  1. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Um, you got that backwords. Washington is more of a pitcher's park. His road ERA is 5.25, and his ERA was 4.86 with the Sox last year, and 8.50 with the Yankees. No thank you. Sorry, was thinking pitcher friendly and typed hitter. I guess he probably would look like last year's edition with the addition of the Cell as his home park.
  2. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) He was a joke when we traded him. He's not exactly tearing it up now anyways. Add the fact that he is in the NL and not in the Cell, he'd be doing about the same. Plus he was demanding a ridiculous sum of money considering how little he did in his contract year. Regardless, I'd still take his sub-4 era (3.81 as a matter of fact). His splits suggest he pitches significantly better at home, so maybe Washington is just a hitter's friendly park that is the root of his success.
  3. How do they allow these horns to go on? Isn't there some rule against artificial noise makers?
  4. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) The Yankees panic the second there is any trouble with any of their players. They never hang on to guys when they're struggling. Plus I wouldn't put to much stock in the personnel decisions of a team that willingly took Esteban Loaiza. Hey, I'd take the season ELo is having this year over Contreras or El Duque any day.
  5. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) Next time Contreras pitches we should take bets on the over/under of Contreras walks issued. I set it at 6. OVER
  6. QUOTE(wherehaveyougoneharold @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) From what I've seen, lets all take a moment a thank god they're not going to the post season. We just can't win out there. They've won 7 in a row and are slowing climbing back into contention. There is a shot that could comeback seeing as they have been a 2nd half team in the past.
  7. I want to rip my f***in head off. We can't throw strikes, we walk in two runs, we take 2 hours to play 5 innings of baseball, and THAT f***ING HORN IN THE BACKGROUND IS GNAWING INTO MY BRAIN. JESUS CHRIST, can't they edit that s*** out of the background noise or something.
  8. Does anyone else want to kill themselves after hearing that annoying ass horn that blows in the background? I can't blame these guy for pitching like s*** now that I think of it.
  9. QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) your sig frightens me. I could make it more frightening...all I would have to do is put up a picture of Kevin Walker's gay ass.
  10. Kevin Walker is a f***ing cocksucker, why is he in the major leagues? God damn sperm dumpster.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) One more, Walker, and you'll get your props. You know that's not true, Kevin Walker could win us a World Series and he would never get props.
  12. How does this guy not have like a 10.00 ERA or something. He gives me an ulcer every game he pitches.
  13. Twins lead 7 to 4 on a triple by Jacque.
  14. For those interested, Twins tied it up at 4 on a walk to Torii. Bases Loaded with 1 out in bottom of the 8th. EDIT: See I was beaten to the punch.
  15. Magglio went 1 for 4 with a 2 run homer off the Big Unit in his return. You can say what you want about him, but I still like to see Magglio do well (unless it's against us).
  16. QUOTE(bogie @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) They wouldn't have to put Hermanson in if they would have scored a dam run in the 8th. YOU HAVE TO PITCH HIT FOR BUEHRLE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE 2 GOOD OPTIONS. TERRIBLE MANAGED GAME. So your saying that Hermanson wouldn't have pitched in a 2 or 3 run save situation if they scored the runs? Get real, if Ozzie is willing to pitch him a one run game he would have definately pitched him in the ninth regardless of the lead. You can blame what turned out to be a bad outing by Hermanson on Ozzie all you want, but it simply isn't Ozzie's fault that his guy didn't get the job done.
  17. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) 2 things. #2 Hermanson has lost velocity the last few games. We've all noticed it, why hasn't Ozzie? I was talking about it with my dad while we were watchng the game. Politte should have started the ninth, then Cotts should have finished the game if necessary. Hermanson needed tonight off and Ozzie, with his blind faith, threw him back out there. Even so, there's no guarentee that Politte and Cotts come in and shut down the Padres. If they blew the loss everyone who question why Hermanson was put into the game (see game against Angels). Don't blame Ozzie for putting a guy perfect in save opportunities out there. Now he has a reason to not pitch Hermy and can make the move with justification. Hindsight is 20-20. Now letting Buehrle hit is more of a mistake, but even so we had the lead the whole time.
  18. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) Why was Buerhle hitting with runners on the corner no outs with Frank Thomas and Everett on the bench???? Given Buerhle was only going to maybe pitch to two more hitters he should have been pinch hit there Even then why was Pods batting with the same situation one out? Ozzie screwed up today. And Paulie was home....that was a bad call by the umps None of this matter if Hermanson doesn't blow the save. I know you don't want your pitcher batting in a critical situation, but he was pitching lights out so you have to deal with it. Also, Pods had been 6 of 7 in getting the runner in with a man on third and less than 2 outs, so second guessing that one is a mute point. Paulie was out at home, his foot was hovering just above the plate when the tag was applied. You can second guess everything about this game but the fact of the matter is that our closer didn't get it done. These things happen and you just have to go out and rebound tommorrow.
  19. I'm no fan of Mariotti by any stretch, but what he says in this article is true. He praises the White Sox if you actually read the article, but states that a game pitting the two best teams in the league against each other on the weekend should draw full houses. What about that is so completely off-base? He's right, although many people will shade themselves from the truth and argue against him no matter what he says. When the White Sox's bring in less people for a game against the Orioles than the Cubs will have in their lowest attendance, you know there's a problem. Mariotti is not gonna kiss the Sox or Sox's fans asses and tell people what they want to hear. If he did, he wouldn't have a job. He will continue to tell people what they don't want to hear because it makes people like us talk about him.
  20. I don't know about anybody else, but I am annoyed at the way some White Sox fans on this board view the media (namely ESPN). Seriously, if the White Sox are not written about, people b**** and moan for the lack of recognition. If they are written about but in some way that could be considered remotely negative, people b**** and moan about the 'errors' of the author . If they are written about in a good way praising the Sox, people b**** and moan that they don't want the media to recognize them because they want to fly under the radar. I've seen it all this season as far as these points of views and simply would like Sox fans to not be so rediculous in their complaints. Just because someone doesn't think that the White Sox will win 100 games and go to the World Series doesn't mean that the guys a f***ing moron like some fans would want you to think. Chances are these writers are giving a far more objective view on the Sox than fans who are inclined to side with their team regardless of the point. For example, any writer who questions the White Sox pitching staff isn't necessarily a moron, but probably poses a valid argument given the past of the staff. Just support the White Sox and let them handle any doubters with solid play and victories. I'm not saying don't criticize anyone, but do it with an open mind and don't b**** when they present views against the White Sox that they can support. Also, get used to the fact that the White Sox are not Barry Bond, the Yankees, Cubs, or Red Sox. They will never get the national attention that these teams or players due. Every city's fans want their teams to be recognized on the national level, but there's simply not enough time to in a day to suit everyone. ESPN, realizing their audience, obviously will show more highlights of teams that have massive fan bases. That is not being jerkoffs or assholes, it's called good business. The White Sox will never get extra attention until they earn it time and time again. These are just my feelings on the media, so feel free to oppose them. BTW, I understand the hatred for those who make bold statements using false information or irrevelant statistics.
  21. Leave him in says Ozzie. Marte got himself into this mess, let him get himself out.
  22. QUOTE(JohnStamos @ May 10, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) He plays with fire sometimes with his unorthodox moves, but I guess I have no room to complain if it works. However, I would like to see Hermanson pitch a bit more in situations like this. Checking the stats I appear to be a bit mistaken. I am surprise to see that Hermanson is second in innings pitched out of the bullpen only to Viz. That surprises me for some reason.
  23. QUOTE(quickman @ May 10, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) I disagree with the way Ozzie manages every game, fortunatly we win all of them and I look like s***. But he doesn't do anything he is suppose to do. Its like he just makes things up. He plays with fire sometimes with his unorthodox moves, but I guess I have no room to complain if it works. However, I would like to see Hermanson pitch a bit more in situations like this.
