  1. Homer Bailey put up 2.9 fWAR in 2019 and got $7 million. Wade Miley did 1.4 and 2.0 fWAR and then got 2/$15. Quintana was hurt this year, is trending down, and will be 32 next season. I guess 1 year $10 million someone might do but it's odd to describe a 1 year/$10 million deal as "$10M+ per year", and I could see someone giving him that Miley deal.
  2. People can officially file for free agency in the days after the world series ends. How this offseason is going to play - my guess remains it will be slow and almost nothing will happen until February - but that's nothing more than a best guess.
  3. Not any political message in this just one of those response things that interests me. This is apparently the "Doomsday" plane, these planes are able to issue launch orders to submarines in the event of Washington DC being destroyed. You're not supposed to see them pop up on flight trackers, and a couple popped up on each coastline last night, meaning they weren't just in the air, they turned their transponders on so that anyone who was thinking about testing the US right now could see them.
  4. Disagree. That's a normal progression for the virus in a person where they are at high risk for multiple reasons. Just tells me that the infections probably began before the debate, and it took until yesterday for the viral load to be high enough to trigger the positive tests, and it's proceeding pretty normally/quickly in him.
  5. Just imagine how it's going to look when he finally hits one 500+ feet.
  6. That was fast. He tested positive Thursday and within 12 hours is experiencing symptoms?
  7. They were hoping that Dane could give them a couple innings. Unfortunately, they got a couple people on and went to their pre-arranged plan B - pull him if 2 people get on.
  8. I'd be skeptical about Quintana getting $10m per year in a normal, non-virus-hammered year.
  9. If this turns out to have been the White Sox’s best chance at a title before another rebuild, and the best we do is make it to the first round of an expanded playoff and wish we had Lance Lynn to get to the second round...we are in way worse shape than I could ever have imagined.
  10. Unless the Rangers really have bad scouting reports on Cease they'd have been fools to not take a chance on him. That's way better than you're supposed to get for a rental.
  11. Who else? Rodon? Crochet? Cease? Had Dunning gotten a little lucky he might have given them a couple of innings. We didn't get there. He was going to have to pitch, look how much trouble the rest of the bullpen had with 1+ innings? Would we have been better with a different opener?
  12. If your starter has only played 8 total MLB games, and he's basically the least experienced starter in the playoffs this year (and in your team's entire history i believe) and you've told everyone coming into the game that you're pulling him when there are 2 men on, and 2 men get on...you would certainly think about it.
  13. You're not going with the strong sell here are you?
  14. I have no problem with him coming back, we could use a veteran presence in the bullpen. But I don’t want to overpay for him, given the owner already complaining about money. I don’t think he’s really worth more than he got this season in a normal market, if the market is depressed then even less than that.
  15. There haven’t really been closers getting that money for the last 3 years, since Jansen, Melancon, and Chapman signed their deals. Only Kimbrel since then.
  16. I mean sure if he is taken off the 40 man someone will claim him on waivers, but no one is trading anything of use for him.
  17. Extension? Otherwise they will play the service time game.
  18. Teams don’t give up a lot for non tender candidates. If we don’t want him as a backup why do we think some other team will?
  19. Lol I thought something weird happened there, thanks. I’m sober and was worried I’d badly misread that.
  20. I think the decision was made yesterday that this game was fully on the bullpen and the second Dunning got 2 runners on or gave up a run he was out. It’s not my favorite way to throw a game, but they did it several times this year so it wasn’t new. If you have faith in the bullpen, once you pick that strategy you follow it. I don’t like that strategy because it means that 5 or 6 guys all have to have good outings for it to work, but that’s how they were playing it.
  21. They actually made it easier on Rodon than starting an inning! No one on base, he only had to get 1 out instead of facing 3 batters.
  22. We “might” have won today, it was going to be rough no matter what, we absolutely saw then inexperience matter today at the plate. And who is pitching game 4 and 5 against the Astros?
  23. They are not guaranteeing Colome $18 million this offseason.
