Alexei helps us all out.

And Gavin demolishes them in the 8th. See what I get for questioning him? 8 IP, 2 BB, 2 hits, 0 runs, 5 k's. I like this Floyd. Jenks better get the 9ht.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2009 -> 06:36 PM) I was just going to say... Do you send him back out there or do you go Thornton/Jenks? And a lead off walk to JD makes me wonder, do you Floyd back out if it is 2 or 3 to nothing? With how he's been pitching lately...I wouldn't send him back out there for the 8th if it was 8-0. I want him to walk off the mound tonight knowing he pitched 7 scoreless 2 hit innigns. It seems he's coming back out for the 8th. Maybe Ozzie knows G's brain better than I do.

When was the last day that MLB.com didn't feature the headline "Player X is ___ this hit (usually the triple) short of the cycle" with some suggestion of history involved?
-
7 innings, 2 hits, 0 runs, 8 k's, 2 BB's for Gavin. Get him the Hell out of there.
-
2 pitches, 2 outs.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 22, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) Paulie is a breath of fresh air this year. You should actually smell his jerseys...
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 22, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) Damnit. Now he just needs to keep that double from turning in to a run.
-
Is Nix still looking like he's having good AB's?
-
The walk turns in to a free double via the SB.

2 out walk in the first inning gavin...come on, don't let me down again.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 22, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) They needed the Statue of Liberty to bust into the museum because Triple H, I mean Vigo, has it sealed up with pink slim that fed off the negativity of New Yorkers. Totally plausible!! You're watching a movie called "Ghostbusters" and your concern is that it isn't plausible?

QUOTE (Cubano @ May 22, 2009 -> 02:15 PM) The democrat socialist thread???? Let me get out of here in a hurry. Keep dreaming folks about socialism/left idiology. I so am laughing at this and so feeling guilty about it.

Flowers hit .302 in April. For about a week there the Barons' bats all seemed to go quiet, and that's dragged his May numbers down; he's hitting .224 with a .779 OPS in May. But, on the bright side, he's picking it back up; he's currently on a 5 game hitting streak and hitting .353 over that stretch.

Pick it up God D*mnit Gavin.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 22, 2009 -> 10:13 AM) Who the PRBNL's are definitely matters. If its Hudson and Ely, that's a pretty big haul to add to Poreda and Richard. If its Levi Maxwell and John Lowe, then who bloody cares. My guess is it would end up being guys between those sets. There's like 2 or 3 of our current pitchers that...if they were on the PTBNL list...I can't figure out why the Padres would have wanted them as PTBNL's instead of just taking them now and getting them in to their system (Hudson is at the top of that list)...unless either they think that the guy is an injury risk or they really like our pitching coaches and hate theirs. If Hudson was on the PTBNL list, why in the world wouldn't they have just taken him?
-
QUOTE (bulokis @ May 22, 2009 -> 09:19 AM) Who were the prospects involved? Poreda, Richard and 2 more right? I don't know what to think of Peavy coming here. As far as I know, 2 PTBNL, both of them pitchers. The only reason to use PTBNL at this point of the season, where there's no rule 5 draft to worry about, is to give the pitchers more time to develop before naming them. People have mentioned a number of names including Hudson, Ely, Broadway, etc., I'm not sure if any of us really know who would have been on the list.
-
Frankly...with the guys you specified as the PTBNL, no.
-
It'd also be damn nice to get a quality start out of Gavin.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ May 22, 2009 -> 06:48 AM) How bout we just take out the fricken trash. http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/news/inves..._workers_asleep Every single politician who gets elected to any office in this country does so on a promise to clean up the waste. It may only be a small part of their campaign, but they always add it in. Others (Arnold) make it the centerpiece of their campaign. Then they get in there and realize...there's a little bit that can be cleaned up, but it's never anywhere near what they claim it is...and it's just like any other business, there's good people and bad people. At least these guys weren't supposed to be the watchdog's keeping an eye on AIG. Those guys napped for like 10 years.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 22, 2009 -> 09:38 AM) I kid you not... now about to start filming, with the original cast... Ghostbusters III. !!

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 22, 2009 -> 09:04 AM) I am still not convinced he is worth the $$ he is gonna get b/c of his size, poor D and ball handling. But if you can rid Hinrich's contract and keep Gordon, you can still be in the Bosh/Amare sweepstakes. He is a dynamic scorer, which we def. lack. I'm not convinced anyone in the league is going to offer him anything close to the money he thinks he deserves.
-
Yes, we need every win we can get, but it's baseball. You can't always sweep teams even when you want to.
-
Brian ought to start the rest of the season. But since I have zero confidence in that actually happening, I'd rather have him platooning with Wise than Platooning with Podsednik.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2009 -> 07:39 AM) 10-26-2005 3628 posts. Not close to the record, but almost one of the 10 busiest days in Soxtalks nearly 7 year history. That was a good day.
