  1. Rivera follows that up with one to the warning track. 7 flyouts, 2 home runs off of Mark thus far. Only 3 groundouts.
  2. At least Iguchi made him work a little. 48 pitches through 3 for Escobar.
  3. Come on Kid, get us off to a good start next inning. 37 pitches for Buehrle through 3. 34 for Escobar through 2. Pods keeps faking the bunt and taking strikes ever since that bunt hit he had in Toronto.
  4. 22nd home run given up by Mark this year. God damn it Mark, I don't care how high of a pitch they called for Escobar, keep the damn ball down.
  5. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) radio said a trip to the DL could be in Uribe's future... So much better than a DL trip for Crede...
  6. Oil Production at Prudhoe may take 6 to 12 months to return to normal.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) Is Uribe hurt, or is he in the doghouse? I hope it's not the doghouse, as we're a better team with him on the field. The way he was playing to get himself in the dog house, i'm not so sure. But he was supposedly feeling tightness in his lower back and upper hamstring yesterday...but was supposed to be in the lineup today. Link.
  8. Remember all that bluster from Bush, Rice, and so forth about how there couldn't be a cease fire unless the underlying causes of the problem were dealt with? Something's changed.
  9. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) update on right now: crede's in the line up tonight. LOL, Does happy dance... Somehow, about 10 posts ago, I had a feeling that would happen.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) Ok, I should have added that he'd hit run into a few more. He'd hit for a worse average though, that's what I was trying to say. Worse than .159? Hell, I think it'd be hard for most people in the big leagues to be worse than that if they had to face a pitching staff of Liriano, Santana, Brandon Webb, Jose Conteras, and Mariano Rivera every day.
  11. So, not only did the Supreme Court decline to hear Tom Delay's appeal in this case...but just as icing on that cake, Justice Scalia was the one that did it. Delay's name will be on the ballot in November.
  12. So can anyone actually provide confirmation at least of hearing this same report on the Score or give more details about what it included?
  13. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) Crede's important, don't get me wrong. But it's not like losing Dye, PK, Thome or even A.J., IMO. Get him healthy now. There's still nearly half of August and all of September to have him healthy. And remember the tear he went on after going on the DL last year... Actually...he's still on that tear.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) If Crede went to the DL and we were serious about going to the playoffs at all, Fields has to be the one called up. Why exactly would people object to Mack being given playing time at 3rd? Fields is supposedly no gold glove winner there, even though he's played that base more lately, and this was I thought one of the big reasons why getting Mack was so important in the offseason. Oh, and if we're talking about winning...let's also note that it would keep Rob Mackowiak out of CF for 15 days, and I can think of few things that would help us more defensively.
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Also, who gets the call up if he actually goes to the DL? I would guess Tracy.
  16. Well, this was why we got Mack originally. Worst timing possible though, if it winds up being the case.
  17. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) I'd trust EI over Faux News for sure -- mainly because they aren't given memos of how they're supposed to make the news stories look every day. Really? Wow, I wouldn't go that far as to say that it's more trustworthy than Fox...both of them have a strongly ideological bent, EI towards the Palestinian cause and Fox towards the Republicans, but I think there are more news organizations capable of fact-checking Fox News than there are EI pieces simply because Fox is an American network, so there at least has to be some measure of accountability on their part. They can't just go and say that a new study shows that Democrats cause Cancer, because someone would catch them (i.e. Reuters.) But with an organization like EI, yeah they probably do a lot of excellent work, but in all cases, it's going to be harder for any other organization to confirm their reports solely because of access issues.
  18. I stole the desk of the last guy quoted in this CNN article.
  19. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) Yes, he's doing a Brian Anderson type hitting goin on lately, but I'm not gonna get too pumped until I see his average start to climb more, but all in all, he's making good progress. Considering he was at, IIRC, like .230-.240 last time I remember looking at his numbers, i think that's a decent improvement.
  20. Man, I haven't looked at Owens' numbers in a while. They are actually trending upwards, aren't they? That's a hopeful sign. Anyone seen him play or gotten any news on him lately?
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 01:33 PM) If this quote actually was ever muttered by anyone besides Peter Arnett is an interesting discussion... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Arnett Hmm, interesting, I didn't know that.
  22. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 01:06 PM) We've already been through the "toughest stretch of the season" -- it was the 15 games against Boston, NYY, Det, Tex, Minny that straddled the ASG. During that stretch we went 3-12. So in other words, we're due for a good stretch.
