  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) Are we confined to looking at this season? Well, it was only a joke. But, whatcha got?
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 11:38 AM) Dusty Baker was a ridiculous clutch hitter. Well, I meant currently.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) He's been A LITTLE better on the gun with his fastball lately, but he's still not throwing enough fastball, and the ones he do throw still don't exactly pass the eye test. I hope your right though, if he can get his stuff back somehow he'd be WAY better off obviously. Off topic, but Ortiz is baseball's best clutch hitter.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:28 AM) Guillen said he can deal with errors, but he thinks the .248-hitting Uribe has recently been taking his offensive struggles onto the field. That's one of the big reasons Alex Cintron started at shortstop Tuesday. "(Uribe) looks like he cares less. I think he's trying to bring his bat to the field ... " Link I'm pretty happy with Uribe this year, minus the defensive miscues he's been having. I think this benching will get his head on straight and we'll see even better D out of him the rest of the year. He's right around .250, which is what I wanted out of him after that terrible start. I think he still has another hot streak in him this year, so I bet he'll finish up with an average possibly in the .260's and about 80 RBI. That's something to be happy with out of the SS position.
  5. Wow, the Royals' starter has a lower ERA than our starter. How often does that happen?
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) The problem is of course that ozzie insists that we need a backup Center Fielder who will start in CF every 3rd game, thus putting one of the worst defensive center fielders in the game out there for us, and costing us at least 1 run it seems every time he's out there. (Last time he was out there, on Sunday, he short-hopped 2 balls Anderson would have had easily, at least one of which turned into an RBI). Wow, exactly what I've been saying. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks he costs us every single time.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:19 AM) Defensively, it is a very significant drop off if he's in CF, which is where he is most of the time. He doesn't seem to get that point. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:19 AM) Our lack of a back-up CF is absolutely important. It's come back to haunt us about 10 times this season, and we would likely have had 2 or 3 more wins if there was a better defensive option out there. Mackowiak has been excellent at the plate this year...but his defense in CF is absolutely medicore. When you say we have a lot of problems, a lot of them come from our awful outfield defense this season. Our starting pitching has struggled this season, but they've gotten no help from our LF defense and CF back-up. A lot of rallies have started against us do to miscues out there. Thank you.
  8. This is exactly what I've been wanting out of Ozzie this whole year. Tell these guys that lackluster play isn't going to be tolerated. Keep your head in the game and focus, or Ozzie's gonna bust some skulls.
  9. The depth that KW has provided is really coming in handy the last few days. I just wish we had the decent back-up CFer.
  10. When it comes to the swingman or possible replacement for Riske, I'm hoping there's a guy out there that Coop already knows how to fix (ala Thornton) that KW can get on the cheap. Not a guy we hope he can fix, a guy we know he can fix because he's seen enough tapes on him.
  11. I think Dye is the kind of person that would move to LF if a better defender for RF were found. The guy is a classy, classy individual. He took less money to come here because he made a verbal agreement with KW. You're not going to find many guys like him in baseball.
  12. I would maybe like Dave Roberts as the 4th OFer. He can play CF, right? Other than that, maybe get someone to repalce Riske (or re-sign him), a swingman, LFer, and perhaps Oswalt. Hm, that's actually a lot.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 09:21 AM) Thank you for at least being honest about what's really bugging people about Vaz, the $$$ that KW gave him. KW didn't give him any money. The Yankees did. We just took on almost all of it, though. Oh, and Alomar has looked pretty good, even though it's such a small sample. His arm actually doens't look bad at all, and he's a bit more mobile than I expected. He can really contribute if it's only once every 5 days.
  14. I posted this in the game thread, but I wanna put it here, too. You honestly have to read this if you were a Hogan fan. http://www.progressiveboink.com/archive/brookehogan.htm
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) And if she doesn't understand, ditch her. Or give her a taste of the back of fathom's knee for being so ignorant.
  16. This was the best game thread ever, without a doubt. You all have a great night.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) No Rally Ball in Cup? IT'S A BALL IN A CUP!
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) Bobby will put em away, book it. Bobby won't do much, it'll be all rally crede, whore, hogan, seizure, wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man.
  19. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:06 PM) Just tuned in, how did Mark look? He had a rough first inning, giving up a 2-run homer to Sanders. He then went on to pitch into the 6th and looked good, until he fell off of a cliff and died on impact.
  20. QUOTE(champ @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) Riske proves that most of you have no idea what you're talking about. This game thread was going smoother than any I have ever seen, until this guy came along.
