  1. That's what I meant, though. Those two are literally right on I-90.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 08:32 AM) I finally watched A history of Violence over the weekend. Not bad although I expected more out of it given the rave reviews my friends had given it. Also tried watching The Man From Earth based on qwerty's suggestion. Was totally getting into it and Netflix streaming cut it off at the 26 minute mark. When I went back to the description page it shows up as a 26 minute long film which is wrong. IMDB shows it as 1 hr 27 minutes. WTF!! Now I have to go find it somewhere since I got rid of the DVD plan with them. The entire run of A History Of Violence, I kept having two thoughts run through my head. 1.) What is the point of this/What's going on? 2.) Why did they make this?
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 02:51 AM) Didn't see Breaking Bad tonight, but my parents said it was awful. Barely watchable. I don't know about all that. It was a filler episode. Not great, but I didn't find it "barely watchable" either.
  4. I've done the Chicago-Boston trip and vice versa a few times. There is nothing for 1,000 miles, although I always thought it was cool that both Comiskey and Fenway are right on I-90. You can drive straight from one to the other.
  5. I was actually going to make that my sig a few months ago, but I dislike sigs in general.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) I'll say it - I wouldn't vote for him on his first ballot. If Joe DiMaggio, Jimmy Foxx and Roberto Alomar aren't first ballot Hall of Famers then neither is Jeter. Those first two weren't?!
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 03:25 PM) For the science nerds: Large Hadron Collider Sees Tantalizing Hint of Higgs Particle OK, I looked it up on Wikipedia. The article is way too long to read, as I will likely become incredibly interested and open about 30 tabs. Can someone give me a really quick overview of what that is and what it could mean?
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) Holy cow that Dexter preview makes me want to rub my genitals! My take... it seems Mos Def is kind of an alternate Dexter, he's clearly dressed in a black cloak carrying a scythe (dishing out punishment to those whose time has come?)... that would be quite amazing. Didn't they sort of do that last season with the chick?
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) We better win at least 5 of 6 or lose at least 5 of 6. That way decisions can be made to stay in this or to bail out, instead of being caught in the middle. I'll readily admit that I'm hoping for us to go on an extended losing streak and have been for a month. I truly believe it's better for our future.
  10. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) They'll win three and lose three over the next six, just to f*** with us... No doubt, maybe even 4-2.
  11. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 12:01 PM) I wasn't talking about the word "obligatory", I was talking about all of the other words used incorrectly - some even by me Oh gotcha. That makes a lot more sense in hindsight.
  12. Fukudome is a (relatively) proven major leaguer. Ozzie would find a spot for him. Rookies on the other hand, no.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:14 AM) I doubt there is anyone on this board that doesn't give KW any blame for this current mess. He should be accountable, so should Ozzie, so should JR, so should the coaches, so should the players. I don't know if you have noticed, it seems the most frustrating part of this season is how no one IS apparently taking accountablity. Nothing changes. If the Sox don't win this division and this brand of baseball continues the next 64 games, when they give you the line they gave after 2007 that no one could have seen this coming, maybe not, but certainly a lot of teams would have done SOMETHING about it by now. The problem is the GM and manager apparently don't get along and seem IMO to be trying to get the Chairman to be on their side. They are working harder at winning over JR than they are at trying to win games, and each has too big of ego and is too stubborn apparently to admit they were wrong and change it up a bit. You said it, brother.
  14. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) Obligatory incorrect use of a word in a post, post. How do you mean? Obligatory means required, and most of these types of posts are pretty normal/necessary in a thread like this.
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 07:47 AM) Speaking for myself, I still love this damn site, it’s the team that it represents that I’m starting to not be able to stand. Same here.
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) Obligatory "this site is going downhill and that's the reason I don't post as much anymore" post. Obligatory "let us change everything to get you to post more because, for some reason, you're that important to the site" post.
  17. Obligatory "this site is going downhill and that's the reason I don't post as much anymore" post.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 06:10 PM) Chris Rongey talks to Ozzie Guillen every.single.day. Next. Chris Rongey does nothing but toe the company line. It's actually kind of insulting that you would bring his name up as though anyone would consider him a source of any information other than EXACTLY what the organization wants you to hear. Next.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) See I don't think the question was "reasonable" from a common sense stand point. They could have asked him anything about the pitching staff. Anything. Instead not only do they ask him about a position player, but a position player who isn't even in Chicago, and not only that, but a guy who Cooper hasn't seen since March in all likelihood. The hosts were doing the radio equivalent of trolling, and Cooper took the bait. That isn't a question for the pitching coach, at all. How do you think the Score guys who would answered Cooper if he asked them about what was going on at Q101? It makes sense when you consider, as fathom suggested, that Cooper is the only member of the Sox management with whom they routinely speak or to whom they have access. Your last analogy sucks, too. It'd be more like asking a WSCR host a question about a well-known problem on another WSCR show.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 12:13 PM) De Aza is a classic AAAA player, but you're still 100% right in saying this. Ugh, how many of those have the Sox brought up over the years?
  21. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) I understand your point, I just disagree. What do you want me to say: Oh you have such a great point, Cooper is an idiot for getting mad over a question that he should have truthfully and fully answered. Or is it, Cooper should have been more polite in not answering the question. Because if its the latter, I really dont care how he acts. If the radio station doesnt like it, they can fire him, but my guess is the contract is far more complicated than that. The latter is closer, yes. The reason that I do care is that it comes on the heels of Ozzie having a little blowup about playing badly in 90 games, or whatever he said, and soon after a disappointing series after a disappointing first half when people are already beginning to question the morale and fight in the team.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) No a stupid move would have been answering the question and having 10+ pages on "Coop thinks Viciedo should be called up". All this movie did was create some "drama" over nothing. There is more than one stupid way to answer a question. And it's not nothing. It is showing even more cracks in this team's collective psyche.
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:54 AM) If he is so bad, why does the radio station pay him? If he is in breach by hanging up and being a dick, why dont they fire him? The answer to those questions is, more people listen to a radio show when there is conflict, than when everyone is talking about rainbows and butterflies. The radio hosts asked Don Cooper a stupid question, I dont care how other people in different jobs may answer, most of you dont get interviewed on radio and have every word you say on record. The reason they asked the question was to hopefully trip him up. They werent asking the question hoping Cooper gave a vanilla answer or said "Im the pitching coach", they were hoping hed go on a tirade about how his staff is dynamite and Ozzie/Kw are screwing things up over a stupid fight on Viciedo. Cooper realizes "its a trap" goes off and hangs up. Not sure how this is shocking. We all understand this. What don't you understand about our point?
  24. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) It's easy to tell by just watching how the fielders react. One of the main reasons that I can no longer stand Hawk. Screaming for an obvious popup to stretch is just annoying. Look at the outfielder camp 15 feet away from the track and you can see it easily.
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:47 AM) Yeah, I agree...but I think it's pretty clear that Ozzie/Kenny/Coop have been this way for awhile now. It's news on an off day, not much else. Timing is everything, though. After a disappointing series with the Royals after a disappointing first half, with a lot of rumors circulating about the future of the management, it all seems a little bigger. Let me just say that I am thankful for something to talk about, good or bad, with this team.
