A whole lot of people of variable quality are hearing from people in Saint Louis and Chicago that TLDR is very likely to become the White Sox's next manager. Somehow Lance Briggs seems to have been the one who started it. Nothing is official, but it seems fairly likely/a foregone conclusion at this point unless TLDR changes his mind. Rumor that Dave Duncan (pitching coach) will not be coming along.

The Supreme Court would like Pennsylvania voters to know that they will not overrule the state's Supreme Court today on what the deadline is for ballots to arrive, but they may change their mind and come back and toss out ballots after retroactively changing the rules. Texas Republicans are now asking a court to throw out 100,000 already cast votes from the city of Houston.

See, I generally wouldn't be looking forward to that. I feel like it'd have a real good chance at taking the focus away from the baseball team if anything happened.

I think there are absolutely losses, but I think $3 billion is clearly exaggerated and makes 0 sense when payrolls on players were reduced by 2/3 league-wide. If you had said "there were substantial losses" or "MLB officials claimed there were $3 billion in losses" I would have no problem with those phrases, because neither one of them says that we should be certain that number is true when it probably isn't.

Apparently I'm going to follow you around with this for a while. Commander Montgomery Scott famously inflated his repair estimates by a factor of 4, because then everyone would think him a miracle worker when he got something done in 1/4 the time. MLB putting out a number that is hard to believe and makes little sense, but which would be extremely useful to them during negotiations with the PA?

Has it? Between TJS, not pitching in 2 years, losing a full year+ of control, and personal stuff, it seems like his value has dropped considerably over the past year+. He was a top 30 prospect in MLB when we acquired him.

Less than 20 years ago it was illegal to be gay in this country in many states. Several of the people who voted that it should be a crime to be gay if a state says so are still on the Supreme Court today. Have you ever had to worry about being thrown in jail for what you do in your bedroom? It is still legal in many states to deny people housing for being gay or fire them for it. Would you be ok with losing your house? The only reason I can type this is a prescription drug I’m on. I’m nonfunctional without them. I’m currently on an ACA plan. Without it I’m uninsurable. Unemployable. Bankrupt. Non functional and in terrific pain. I’ve got a new job now that will cover insurance for the next 2 years, but without prescriptions, you basically kill me. Get rid of the ACA and you literally leave me stuck in bed struggling to get out if this job ends. For some people this isn’t the difference between a 0 and 10% capital gains tax.

Using 5-4 Supreme Court votes, starting next Tuesday the government begins declaring packages of ballots invalid in major swing states, even tossing out results from some blue states entirely. Ballots are seized from some areas by DHS personnel at gunpoint. Trump declares himself the winner and says that the Democrats committed fraud. Democrats declare Trump to have stolen the election. Trump orders key opposition figures jailed as party takes full control. Some flee country, others in prison. Violence in streets causes Trump to order in army, army follows his orders and puts down opposition, by force in some cases. We watch over the next month as US democratic experiment collapses.
