  1. More creative: do it as part of a fireworks display. The scoreboard goes off when the fireworks hit one.
  2. Please tell this fairly powerful person how that isn’t debatable. You can’t tell me how the problem we have is a lack of civil discussion when this is the leader of one political party and the current president. The president literally said that you are wrong about everything you said we can all agree on and that by saying it you are a loser who is just trying to steal the election and saying that should be a crime.
  3. I have one important thought I want you to consider in reply. Being able to say “we need to come together without being tribal” is a privilege allowed only to certain tribes.
  4. I said outfield assists, you changed my words. Check outfield assists. Leury actually led the league in 2019 in those, and he wasn't nearly a full time outfielder, which illustrates how weak that stat is for Mazara. You don't get to rewrite my words. But you want to do something really blatant? Leury played 45 games in RF in 2019, 284 innings. He had 4 assists as a right fielder. Nomar Mazara played 101 games in RF in 2019, 878 innings. He had 4 assists as a right fielder that year. That's...not impressive. Where are the trophies? You don't want to admit you're a liar do you? You said there are batting average, home run, and RBI trophies. I'm waiting.
  5. Exactly. A guy who hit 17 home runs in 2018 while playing 2/3 of a season isn't a particularly good power hitter. Neither is a guy who hit 20. Thank you for agreeing. Now where are the trophy photos? You insisted they existed where are they?
  6. Leury Garcia has more outfield assists than Nomar Mazara. Avisail Garcia missed 2/3 of 2016 and half of 2018 and he has as many outfield assists over that time period as Mazara. Mazara has, in 5 years, never once appeared in the top 10 in outfield assists. You're not even looking these up beforehand.
  7. Mark Trumbo has played 12 games since August 19 of 2018. He has more Home Runs over that stretch than Nomar Mazara.
  8. They don't exist but here's a best batting average in cricket trophy from 1887.
  9. Not sure if you saw the Nature piece linked above, but here's one more: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2772167 A quick bit of math based on the available papers. Right now, estimates say that ~10% or less of Americans have been infected during the first 8 months of this thing. Herd immunity levels aren't known, but that paper estimates >60% of individuals are required to make it happen. Even if we just assume immunity lasts years (seems a poor assumption but anyway) - then we are less than 1/6th of the way there. In terms of developing Herd Immunity, we are in the 2nd inning of a 9 inning game. We would have to repeat the last 8 months of carnage 5, 6 more times. Imagine having to do this - everyone working from home to keep infection rates down, restaurants with capacity limits, bars shut, 50% of school kids taking classes from home, sports leagues with 25% of fans allowed, social distancing and mask wearing - for 3 or 4 more years. Want to get there faster? We are, right now once again, starting to see hospitals in areas fill up completely with COVID patients, so if people who need a hospital can't get there, you kill more people. We will get to see that again over the next couple months, and we saw it in New York, Italy, and elsewhere.
  10. We're watching the Tampa Bay Rays right now with maybe the greatest coaching performance I have ever seen, ever, do exactly what you're saying no one would ever do.
  11. "I don't want to take any time to learn about them and therefore they must all be useless."
  12. Even regardless of this environment, I recoiled at the idea the White Sox would spend that money on a pitcher.
  13. I want to see how they could possibly define this. "The shortstop must play a position set to the left side of a line drawn between the pitching mound and 2nd base and extended out to center field, but no further back than 14 feet past the baseline and no farther from said line than 17.6 feet". Not arbitrary at all.
  14. We coulda had this dealt with nationwide by June or July with actual leadership. It's going to be 6, 8, maybe more months before we can get most people a vaccine - assuming no setbacks, so might as well be prepped to lose another half a year because of the lack of leadership.
  15. He was always a poor defensive RF. In 2019, poor defensive OFs like Reddick graded out better than him. Fangraphs and DRS both graded him out as poor in every season of his career - well below average. So if you're going to draw a difference between "well below average" and "bad", good luck with that. He has also never once been an average RF offensively. That's why he was never once an average starter in the big leagues despite 20 HR per season. His career OBP was .320 coming into this season and that's just blah at that position. He was a poor guy to trade for in the first place and giving up anything for him, let alone a recent 2nd round pick, was a classic Rick Hahn overpay. Regardless of whether or not his season this year was COVID destroyed, he's not getting offered arbitration next year and a team that wants to match up with the Dodgers shouldn't go into the season with a gaping hole like Mazara slotted into RF. If you don't have the money to sign both a RF and a strong starting pitcher (and probably some bullpen help), then you have to start making trades for veterans (and God Help Us All if Rick Hahn is doing that).
  16. After what Stras got last year yeah that’s a pretty dramatic market drop.
  17. 2021 there’s a potential lockout looming, so if you’re going to take a long term deal and one is actually on the table now you do so. If you’re going to take a 1 year deal this year, good chance you do so again in 2021 and then sign for longer the next year.
