth rate). But more important for me is the question...is it effective? I think we need to spend a ton more on infrastructure, a lot more on enforcement of laws/regulations (pick your industry, mining/resources, wall street, food safety, etc.), a lot more on education. It's not an article of faith for me that we need to cut spending, it's an article of faith for me that we need to make it effective.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 22, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) Two errors this inning. Is this gonna be one we ultimately blow? Cleveland is f***ing amazing. If only we were 6-7 back instead of what we are. Yeah, if only we were 7 games back instead of 9, it'd be...a whole different season?

QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 22, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) Exactly. My math brings out a laugh. The only cuts that count are the ones your side likes. That is of course where we diverge. That doesn't even include the Medicare cuts from the Affordable care act, of course.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 22, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) yes i am. but willing to compromise. end all US military operations, send troops home, cut all spending. maybe a temporary debt ceiling increase with around 3 trillion in cuts. i'll even close a bunch of tax loopholes. President Obama's budget included $4 trillion in cuts over 10 years.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 22, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) the do nothing option works on raising the debt ceiling too. So you're in favor of defaulting on the debt and stopping funding the military entirely? (For once I'm not exaggerating. The military is paid for out of discretionary funds. Soldiers in the field stop getting checks when you default. Not to mention the resumption of financial panic).

QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 22, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) But GE paid a lot of bribes for those tax breaks. Is it fair to take the rug out from under them? I'm sure they'll be on TV whining about how if they don't get these big special privileges there will be another great depression. No one wants another great depression! As far as raising all taxes back to Clinton era, it's a non-starter. The Democrats can't do it. They will end up with an attempt raise on upper bracket tax increases. Again...if all we do is "Nothing", tax rates will return to Clinton Era rates. Cutting them takes additional legislation. If we do "nothing" and we bring the army home, the deficit shrinks away.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 22, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) With the way the bulls have D'd up, 90-95 points should be enough. I keep wanting Boozer to go hard to the rim but he seems like he is afraid of contact. Hopefully he's feeling better again after 3 days off.

Jackson's been "Effectively wild" so far. 123 with a couple K's, but a number of pitches went everywhere. However, he's got excellent movement on everything and a big break on the slider so far. That last slider on Ethier was murder.

Ozzie vs Soxtalk
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 22, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) Yea but they aren't slugging so what do you do? What do you do if your sluggers are striking out or grounding into double plays or popping up? I'd do what Ozzie is doing- put some pressure on the pitcher with the running/fielding game since the batter isn't putting any pressure on him. I understand your point that we are a slugging team, but if our guys were hitting the ball Ozzie would look like a genius taking the extra bases. Those outs caused by the running game shouldn't be as magnified as they are since we are losing. But I think the pitching staff is turning it around just like last year. This season could get tasty real fast. What puts more pressure on the opposition...having a runner on 1b and 0 outs or a CS and 1 out?
