QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) Exactly how I reacted to the complete strawman you've been running with. Which part am I wrong about? That BP will do everything in its power to fight claims in the oil spill case if there is no special fund set up, or BP will do everything in its power to get things taken care of rapidly if they have several billion dollars held in escrow?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) Our home run streak might continue for a while facing 2 sinker ballers in that series. However, we'll see Lilly next weekend. We'll be at the Cell for 6 games though.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) Anyone else think keeping Danks and Buehrle back to back against a hot hitting Braves team is not a good idea? At this point, the guys are grooving enough that either they're going to have a good game or they're not.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) Just sign with Boston or New York for 5 plus years and that should cement it, right? haha Honestly...with the ballparks he'd be hitting in there, yeah. That'd push 550 HR for him. 600 if he played in Yankee Stadium.

Man, Hanson versus D1 on Tuesday. Yowza, that's a pitching matchup.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) As long as he gets past the 500 mark. If he doesn't get past it I don't think he has any shot at all. He probably does need closer to 600 to make it like previously mentioned. He's got to get onto a team that can make the playoffs.

LOL, if you take Rios and Konerko out of this lineup today, then do the Sox have the same 1 run that they had yesterday?

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Presidents have historical manipulated situations, including this one, for their own benefit, and lied to the public about it. That means since this has happened before, they obviously need to react with a worst case scenario in mind, so I await the Democratic Congress doing this on Monday. Huh?

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) I agree. I have always viewed Dunn as underrated for his productivity at the plate, however, despite his impressive statistics he has never really been viewed as an elite player in the league. He will present an interesting problem for HOF voters though. If Fred McGriff isn't a hall of famer right now, at what, 492 HR, then Dunn needs to go significantly farther than him.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) Omar is really good for an old guy. 1.5 months ago he was getting the kind of hate y'all have given Teahen today.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) So when are we impeaching Barack Obama? When does the next Congress take office? Jan 3? I'd expect it wouldn't take too long afterwards for the first articles to be filed.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) Question: I believe Adam Dunn is going to hit 500 steroid free HRs. Do you think he should be considered for the HOF? You've got to give me some postseason time or push 600, IMO.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) No, I have adopted yours. Make up a worst case hypothetical situation, and treat it as reality. A hypothetical worst case scenario = BP doing Exactly what Exxon did. Pretty remarkable for something to be hypothetical when it happened exactly that way the last time. That's like me saying "it's going to be colder 6 months from now than today" and you saying "That's a worst case hypothetical".

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) This would be great if it wasn't a 100% made up strawman. Let's say hypothetically it was in Barack Obama's best interest to have the worst diaster possible, aided by the government ignoring it for two months, so that he could pass things like Cap and Trade based on the outrage from the general public. See, now we have to impeach Barack Obama. So, you've basically adopted Kap's position? Anyway, please tell me where I'm wrong. BP has $7 billion or so cash on hand right now. They've already spilled enough oil that the U.S. could fine them enough to push them into bankruptcy, and the only thing that would protect them is delays in the court system. $4300/barrel in fines for negligence, plus the couple billion in extraction fees that they should owe to the government, plus cleanup costs. BP would fight that tooth and nail, because if they didn't, they'd be in chapter 11.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) built? I'd say overweight. But I was thinking more facially. There's some weight on him, but he has a monster frame. Some of that weight may just be some version of his body holding onto fat while he's still growing.

YET ANOTHER WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:42 PM) There was sure plenty of complaining for Floyd and Lilly... Ok, so give me the caveat of "getting no-hit in a rivalry game sucks".

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:39 PM) Just surprised to hear you basically giving up on a guy who is capable of MVP numbers to platoon with a guy who will never be confused with ever having an MVP type season. If I had any confidence at all in Quentin snapping out of it any more, I wouldn't be saying that. but look, if you want to stay in the race, you can't keep running Quentin and Beckham out there and ignoring the fact that they're not improving. If you're playing for this year, these 2 guys are the repairable slots. If you're looking for next year, then by all means run them out there every day.

DV's aggressiveness is clearly going to be an exploitable weakness, for now.

Sox at Washington 6-20 game thread 12:30 first pitch
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) And I actually agree with that. Although I'd rather have Quentin play a more than Teahen and maybe let Q DH time to time as well. I've posted this a few times already, I just do not want Teahen batting against lefties. I couldn't argue with that.
