Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (Sox72 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) Are any shortstops hitting better than him? He has the highest OPS of any SS in the AL by 20 points over captain Jetes. .749 OPS for Lexi, .729 for Jetes. Alexei also leads the AL in HR by a SS.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) Perfect example of why he is a horrible manager. Alexei Ramirez says "Screw you randy!"

I see we've snapped out of our RISP funk at least for 1 day.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) Those first 2 were Freddy's fault, not Beckhams. Freddy jumped WAYY too early on the chopper. Beckham holds them to 1 if he doesn't try to barehand it.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Are you thinking this is a guy who will have arm problems later down the road ala Kerry Wood? No reason to bring Kerry Wood into the discussion. Sale's Mechanics are somewhat iffy, but you can put him up against Strasburg and say that Sale's mechanics are better in some ways. Check out his AAP page for a legit discussion. Basically...it's up in the air. Cooper's usually good at keeping his pitchers healthy compared to everyone else in the league. He might have injury problems, but it's not an absolute.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) Cost benefit analysis...burn your pen every time Freddy pitches and still get a loss or take your chances skipping him and affecting the ERA of the other 4. It's not great, but I can live with 5/5 by Freddy when the defense gave up a chunk of it.

"Damon goes over, he can't throw". Terrible call by Stone that illustrated more genuine truth.

QUOTE (Sox72 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) Well, then it's good for the Twins that this is MLB. Former Twin Corey Koskie's career ended on concussion symptoms.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) Freddy leaves and adds to his ERA over 7 for the 2nd half of the season. They need to consider skipping him when they can when we have days off. I hate using the offday as a 5th starter. Absolutley hate it. Every single pitcher in our rotation (Other than Jackson who just arrived) has an ERA a full run lower on extra rest than they do on normal rest.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) From my Rangers fan friend is Buck is actually a solid manager but doesnt like breaking in young players is his biggest flaw. And yet all the talk I've heard about him is that he's a great guy to use to help rebuild up and down through your minors.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) Ok, let's bet $50k even money. If I had that kind of money to spare, I'd take that bet, seriously. Concussion symptoms down for a month and a half already, no timetable for his return...in the NFL, you start talking about the concussion being career-threatening if they're no where close to coming back after 4 weeks.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) If Morneau stays healthy, and with their increased payroll, they are set to have a stellar lineup for quite a while. You look around the AL Central, and you see the Tigers and White Sox having some huge holes offensively in the next few years. Right now, I think there might be as high as a 50/50 chance that Justin Morneau never plays baseball again.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) How many years did they sign Pavano for? Liriano, Slowey, Duensing, and Baker isn't bad at all...and they have Gibson lurking. I believe he's on a 1 year deal after accepting salary arbitration.

Some blooper luck there.

Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) It really is stacked, even with Hardy having a bad wrist all season. There's no excuse for them not to dominate the AL Central for the next few years. Yeah there is...that pitching staff still doesn't scare anyone on paper...

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) And you never wish that on anyone. The Twins had their own version of the M&M twins Overcoming a loss like that...that's just amazing. On top of the loss of Nathan. Their roster is just stacked.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) Yeah I wish we had Morneau too. So do the Twins. They might never have him again.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) What kind of production have we gotten out o the DH spot by committee? We need a real DH IMO- oh wait he plays for Minny Look at the bright side, we're only 10th in the AL in OPS out of the DH spot. We're right there with Oakland and Toronto...and well ahead of Seattle and the Angels.

Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) Yeah we need to go back getting only 3 runs on 3 homers and still lose games. I'd go for 3 runs some of these games. 3 runs yesterday would have been nice. 3 runs today would at least have us close.

Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) if next week goes badly, KW better not go ahead and waste money on Manny. If the next 3 days go poorly, the Dodgers will be just about as in it as we are.

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) 21-8 since the break If they win today it'll be 17-4 in their last 21, and then they get a team they love to batter for the next 3 games.

Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
Well, maybe we can see Sale for 2 IP today.

Sox vs. Tigers 1:05 CT, CSN
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) Maybe they can miraculously duplicate that 25 out of 30 winning streak. I think the Twins are in the process of doing that. They're like 16-4 in their last 20.
