  1. Listen -- strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
  2. Jerk.
  3. Help, you just got the song "Iris" into my head, Jerk.
  4. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) Oops, yeah, sorry. I was referring to Ozzie. Jenks was moreso cost vs actual performance. Exactly. They let Jenks go because he wasn't performing...but there's clearly some deep behind the scenes stuff playing into those decisions, and now, thanks to the miracle of Oney's twitter feed, we're getting it publicly. They would have kept ignoring Jenks's behind the scenes stuff if he was 39/40 on saves last year with a 1.30 ERA.
  5. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) I think they wanted him I read the Him in the "I think this is why they wanted him gone" to refer to Jenks. The statement was reading they wanted Jenks gone because of the behidn the scenes stuff.
  6. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) I think Coughlin begins next year on the hot seat. I think Lewis is gone. Del Rio will stay. Turner will stay. Kubiak is definitely staying from what I've heard. Sparano is 50-50. Foxx is probably gone. Wisenhunt should be off the list. And Caldwell never belonged on it. I think Cable should be on the list, but won't be because they semi-overachieved this year. If this were a normal season I think that there would be a lot more casualties. I think the lack of a labor agreement right now protects some of the guys who are on the fence, because you don't want to be without a coach for 6 months if there is an abbreviated training camp of some sort next year, and you don't want to be paying 2 coaches at the same time with no revenue coming in.
  7. Could you not ask questions that require that sort of googling when my wife is sitting next to me?
  8. Awesome. Now's my chance to play my Vuvuzela, now that Tex is trying to sleep.
  9. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) My point is that big deal, you drafted no doubter of a middle infielder out of college and "developed him" and a college senior who is destined to be a good pen arm and most likely nothing more. That isn't much to brag about recently. Even if you want to use your method, my point being, the White Sox still rank pretty low. Plus, how do you define "ahead of schedule?" and measure such thing? The best way to measure the contributions of ones farm team is world series flags, rings, and parades. Period. Here's my way of asking that in reply...which no-doubter middle infielder named Beckham would you rather have from that draft, ours or the one who went #1?
  10. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) Not good for Ozzie that his son is telling personal stories about the organization. I have a feeling this is why they wanted him gone. How else would Oney know? They wanted him gone because he was awful last year and because teams were going to offer him a lot more money. Behind the scenes they obviously tried to do what they could to help him, but they're not going to tolerate him turning around and ripping him. This is actually a really interesting and effective use of Oney's twitter, as a method of replying without having it be an official organizational statement.
  11. Wow Oney, I'd almost say I'm impressed here. That really lets KW off the hook for any need to rip him.
  12. You should type your posts using it if you like it so much.
  13. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 07:11 PM) Isn't that the point? I mean, gees, think about it. See Kap, the issue here is that some of us believe things like the horrendous poverty currently found on a variety of Native American reservations to be a bad thing in this country, something that might deserve correction.
  14. We surrender.
  15. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 05:04 PM) I was just doing some reading on Wikipedia and read something I guess I never knew before: What is the OLDEST rivalry in the NFL? I'd assume Packers-Bears without checking.
  16. Yeah, I'm going to wind up saving a lot of this list as well.
  17. Quit saying words like that. It makes my knees hurt.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Good luck with that Ms. Sterger. Had you been serious about this whole charade, you would have reported it to your employer when it happened. Most places dont take 2 year old complaints very seriously, especially when you are complaining about some one who did something under a different employer (Jets and Vikings are not the same ownership group.) There's always a second issue though, that person's career. Coming forwards while even a partial-employee of the team, or while having to deal with that team in any capacity, could have led to negative repercussions for her career.
  19. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) From design to prototype testing to actual production, about 10 years... but that's assuming a brand new aircraft. An extension of existing technology is a totally different thing. And, we're going through a major design change in the marine variant of the F-35... and it's a quick, quick, quick turnaround. When these guys get moving, they can go quick when they need to. I think your schedule is out of date there. 10 years might have been the old schedule, but I think it's closer to 20 now. The F-22 design phase started in the mid-80's, the selected frame design was chosen in 1991, and it took about 20 years before it reached genuine production from the proposal design stages, and almost 25 where there were enough of them to fill up a squadron.
  20. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) No doubt this is true, but I wish it wasn't. That's the dark side of KW's uber-competitiveness. I dunno about that. I think this is could instead be the dark-side of the Sox's loyalty to guys. How far do players and coaches have to go to really get on each other's bad sides here? If the Yankees cut loose someone or trade some kid away, teams don't rip them because they expect it's a business; if they're not doing the job, they know they're not going to get rewarded for it.
  21. Osiris is a useful instrument.
  22. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) These must be some of those better educated public sector workers you guys always talk about. Corollary: all car accidents are caused by public sector workers. Private sector workers never drive in the snow, and never wind up in accidents. You've proven your point. I submit.
  23. Like any good religious follower
  24. Why not, I'll be the one to type it. Bobby, you got a Hell of a lot more loyalty and trust and opportunities last year than your actual performance earned.
