Can we outdo that 30-3 game the Rangers and Orioles played last year?
-
20-0!
-
Wow, 16-0. That's impressive.

HEyman again:

QUOTE (Baines3 @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) Down 9-0 in the 4th inning, am I reading the score right? Any chance we could throw in Greg Walker in the Peavy deal? Possibly even our pitching coach. 10-0 actually.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) MB couldn't care any less about any of that. I'd still want him starting opening day. Tends to not turn out well when someone else does.

10 runs, 3 earned...

Nice blurbs from Heyman.

Sat down, saw score, figured "Aw nuts, gavin must have been on the mound."

QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:09 AM) It sounds like Poreda has been informed of the trade by the Sox. Which says to me the deal is done and it's all on Jake. We just have to wait for the official word from the Pads. Doesn't sound like that to me at all, sounds like he's reading hte same press reports we are.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) Their seems to be a huge disconnect between the Sox media and the Padres media on this one. And the national media and the Padres media.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:02 AM) I'm late but is it still Richard, Poreda and two PTBNLs? If not, how can you not do this? It's not the Sox holding this up.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:19 AM) http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/200...nt-9274/?padres This is the same guy that broke the story last night.... Not sure what to make of that...even MLB.com is running with the story of a completed deal waiting on Peavy's approval...that one sounds like it's not even at the step of asking Peavy. That's sort of the opposite of what everyone else is running with.

QUOTE (spiderman @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:18 AM) What I'd like to see is how many outs on average Peavy gets per game as a result of long pop flys (and where, ie: dead center) as opposed to infield ground outs. This could give us a little perspective as to how well he'll do at first until he gets adjusted at U.S. Comiskular. If you go to Baseball-Reference.com, you can get Peavy's splits sorted by type of hit; fly ball, line drive, groundball, bunt.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:15 AM) The longer we don't know the other PTBNL, it scares me it is guys from last years draft.... The last time we had a PTBNL discussion, it was on the Swisher trade...but we knew the PTBNL right away because there was no point in not saying it (was DLS). They were using hte PTBNL there as a way of avoiding having the other team over-flow its spots before the rule 5 draft. Here, it's probably actually a PTBNL, because its clearly people from the minor leagues, likely (though not certainly) people not on the 40 man. In other words, they probably have a list of players that they're going to be watching and they'll pick from them within a certain amount of time. If we know Beckham's not on that list, we can probably safely assume Viciedo isn't on it either. Frankly though, this will probably drain that pitching depth we'd built up in the A ball level and there's no way around it...but if you think about it, assume we have Peavy for 4 years, Buehrle for a long time, and then throw in Danks and Floyd, and there's not a lot of room for the guys we currently have at A-ball.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) Do we know anything more about the package or is still Poreda and Richard + 2 PTBNL? I'm stuck here at work missing all the fun, it's driving me insane. Nope, that's what been reported, is probably true. They've said that the 2 PTBNL are probably pitchers, and they're not named Gordon Beckham.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:09 AM) Well, people were too busy creaming themselves to make a picture. It would be sexier than wite's Bonds in the White Sox jersey pic. Are you saying Peavy is on something?

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:02 AM) true, and that's the one reason I think this is taking awhile, although it is only 9:15 in CA, so it is earlier here and Peavy might want to double check with family, but back on track, I think he's talking with the Pads to see if it's the Sox or nothing for the foreseeable future or if there's other legit possabilities to a team he's indicated he was OK with in the past. If they say, no, nobody is really offering much and the Sox offer is better than everyones right now, he comes. It's certainly possible that other teams could offer the Pads more for Peavy...but given his contract, esp. with the option presumably picked up, the only teams that might genuinely do so would be people like Boston, NY, or maybe someone really creative like Atlanta. No one else in "Middle America" is going to be coming close to that. The Cubs would make the offer if they could, they can't. They haven't got the players.

BTW, how is it I've scrolled through this thread and not yet seen any photos of Jake Peavy photoshopped into a Sox uniform?

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:04 AM) I just wanna see "Peavy" on the back of a Sox jersey right now!!!!!!!!!!!! And yet you have Richard in your avatar...
-
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:55 AM) That was within the division as opposed to a team they play 6 times a year. It's rare for big trades to go down this early, so I'm not sure who they would get. However, if Peavy rejects coming to the Sox, I wouldn't be suprised if the Pads call the Cubs and try to finish that deal As soon as the Cubs trade Aramis Ramirez to the Sox for Josh Fields and Aaron Poreda, they'll have the talent to do so.

Whoof, holy crap, there's something to wake up to.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2009 -> 06:44 PM) Indiana still has a rainy day fund... just sayin. California's Governing bodies think now is the time to establish one.

5 IP, 4 k's, 2 BB, 0 runs against the Cubs tonight for Carpenter.
-
Cecil Cooper wrote down the wrong lineup for the Astros tonight and Michael Bourn went up to bat 2x in the first inning. Rangers turned a triple play. David Ortiz (no I will not call him by his nickname) hit his first HR of the season.
