  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) You're right to run and hide because sending BMAC down would be f***ing stupid. It worked last year when he struggled at the start. And I'm sure he has ML options left, so if he really can't get things together and keeps getting shelled, maybe some time in AAA to get more adapted to the bullpen would be useful. Hopefully he's just having a bad week and he'll shut me up soon.
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 2, 2006 -> 09:56 AM) No it was NOT what it was agreed to. The DA said the original charge was over 40 pills, that had NOTHING to do with what was "agreed to" on Friday. In that case, does that mean that there's some sort of a "40 pill dividing line" built into the law, where maybe it's more costly to do this sort of behavior a lot, and the plea agreement was that they'll only agree to have him settle on the lower pill level? Just guessing.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) Is this including the granny that BMAC tossed up yesterday? If so then that is even more impressive than I thought. As far as I know ESPN updates those stats nightly, so that outing should be in there. It does show up in Brandon's stats, so yeah, I'm pretty sure it's in there. We only have 2 relievers with ERA's over 4: BMac and Clifford.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 2, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) Granderson is also in his 1st major league season, and could hit 20 HR's and steal 20 SB's this season. I'd take him over Pods, because you'd have him under control for 5 to 6 seasons, while Pods is a FA after this one. Um, no he's not. This would have been his first Arbitration-eligible year had he not been under contract. As far as I can tell we should still have him through the end of 08.
  5. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 2, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) The bottom line is that the Sox are 18-8 and in first place, despite a wretched bullpen. Wretched? Our bullpen is currently 6th in the AL in ERA. It hasn't performed as well as it could/should, but it's far from wretched. We're .08 runs behind Jonathon "More Desirable than Albert Pujols" and the rest of the Red Sox bullpen.
  6. A few days ago, Mr. Bush said that the national anthem should be sung in English. During Bush's first Inaugural, Jon Secada sang part of the song in Spanish. Thank God we kept that flip flopping Kerry out of the White House, otherwise we'd never know what the President actually thinks.
  7. QUOTE(Damen @ May 2, 2006 -> 12:15 PM) See above. We all know you've got to rest guys. But when it's 3 starters at a time, Ozzie is severely hampering our ability to win that day. And again, it's 1 day. If we're undefeated with all 9 starters, a .500 team with 1 guy sitting, and a .200 team with 3 guys sitting, then over the whole season, we'd be better off playing all of our starters 2 games and resting 3 guys the third than we would be by resting 1 guy each game.
  8. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 2, 2006 -> 12:12 PM) No offense but at this rate I think that monkey in LA could call a better game... The pitch that hurt Buehrle the most was no where near where Widger wanted it.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) Could be. With all of our bench guys playing except him today. I know he is a lefty, but its a bit suspicious. Gload played today.
  10. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) Ohh come on... Has Widger caught anyone yet that has actually had a decent game... I mean lets get real here... I love him for what he did last year but that was LAST YEAR! His CERA sucks it hard! So what exactly are you arguing here? That AJ should never get another off day? That we should bring up a rookie from AAA to be our backup catcher because he'll surely call a better game than the guy who's been in the league for 10 years?
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) 5-3 on this west coast/cle swing. Pretty f***ing good if you ask me. And 2 of those losses were in games where we rested a lot of our regulars. Note how the well rested regulars performed in the games where they were played.
  12. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) I have no problem resting JD - he's hurt for Hawk's sake. Now, resting Pods - that I have a problem with. I know C.C. is a lefty, but I also think resting Thome after the rough crowd yesterday smacks of girliness in the minds of the Indian faithful. Actually, what other reason could there be for resting the DH? Is the on deck circle that far away from the batter's box? Seriously, if there's one guy on this team I don't mind us coddling a bit, its Thome. The guy missed almost the whole season last year. He's been down a bit lately, we had 2 games in like 12 hours, might as well give him some time to gas back up.l
  13. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 2, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) If Logan keeps pitching like he yesterday I highly doubt he's the casuality here... Even more so today. 2.1 innings thus far, 1 walk, 0 hits, 5 strikeouts against the Tribe. I'm wondering if Nelson may find himself in Thornton's spot, with Thornton going on the DL with his back problems soon. He's pitched like 1 time in 2 weeks.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) 5 k's in 2.1 innings for THE Boone Logan. Jeff who?
  15. Buehrle's not gonna make 6 today. Yeesh. Terrible game.
  16. Well, I'm gonna call this one a loss and head to the bank. Enjoy your offday folks, get your asses in gear tomorrow night.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 2, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) I am sure Konerko got the same pitches to hit without Thome in front of him. I am sure as the game progresses with mack providing protection that they will still go after Konerko. Better than having Timo there.
  18. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 2, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) Widger causes everyone to have bad starts... Even Buherle had a bad start with Widger behind the plate... Last year the non-Cubans were pretty good with Widger, but this year it just hasn't been, and it's starting to become a genuine trend now.
  19. Come on guys, 2 out rally time, you've got the bullpen.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 2, 2006 -> 10:46 AM) Odds of Brian being 0-2 real quick. Very low. He'd have to see more than 1 pitch.
  21. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ May 2, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) I dont know if we will get to the 6th, the indians will take their time here to delay the inevitable. Then it's Buehrle's job to make it quick. 1 down.
