The Closer's spot for the Chicago White Sox; one week there, and you'll never be the same.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
ARGH- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
Close play at 2b. Usually our guy gets called out when it's that close. I want to see the replay.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) Sorry, dozed off between Putz pitches. What's happened? Nothing yet. Putz not dominating, struggling with control some.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) That graph was awesome, but I could have been sure that they talked in ESPN Magazine about Cabrera hitting mammoth homers at Comerica the opposite way. You're making your case based on ESPN the Magazine articles? I think that means I win. Is that a corrollary to Godwin's law...the probability of ESPN commentary being used in a sports argument goes to 1 with increasing time and the first one to use it loses?- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) you and I have talked though about not considering the players from the steroids era. Cause if that was true, then obviously Bonds was the best player I've ever seen. Yeah...the one thing about the steroid era though is that it's possible that because guys who would have been better hitters than Cabrera did juice it, they get excluded by that filter. I don't believe you can ever truly think he was clean...but it's entirely possible that if there were never any steroids, we might still look back and think that guys like Bonds or Sheffield or ARod were at a level beyond where Cabrera is now...but all of them juiced so you can never tell where they'd have been without the assistance.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
Damnit Putz stop it.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
Fathom, to comment on that HR tracker I posted...note how Howard has hit 425-450 foot HR the opposite way and to CF regularly, while all of Cabrera's opposite field HR are under 400 and he's got nothing to CF (Probably because of the 410 CF at Comerica). Howard has vastly more opposite field power than Cabrera right now.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Yikes, here comes Putz. Between him and likely Jenks the Sox will need at least another run to win this game. Isn't Jenks still out with back spasms? Thornton's closing if Putz is coming in now.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
Don't screw up Putz.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) power/average combo Griffey in and around 98, Thomas in 92- 94, Mauer last year, Pujols for the last decade, and the juicers immediately come to mind. Edit: and the more I think of juicers, the more I come up with. Sheffield had some dominant years. Canseco. Sosa on the stuff.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) And Cabrera matches them with ease. Here's Howard: Here's Cabrera:- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) Also Bonds pre-pharmacy was amazing. Yeah, from the chemically enhanced list, Bonds, ARoid, Manny are all up there.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) He has more opposite field power than anyone I've ever seen. You've never watched Jim Thome or Ryan Howard hit?- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) Who else besides Pujols? Do you want better "Pure hitters" or "better overall hitters" counting both power and average? On the "pure hitters" list I'd probably include Mauer and we can go from there, on the overall hitter side Griffey and Thomas in their primes, then the steroid guys.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) Best hitter I've ever seen. No way. Even if you exclude the convicted juicers, I'll take Pujols the last few years and I can come up with a handful of others who are close as well.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
Well, at least there was no one on base for that laser beam.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
Sergio...that was absolutely filthy. Yowza.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
Sale deserves that applause. I'd rather save Santos for the 9th and put Putz in now. Seriously.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
Damon looking Silly. Damon wishes the ump had called that first strike so he didn't have to wind up looking like that.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
Whoever just got tossed for arguing that one...totally deserved it. Cooper got tossed.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
Where the f*** was that pitch?- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (Sox72 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) Do you think he has a shot of actually getting it??? No, it'll go to Jeter.- Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) Thome just hit a 3 run home run off of a LHP, so Twins are going to win today. Need to hold this lead. A 2 game deficit going into Minny is a lot better than a 3 game deficit. Win 1 there and you're no worse than 2 back...and with the pitchers we have going, we ought to be able to pull 1. - Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
