QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) Actually I think that Mack will give you more stolen bases now that Mr. Dergan has been neutered on the base paths. Mr. Dergan is hurt, there is no other explanation why he is slow now. Well, then there's absolutely no reason for Pods to be starting with Mackowiak on the bench. Not a single reason.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) OK, I know this is a little behind, but I thought Freddy really showed up gload on that chopper, then absolutely fell asleep on the pop up that AJ caught am I just nit picking? I saw the same thing. By my count, it's the third time Freddy has shown up a teammate.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) Well in general Gload is a very good base runner and a pretty heads up player. He's so consistent that i have no doubt that he could hit .300 or near .300 as an everyday player. He lacks pop but I also think he could hit 15 Hr's. Problem is he's always stuck on the wrong teams (behind so many good 1st baseman whether it was in Colorado, the Northside or here). The one flaw I'd have with Mack is I don't think he does a good enough job working the count. But Mack would be a major upgrade defensively and like Gload, Mack is an above average baserunner who does the little things. Mackowiak's defense, arm, average, power, and OBP are all much better than Pods'. Mackowiak won't steal as many bases, but he will steal them intelligently. His caught stealing won't be near as many as Pods. Mackowiak is a better base runner...and he hustles more.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) Maybe if our players would communicate on the field, they might have been able to have a chance to get him out. I'm talking about on Shealy's single to Gload. It looked to me that Freddy showed up Gload right after it, but Ross was facing the other way anyway.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) I think Mack and Gload should just start and leadoff. I'm not kidding either. I've been calling for Mack to lead off for a while now. A long time.
-
Anyone notice Freddy's reaction after the infield single by Shealy? I think he showed up another teammate.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) "Can you smell what Freddy Garcia is Tokin'"!? I was gonna say that Freddy is gonna lay the smack down on these jabroni's and roody-poo, candy asses, but I can't top yours. Nice.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) It's funny, but if he wins the GG this year, it will be more because of what he's doing on offense than it is defense. Crede had a better defensive last season, in my opinion. Our 3 best all-around players this year have been Dye, Crede, and Konerko. You know I'm calling you that or Curt the reason of the season. I'd be very happy with that. And just like that, we've hijacked another thread and brought it to wrestling.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) Also the green seats are the reason that Vazquez sucks. You don't think Boras clients have a tendency to have career years right before they sign a contract? QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) No Mr. Milkman, don't kill me. Can I call you Mr. Milkman, sir? Whatever you want me to do I'll do it, master. Mr. Perfect will do.
-
QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:24 PM) I'm just kidding around, you're a good poster. I'll kill you.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) His numbers from 03-05 were pretty consistant. After looking, it seems he had a better 2003 than 2005. Still, I'm just a little wary of anybody with Boras as their agent. QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) Milkman, ever since you got rid of the Milkman avvie, you seemed to have gotten a new attitude. You seem to have such strong opinions now, but when you had good ol' Herbert in your avvie you just seemed like a good, reliable, unintimidating guy. Now I cower in fear at the sight of your posts. That a compliment or no? QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) His only competition for the Gold Glove this year is Mike Lowell, so Crede is basically sitting on a 50/50 chance of winning one this season. And since Mike Lowell is on the Red Sox...we all know the rest of the story.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) Crede is the best infielder on the team, and one of the best hitters. He is a top notch 3B IMO, and shoudl have a GG by the end of his career.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) Then why didn't he do this last season? Well, he had a better season last year than any before that, and now he has Thome in the lineup. That helps.
-
Well, I think part of the reason Crede is having such a monster year is because he's yet to sign a contract extension. I know he's said that he won't let Boras dictate whether he stays or goes, but he's still a Boras client. Those guys seem to have their best years right before signing a contract.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Neither is expected to be in the lineup today, especially Thome. When Thome gets back, I expect him to go on one of his homer tears. I just hope he gets back soon and that nothing lingers.
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) Personally for FA, I'd like to trade Buehrle for Oswalt, sign Alex Gonzalez(his defense is always there and he never takes bad offense out there into the field with him) and sign Mulder/Zito. Trade Vaz or Garcia for Scott Linebrink, and sign Rheal Cormier. That sounds like a whole lot of moves to me. Probably too many. Just looked, and I can't believe Gonzalez is batting .284. That is much higher than his career average. I don't really want him.

Javier Vazquez pissed at himself?

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) It's probably been asked before, but are we paying all of his contract? If not, how much? The Diamondbacks sent us like 3 or 4 million dollars, or something like that. We're pretty much paying all of it, and that makes me sad -
If it's true, we can blame Jose's agent for KW acquiring Vazquez. I now hate this man.
-
Haha, MacDougal. It's been spelled wrong in about 10 different ways on this site. Also, we need nicknames for both of them. Mac doesn't cut it anymore.

What is the Yankees' current payroll? And how much money do they have coming off of the books after this year?

Wait, does it even say in the article that he may be out for the year? -
What kind of deal is Matthews looking at this offseason? And who is his agent?

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) The Red Sox might be interested in signing Chris Widger according to the Boston Globe: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds..._least_a_month/ Wow, I suggested this half-jokingly in the thread in the Diamond Club. Would be funny. -
QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) Pujols > Ortiz Ortiz is the best in the AL, we'll just say. That way, there shouldn't be any argument.

Chris Widger is available. Now wouldn't that be hilarious?
