  1. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) Ultimately, BG signing in Detroit allows us to definitely be a player in the 2010 FA market. I would much rather have a Bosh/Amare type than Ben Gordon. BG is player that can get you to the playoffs, but he can't help you win a championship IMO because he is a huge defensive liability. So we swap away 7 PPG with Hinrich instead of Gordon, you factor in Kirk's D that difference in scoring could be negligible because Kirk won't let the opponent score as much as Ben. I love Ben Gordon, but this team is better set up for a championship without him and that's the ultimate goal. Problem with your thinking is...Ben Gordon is the perfect player to have on your team at the same time as you have Bosh or (God I hope not, esp. now) Amare. He's the ultimate inside/outside game guy, because teams have to be insane to leave him to double the big guy. Hell, that's why we've wanted a big guy the last 5 years; because Gordon is such a perfect guy to go inside/outside.
  2. bottom of their order, come on Jose, keep it tied.
  3. Thanks Lexy! No thanks for the Baserunning Blunder Lexy!
  4. Anderson is out before I finished sending my post exhorting Anderson to perform.
  5. Come on Brian, tie this thing up, make yourself not look bad again.
  6. You just can't stop him. All you can do is convince him to try bunting.
  7. Castro really needs to stop being terrible right here.
  8. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) BTW, Detroit isn't too high on Hamilton. They want to trade him for a big, but know Tayshaun has more value. Ideally they would trade RIP for Boozer, but god knows. Hamilton for Tyrus Thomas and Brad Miller?
  9. Here's a sure sign this guy won't be in office for long. How much you want to bet that the state's lawmakers are going to subpoena those records and they won't be kind to the governor?
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 01:55 PM) Who knows. I honestly don't know why he'd ever want to go there in the first place outside of the obvious (and huge factor) money It just seems like such a poor matchup for both the player and for the team. I can't figure it out. Think about this...the Pistons dismantled their conference finals team, traded Billups for cap space, and out of that, they're going to get: maybe Gordon and Villaneueva? That's a terrible return.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) They had an 11 mil a year shooting guard in Hamilton coming off their bench last year behind Iverson, so I wouldn't put it past them. I know it, but here's the thing...does Ben Gordon want to risk that he'll be the one who winds up being the backup? And is that a situation the Pistons will be willing to tolerate for more than a few months?
  12. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) DET isn't very high on him at all anymore. They're been wanting to move him for a while now, hence they drafted 3 SF's. Right now, it seems that Detroit doesn't know who they like anymore. $10.3 million this year, $11.1 million next year left on Prince's contract. More moveable than Hamilton's, but doesn't give any team cap space for 2010.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 01:43 PM) Then what happens to Prince? Does he play the 4...? He would get his ass kicked. The only way the Pistons could legit make signing Gordon work is to either turn one of Gordon/Hamilton in to a backup or trade one of Hamilton/Prince. Otherwise they'd just be ridiculously undersized. Do they really want a $10 million a year + shooting guard coming off their bench?
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 01:35 PM) That is a small back-court. Rip COULD play the 3. Hamilton at the 3, Gordon and Stuckey in the back court...that's just going to be awful on your defense.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 01:33 PM) So I'm guessing the Pistons will trade Rip away and have Gordon there at full-time along with Stuckey at the point? He's a good player but how many teams are going to want to pony up the $11 mil a year on his contract the next 3 years?
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 01:24 PM) Sounding like BG is going to be a Piston. Heard something new over the past hour?
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) Please make sure that nobody has ever said move Beckham this year If Getz has a July anywhere near as rough as his may and june were, then I'll be saying it.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 12:56 PM) Buster Posey could eventually be THE premier catcher in the league. How many guys are there now that are having that said about them? Mauer, Weiters, Saltalamaccia (at least that was said about him 2 years ago), hell throw in Flowers if he keeps hitting. It's kind of weird to me...right now the catcher with the 2nd best OPS in the NL is Brian McCann's backup.
  19. You just wrote a 13 player, 2 team deal. Wow.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) Josh fields is NOT an OF option. Josh Fields moving to the OF is just as likely as any of these "We're sellers now!" proposals happening.
