  1. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) If that trade rumor was true, then Peter Angelos is the worst GM in the history of everything. You do that trade, and you don't think twice about it. Period. I also have moved the O's up the list of "Worst Franchises in the History of Sports," now up there with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals and the NBA's Atlanta Hawks. Owner, he's the owner. And that's the biggest problem. He doens't let the GM do what's best for the team. He interferes.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) yeah, they span a wide variety of space. There is a 20 one. But I think the price difference for the ones you would be looking at aren't huge, so it might be worth it just to have the extra space I've looked, and I can't find any 20 gb ones. I think they discontinued them or something. It's just strange that they have such an enormous gap between the sizes.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) I get the feeling nothing Is gonna happen. Yeah, this deadline is almost as bad as last year's. At least that one turned out well in the end
  4. I don't really see what good he would serve, unless we are trading one of our other relievers, moving McCarthy into the rotation, or going with a 12-man pitching staff.
  5. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:59 PM) What magical trade are you waiting for? It's not out there. There are no line changes for entire starting rotations. Our best chance isn't making some desperate move at the deadline. It's getting the starting 5 to pitch to their career norms, or rather their full potential. Why not at least get a 4th OFer? Someone that can come into a game for Anderson or Pods and play good defense, thus preventing more runs from scoring. As small of a move as that is, it would still go a long way to helping us. I'd be satisfied with that (Clark, hopefully). And I'd be ecstatic if we dumped Garcia/Vazquez for another starter, even if that happens to be McCarthy.
  6. I actually have another ipod question. Do they really only make like 2/4 gb ipods and jump all the way to 30/60 gb ipods now? I was going to get one, so I looked online. I have about 12 gb's of music on my computer, so the smaller ones are not enough, but then the larger ones seem like overkill.
  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) For real. Can't wait to hear Hawk tonight say how it would have been stupid to make any moves as this team will be unstoppable once they get it going. Yeah, once they hit that magical point in the schedule where everything starts to click. That should be any day now. Any day... ::tumbleweed::
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) Buster Onley was on the Dan Patrick show. He thinks that the Mike McDougal trade will do it for KW. That KW believes that his team is good enough. He thinks that the Twins might get Soriano, but they might back off because they can win without him. Fudge
  9. Whoa, I just looked at his numbers. I don't want him at all anymore.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:04 PM) This would be the type of guy that could come in while Bmac goes into the rotation or down into AAA and eventually moves into the rotation. That is the only reason that this trade interests me, the fact that it might mean something else will go down.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) There are many options to weigh. Tradables: Vaz Garcia Cotts (seriously) Gload Ozuna Cintron Prospects We have a little bit of something something to offer. He is out there seeing what he can get. Riske can pitch several innings if needed. As could cotts. I'm just saying that there's precious little time left. He's got 3 hours to not only make a reasonable deal, but to outbid everyone else trying to get Lidge. I don't see it happening.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) I honestly wonder if they don't want to acquire someone like that because they don't know who they'd have to release/send down from their 25 man roster. If they don't make a move to help the team because they don't want to hurt someone's feelings, then their priorities aren't in order.
  13. Well, if KW is going to do something, which I doubt he will, he better get on his horse. Three hours left.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) Not sure I get this one. I'd almost think they will platoon Casey and Shelton at 1st base, and neither of them have a whole lot of power. It's a lefty bat, but not nearly the quality one the Tigers need. But then again, they are on pace to win about 212 games, so what the hell do I know. They optioned Shelton to AAA. It would be impossible for him to platoon with Casey from another state.
  15. Good call on McClain's part. Lidge is never going to be the same for that team, and he'll draw a king's ransom. I like the way that guy works.
  16. At the very least, he has to get a serviceable 4th OFer. That would likely prevent a few more runs from scoring on the greatest 5-man rotation in the history of mankind.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 01:27 AM) OH. MY. GOD. I think Angelos may be retarded. How in the blue hell do you pass that deal up? I'm convinced that guy does NOT want to win for some reason. And the Orioles are now on the top of my list of worst organizations in baseball.
  18. Yes, they need a move. It's too late in the season to expect or hope for players to "start performing like they should." They need a shake-up. This team, as is, is not getting it done.
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) Why wouldn't someone take Garcia? He's got the notion as a "big game pitcher", his contract is pretty reasonable considering the market, and his ERA isn't brutal this year; we all expected better than 4.85, but that isn't awful. In the NL, He's probably a 3.90 ERA guy who will give you innings -- that's valuable. I doubt the Sox would get a Mark Mulder type package, but I think we can grab two B-grade prospects. Hey, I hope you're right. I just don't think someone's going to take all of his contract.
  20. So basically, this is statistical proof that the division is over? Fantastic.
  21. How about all of you guys start earning your paychecks at some point? Thanks, that'd be great.
  22. QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Just because of this thread, Javy will go 8+ today just to give soxtalk a big middle finger. Even funnier in retrospect. Just look at my sig
  23. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:13 PM) Guillen did have quicker hook as you said. Although you weren't trumpeting that fact in the game thread, I wish you'd be a bit more consistent with your opinion. I realize the pack mentality is hard to paddle against, witness Yasny bailing out in the midst of a stoning. I think that's pretty exaggerated. YASNY said the homer was a fluke, and then people disagreed with him and he left. I fail to see how it was a stoning.
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) I realize there are errors, but it works both ways. The page also has Thome making $14, when he's really only making $7. It also has Vazquez making the full $12.5 -- I believe it's only $9-10. Here's the 13 highest paid players on the Sox: 2007 Salary Buehrle - 9.5 Contreras - 9 Garcia - 10 Garland - 10 Konerko - 12 Vazquez - 10 Dye - 6.5 Thome - 7 Pierzynski - 5.5 Uribe - 4.15 Crede - ??? Iguchi - 3.25 Mackowiak - 2.5 So you're estimate was closer than I thought, but it's still at about $95 million (I'm giving Crede about $6 million). In itself, I guess you were right, but that doesn't include the fact that the Sox will probably be shedding $10 million with the trade of Vazquez/Garcia, and adding in McCarthy. Is some team really doing to be stupid enough to take Vazquez or Garcia off of our hands without us eating a decent chunk of their salary? I don't think anyone will. To get rid of either of them, we'll have to throw some money the other team's way, too.
