QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) Simply a result of being really good and lucky at the same time. He's thrown a couple of balls right at defenders and they just straight up dropped them. The Patriots have turned the ball over 9 times this season.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 01:48 AM) I was making more of a connection to him being a mediocre twins-like player who would be traded at the end of the season because he's blocking somebody with greater potential at the position. Brent Morel should not be a mediocre, Twins-type, no power, weak hitting player.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) Give LeBron the MVP. I despise him. But I watched some of the Wolves/Cavs game. Good god is that team awful. There's not a single player on that roster that commands even a sporadic double team. They're dead last or close to it in every major offensive category. I can't remember a team being exposed to this degree after losing their star player. You don't win an MVP for what you did last year.

The Finer Things In Life
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 02:49 AM) Today, I drank egg nog. 192 proof Polish egg nog. Holy s***. After further research, it is apparently distilled ethanol. 96% alcohol by volume. I feel like a f***ing trooper. I don't think there's much egg nor much nog in that.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) No they didn't. They traded for Teahen because Viciedo was not ready yet. He was just starting AAA that year after being in AA (Morel was starting AA), not to mention he played alot of 3B for Charlotte, and if I'm not mistaken to start the year, before making the move to 1B since Pauly was in a contract year. He played a lot of 3b for Charlotte once Teahen got hurt and they found themselves scrambling for a non-terrible 3b playing option. They traded for Teahen not because Viciedo wasn't ready, but because he didn't belong there.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) Then he'll trade him. He's not gonna be in the minors or fill a bench role. He'll probably start the year in the minors, but yes, he's going to be traded.

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) Or he believes he can play 3B. Which is why the org tried moving Viciedo to 1b to start last season, traded for Mark Teahen, and spent $15 million extending Teahen. Morel has been a nice surprise, and Viciedo was moved back there last year because of Teahen's implosion, but really, they went out and traded for Teahen because they didn't want Viciedo at 3b and they thought Teahen would be a defensive upgrade there. Viciedo's going to need years in the minors to become an adequate 3b, and his bat doesn't belong there.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) lol. You must be crazy. Brandon Jennings is a Damon Stoudamire clone. Griffin is a guy you can build a franchise around. I know, but at this point last season, Jennings was destroying teams and had just come off a 50 point game, IIRC, and people were saying "Give him the ROY right now".

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) Dayan wasn't signed to a 4-year, 10 million dollar contract without ever taking a swing in America to rot in the minors. Not saying KW doesn't like Morel. But if Viciedo can just be competent at 3B the job is his. Because 1B/DH is obviously locked up for quite a while. And the OF is full. If Kenny Williams loved Viciedo that much, he wouldn't have signed a 1b and a DH to 3 year deals this offseason, he'd have Viciedo DHing. Or at worst, signed a guy like Lee or Pena to a 1 year deal.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) Blake Griffin has rapidly become my favorite non-Bulls player in the NBA. I stop whatever I'm doing to watch Clipper highlights. He's my NBA version of Carlos Gonzalez. He's recorded 18 consecutive double/doubles. Give him the ROY now. I vaguely recall a regular process of one player having that said about him early in the season, followed by that player being totally passed up int eh 2nd half. I think Brandon Jennings was that guy last year.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 08:04 AM) It could be the next big KW/Ozzie showdown. KW loves Viciedo. Ozzie loves Morel. If Viciedo shows he can play a solid 3B, there's a reason Cora is working daily with him this offseason, there's going to be more conflict. What makes you think that KW doesn't also love Morel? There's plenty of reason to think that he does.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 25, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) . But he's already pitched at a higher level than that in his short time, and yes, I know it was a short time, with Arizona. But it's just hard for me to limit the guy's potential to middle of the rotation when he's already shown glimpses of being better than that in his very short time in the majors. And after our legendary debate over the Jackson deal? Sir, you disappoint me.
