Sox @ Angels 5-25-09 - Danks vs. Santana

God, why don't we trade Pierzynski? He never does anything. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 25, 2009 -> 07:25 PM) The Cub's window is rapidly closing as is. If they screw this season up it's probably shut tight. It's going to depend on their new ownership and how much they're willing to spend. The Cubs right now are hitting the point the Yankees hit in like 2002-2004...they can still compete, but it's going to cost them a fortune to fill holes since they don't have any kids available, and they now have contracts that are getting to the bad point.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 25, 2009 -> 07:20 PM) Jim Hendry should get his ass fired pretty soon. I sure hope not though. He won the division 2 years in a row. He's made some mistakes, but he's done the job with what he's had to work with. It'll be a year or two of the debacle of all these guys getting old and expensive with no draftees coming behind them before you start talking about that. His job was to do everything he could to try to win a title the last couple years before the team was sold.

I keep looking at the score of this game and laughing.

QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ May 25, 2009 -> 07:20 PM) So are the Yankees going to start building like they are the past few years' White Sox and just get sluggers? Are the Yankees going to start signing sluggers? Start? Giambi Sheffield Matsui Texiera Rodriguez Not to mention Damon, who isn't a classic slugger -

Farmer says Quentin irritated the tissue in his foot and he's now day to day. DJ feels like he'll wind up on the DL. -

Come on Danks, with this kind of lead just throw a damn Strike and let them hit it. -

Thome needs 24 more home runs this year to crack the top 10 all time. -

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 25, 2009 -> 07:06 PM) i wanna know what the f*** happened that made alexei go from brutal to fantastic in the span of basically one game It's exactly how Alexei hit last year. IT was like a lightswitch in mid/late May. -

That's it, I'm convinced Chris Getz Josh Fields is simply not a major league caliber player. He'll never adapt to what pitchers are doing to him, we ought to just dump him. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 25, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) I don't think being demoted has ever helped anybody's confidence. It actually was exactly what Gavin Floyd needed to start 2007. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 25, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) But why not send Fields down to AAA and let him get his confidence? His biggest problem is hitting 91 mph fastballs, and he'll see plenty of those in Charlotte. He has an option left, and he's doing himself and the team no favors by being with the big league squad. Would you really rather have Betemit there? Anyway, I don't deal with Josh on a daily basis. Who knows exactly what's going through his head? I'd imagine he's working on it. He may well just need time. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 25, 2009 -> 06:13 PM) Malholm must not like pitching with the lead. Neither does Dempster.

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 25, 2009 -> 06:04 PM) Fields sucks. It's been two months, and it's quite evident he'll never make it as a ball player, at least not with us. -

QUOTE (tommy @ May 25, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) If Kenny can find a way to get Figgins here, playing third base, I'm up all for it. Let's say hypothetically that the Sox Sign Figgins...then what do we do with Viciedo (assuming Fields is out of the picture, which is a silly assumption granted). Say then we move Viciedo to OF...we wind up with Anderson and Danks fighting for a spot, and Anderson's about to be an arbitration guy, which means he'll be a bit more expensive than you want to pay for a bench guy...and although we keep benching him, Anderson's playing like a starter right now. If nothing else...signing a guy like Figgins would need to be coupled to another couple of smart moves, because I don't like selling low on Fields and Anderson by letting Anderson walk for nothing and sending Fields to AAA. -
QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ May 25, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) Do any of those exist in the real world? Chone Figgins. Beyond that, there's guys you could easily get away with leading off who happen to play 3b...but you'd rather have them hitting like 2nd or 3rd. Michael Young, Chipper Jones, Ryan Zimmerman. And maybe guys you could stick there in a pinch. Andy LaRoche has a .357 OBP while at 3rd.

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 25, 2009 -> 05:51 PM) I'd be shocked if Chone Figgins isn't wearing a white sox uni next year. In all seriousness...where would he play? -
Ryan Theriot has 12 career home runs, 5 of them in May. His batting average in May? up to .214 after that double.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 25, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) Yep, and they suck. It's too bad, as they have the best announcer in baseball, Darren Sutton. I still can't figure out how that roster has turned out that poorly.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 25, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) Pure speed: Pods Really? I mean, Pods has never been the fastest guy despite the steals. He has good speed but great stolen base technique; that's how he was so good. Wasn't Anderson a track runner in college?
