  1. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:35 PM) The only thing Kenny did worse than assembling this team is deciding not to dismantle it! You've really done a 180 in the last week or so, huh?
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:19 PM) So you got a third string reporter to say something on twitter, which literally none of the big named reporters have said a word about in Chicago. This happened within 24 hours. Give it time. It might still catch on, and other players might add in their opinions once they are traded or allowed to walk in the offseason.
  3. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:07 PM) Not sure I buy that considering Oprah is worth 2.7 billion and it's taken her several years to get there. I figured the same thing, but it's sad either way. The guy is worth millions and he's just a piece of garbage.
  4. I heard someone say today that the Situation from Jersey Shore will be a billionaire by the end of this year. Sometimes I wish I could destroy the world.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) So what is different now than the last times this has happened? You expect someone to step in now, where no one really has before? Half the media in this town belongs to Ozzie, including the Sun Times, CSN, and the Score. Nothing is going to change on that front. We've already seen the tweet from Ballantini saying that the players are irate with Oney and that one suggested smashing his face. There's a bit of a difference between shots from Jenks/Cabrera/Frank and those from Teahen, as he's respected around the league as a very good person.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) I'm not saying Oney isn't a dbag or anything, but what exactly did Teahen have to gain by slamming Oney and then pretending he didn't? Especially when you are talking about someone like this, it is just better to stay out of it, than to poke the idiot. Says you. Teahen speaking out may shine a bright light on the douchebaggery of Oney and cause others to speak up. And that might lead to Oney getting his comeuppance and possibly be a large step in Ozzie getting the boot. In that case, it definitely is better to say something than to let this moron run wild in the media with nobody stepping in to stop him.
  7. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 07:57 PM) Ozzie preaches fundamentals but his teams are terrible at them. For years, Ozzie has given nothing but lip service. It is almost as though he does the exact opposite of whatever he says. Take for example his "benching" of players like Pierre and Rios. I think he may have benched Pierre for a game or two, and then he apparently earned his way back into starting and was still as bad. With Rios, he benched him for a single game and he's back to starting everyday since then.
  8. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 07:26 PM) So you honestly believe that Teahen, out of the blue, decided to blast Oney freaking Guillen? There's more to this that we don't know....either someone passed something along to Mark that Oney said or Teahen's tweet had nothing to do with Oney. I'm of the opinion that the former is more likely when put in an historical context. I believe you're correct.
  9. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 07:20 PM) Fathom called it best regarding this team saying it was "fools gold" after our winning play after the break. I think the worst case scenario is playing out right now in front of our eyes...I am counting the days until we see regime change for the Chicago White Sox. I can't recall the thread, but someone asked what the Sox will do in the Tigers and Red Sox series before the break. I said that they'd go 3-3 or 4-2, just enough to "force" KW into keeping the team intact. This team does seemingly whatever it can to f*** everything up.
  10. In a masochistic way, this is the most fun thing that's happened with this team in a while. It honestly feels more interesting than the Teahen/Jackson trade.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) Yeah if Teahen fired the first shots as it appears, then he gets what he deserves. I can't stand Oney as much as the next guy, but you can't expect a guy to say nothing when you get called out like that. Seriously? I'm sure you wouldn't say the same thing if it were your wife that he attacked. Oney could have easily just mocked how bad Teahen is at baseball. He went after the guy's wife. Always the wrong choice.
  12. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 06:00 PM) Ok in no way I'm defending oney here, but teahen needs to shut up, be professional and just ignore that bag of s***. Now the sox really can't stop oney from tweeting, but they can and need to step in when oney is blasting every former player that his father managed, oney has no right getting into a company's affairs. This is a PR disaster for the sox and the chairman and not Kenny needs to step in. It has to stop, oney needs to realize that social media is not to be starting s*** in name of the whitesox, even tho it's not direcly, but his father is employed by the Chicago white sox and whatever he says could and will affect the image of that corporation. And if teahen didn't like Ozzie or the guillens he souldn't have signed that 4 year extension. While Teahen shouldn't have started it (if he did), I'm glad that he did it. This is one more step in the right direction of firing Ozzie.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) As much as I love the White Sox(and I will until the day I die) it's becoming increasingly hard to root for this management group and this group of players. I never thought being a Sox fan would be this f***in hard. I've seriously soured on this team a lot. It's like being married to someone for years thinking that you love them, and then one day you really start to question it. Like, how did I get to this point?
  14. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) The beauty of Teahen's tweet was that it was deliberately vague, but obvious who he was referring to. Oney took the bait. It was perfect. A child like Oney couldn't resist it.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) He's still lucky that Jenks didn't destroy him. Do you mean physically or his reputation?
  16. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) kid needs to grow up. he's how old? 25 i can't believe he's so immature. pretty embarrassing. He never will, not with his daddy supporting him financially and allowing him to say whatever he wants about anyone at any time.
  17. On another note, I'm going to pay specific attention to what Hawk says during the game tonight. I'll be pretty angry if he throws Teahen under the bus.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) On twitter? Possible, but remember, the news guys in Chicago all follow his feed for stuff like this. I'm surprised there hasnt' been anything about it written yet. Following the time frame, it would have been about 9 o'clock on a Sunday night. That's probably an easy time to miss a tweet what with family and relaxing, no?
  19. Can Oney have said something and deleted it? Or more likely, said something to someone who passed it on to Teahen?
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 04:52 PM) Unbelievable...I can't believe that people still defend him QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 04:53 PM) 1.) He will go to Florida and win 14 World Series titles. 2.) We will just complain when they hire Cora. Haha, I feel like a moron because I didn't get what fathom was going for at first.
  21. I'd be suspended if I said what I truly want to happen to Oney. Perhaps banned.
  22. s*** is going to pop, and I love it. Every passing second draws the departure of Ozzie closer. So it looks like Teahen DIDN'T start this thing with the "worthless son" tweet. Oney fires the first shot yet again?
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) Yep. I generally don't participate in the wave either, but not because of any distaste I have for people having fun at the game, but usually because I am too lazy. Haha. I'll do the throw the arms up while sitting down manuever maybe. But I don't see the point in wasting energy to hate it and be a killjoy for those who enjoy it. Not everyone goes to baseball games to scout the players and watch every single pitch. People go for the atmosphere, the fun, the people, the entertainment, and the relaxation. Hell, I don't even see 80% of the pitches in a game. I am talking to someone, getting food, watching drunk fans, taking in the ballpark, texting on my phone, going to the bathroom, what have you. God forbid some kids who don't even understand what is going on in front of them take part in the wave. Even if they do pay attention, it's not like standing for 1-2 seconds at a time is going to throw you off so much that you have no idea what is transpiring on the massive field in front of your eyes. That's ridiculous. Anyway though, I don't care for the wave but I certainly don't care if anyone is doing it. They happen once or twice a game for about 5 seconds. The constant getting up and down is an actual problem, though. I know some posters think it's crazy that they have rules in hockey that you can't return to your seat until there is a break in the action, but that should be the case.
  24. Oney telling Teahen to choose his battles wisely...the f***ing cockiness of that asshole is unbelievable. I honestly wish nothing but the absolute worst for him.
