  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) It has to be another lefty bat, IMO Without knowing or otherwise commenting on the circumstances of this personal issue and focusing only on the baseball part, it's a genuine shame that this couldn't have happened before Pedro Alvarez signed.
  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:39 PM) Frazier can play 1B I believe You are correct, he started 37 games at 1b in 2014 and played there 83 during his big league career. So he's the obvious backup 1b, with Lawrie moving to 3b if Abreu needs time off or at DH. This opens up a roster spot, pending other moves, for either Sanchez or for Sands.
  3. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) Wow. This is a shock. I hope everything is okay with him. Now what do the Sox do? I wonder if the front office has known about this possibility for a while, Well, from a baseball perspective, Avi Garcia/Melky Cabrera just penciled in as your everyday DH. Austin Jackson signing just became very important as he's now penciled in as a starter.
  4. In 2015 ST A-games Avisail Garcia hit .313 during the spring with a couple HR and a couple 2b.
  5. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Mar 13, 2016 -> 06:49 PM) Half of his change ups hang up high and get crushed though. If it's low and fading it's a great pitch, but Danks has shaky control and his lack of velocity makes it pretty easy to wait on that change and crush it when he hangs it This seems like the kind of thing that would be worse early in the year in Arizona than later in the year.
  6. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 13, 2016 -> 06:38 PM) Big Ten seeds all seem low. Indiana a 5? Ken. Tuck. Y.
  7. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 13, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) It predates Crean. We've only even made the tournament final once, in 2002. For some reason we just suck at it. Which is especially odd given that Indianapolis and Chicago have big Hoosier fanbases. Give me a Sweet 16 game and I will be content.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 13, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) Martavius Bryant about to be popped for a year long drug suspension, which means this is likely his 6th violation And the Bears re-signed Mariani Slight correction - the 10 game suspension would have been up next per all reports, but if he does something like "refuse a drug test" the penalty is larger than the penalty for actually testing positive.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) So inside here's what went down. There were two dedicated sections to protestors. This was clearly planned. All the protestors just don't happen to all huddle up and sit right next to each other when they were in the 1000s. This was the main concern of security and what ultimately shut down the event. They were chanting BERNIE BERNIE BERNIE BERNIE throughout. I'm not denying there were other groups there just that this was the primary reason for concern. NBC WaPo Here's moveon themselves explaining what went down: https://twitter.com/ArielCohen37/status/708477056384901120 It's all well documented they were the primary people behind this. I'm not sure what the controversy is. So this group passed a law declaring Trump's speech illegal?
  10. You can disagree with the protest's tactics, you can disagree with the protestor's message, you can disagree with Donald Trump's tactics or message as well. But if your anger over last night is expressed as "What about the first amendment", I ask you to tell me when the city of Chicago or the US Federal Government acted to declare that event illegal. If the President or Mayor stepped in and said "he can't hold this rally because I disagree with him" then you have a correct point. But if that did not happen, then you need to go review the First Amendment, because you haven't understood it.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) The First Amendment is not the one I'd hoped would be challenged this election season. Last night was an embarrassment and against everything this country stands for - or at least I thought. f*** anyone who supports Bernie Sanders right now. And oh yeah before I forget: please note the irony of "I never thought the first amendment would be challenged" and "we need to ban all Muslims from entering the country until we figure out what the Hell is going on".
  12. Hell coming into the offseason I thought he'd be a solid "fill the gaping hole at 3b on a rebuilding team and be tradeable if he's healthy midesason" option but then people started talking about him getting 2/20 or 3/30.
  14. I believe the only thing I can add to this discussion is this:
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 12, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) I find it very difficult to believe Trump could find any support in Washington. Everyone dislikes him. I believe more "Washington people" on your side have endorsed Trump than Cruz at this point. Unless of course you mean the population of the city itself, not the "political class".
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 03:17 PM) I guess I never realized that Crean hadnt ever made it to sunday in the Big Ten tourney. Why is he so bad at tournament play? Well he's only had what, 2 teams, 3 at the most, worthy of making it to Sunday, so just off statistics it's a tough road. But yeah, this is getting annoying.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) The best way to take care of Chris Sale is for the entire 5 man rotation to make it able for Sale to not have to start every single 5th day. If all five starters can be counted on at a reasonable level, Sale can get the regular extra day of rest and keep his work load from being too intense, while still making every start. If you're that worried about Chris Sale's work load...then be proactive. Let "Mr. Offday" start once in May and once in June when your bullpen is rested, give him a couple extra days each time, and don't let him average 116 pitches per start in June. If you're 2 games out of the race in August, let's face it, even if Chris is getting blown up too often down the stretch, you're going to have a tough time not giving him the ball. He's going to want the ball. You're not going to want Latos taking the ball and you're not going to want Fulmer taking the ball. I'd give him the ball. You'd give him the ball. I'd give him a 5th or 6th day of rest if the offdays lined up and it gave us an excuse to put him against the team ahead of us, but that's about it. No way he's skipping a start if this is a close race.
  18. Jesus Christ. Great game, but yeesh. Every stinkin' tourney.
  19. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) Yep, I'd like to see Latos/Johnson/Fulmer taking some of Sale's starts in August and September. The only scenario where I would be in favor of this is if the White Sox have a commanding lead for home field throughout the AL playoffs by mid-August. If they're in the race but it's tight...no. You live or die based on Sale, not based on a rookie, unless he actually "asks out" of a start because things get that bad. If they're out of the race but Sale is healthy enough to keep pitching, then pitch him. Get him to 220 innings with a dead arm this year and maybe his arm is conditioned for 230 next year.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) The Cubs shouldn't even dream of offering him less than Lester. That should be their starting point. Arrieta should be looking at Price's deal for his baseline. And realistically, the Cubs shouldn't offer him that deal until he does it for another year.
  21. @RosenbergMerc 9h9 hours ago Shooting % this year Curry from halfcourt: 37.5% Harden from 3: 34.3% Carmelo from 3: 32.1% Westbrook from 3: 29.7% LeBron from 3: 28.7%
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) It still makes me laugh that people honestly believed guys like McCain and Romney were radical right wingers. John McCain, who picked Sarah Palin as his vice presidential candidate.
  23. Donald Trump has won both Mississippi and Michigan handily enough that they were called as the polls closed.
