Wow, I did not even realize that I typed that...that would be a great price for Brian...but my point remains, this off season is messed up

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AkgX...p&type=lgns That Podsednik deal doesn't look to bad by comparison with what everyone else is doing. Brain Roberts career stats are nearly identical to those of Pods in every way and he is 4 years older and probably on the decline...seriously, do teams actually think before they make these deals?

Is it just me or does the Fox broadcast seem different? It appears like there's some sort of cinematic camera effect goin on...it's really wierd.

QUOTE(zygoat @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) I saw the boxscore today adn who got the loss and my heart almost stopped. Cliff Politte gave up a walk off HR to somebody (not good) on the pirates. I worry for him and i thought he would be better after coming off the DL (Granted i have to give him some time to get back into swing). I also remember Montero pitching extremely tough against the pirates last night and that got me wondering if politte should build up his confidence in AAA while Montero stays with us. Just my thoughts, what about you guys Well that somebody who he gave up the homer to is good (batting over .360 this year), but he's not a power guy who you would expect to go deep. Montero, while better than Politte, is not the solution either. The fact of the matter is we have one major concern in the bullpen that we can't really solve internally.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) Ozzie's got to take as much of the blame as Politte here. Where's Brandon McCarthy? Asking Politte to go a second inning was asking for trouble, and Ozzie knew it. The logical move would have been to make a double switch. Bring in McCarthy and have him bat in Uribe's spot. Bring in Ozuna and have him hit 9th to lead off the 10th inning. Ozzie also nearly blew last night's game. Instead of Mack v. Capps and Ozuna v. Marte, we had righty-righty and lefty-lefty with Uribe on 3rd. Had Pods not come through with a hit, we'd have lost that game too. I'm pretty sure Ozuna is hurt or else we would have seen him in previous games. I do agree that Politte should have been out in favor of anybody else.

Alright, I know Politte sucks and he should have never been in the game in the first place, but can someone please acknowledge the fact the Contreras sucked today and was probably the main reason for the loss. He blew two seperate early leads very quickly and, although Thome got him off the hook, he probably deserved to lose.

Where's the guy who said he would rather have Cliff Politte than Roberto Hernandez now?
-
Well, you know the leadoff man is gonna be on this inning for the Pirates, so we just gotta hope for a DP ball.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) Dont nibble Cliffy. Remember Nibbles from Tom and Jerry. Wow, Nibbles is smoking hot!

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) Thome's homerun is only the 2nd to get in the river. DJ just said it was the 27th ball. Maybe 2nd this year...

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) Polite, Riske, and BMAC are better options, for free. You don't have faith in a guy who had a low 2 era going into the game because he gave up a homer to one of the best players in the game but you do have faith in a guy with a 7.40 era? Give me a break, Politte isn't the pitcher he was last year (I don't think he's as bad as he's been this year). I wouldn't want to give up a lot to get a guy like Roberto, but I'd surely take him in our BP right now.
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) Yeah, and people are looking for Hernandez to be added as bullpen depth? LOL. Don't give up anything for him. This is what you can expect the remainder of the season from American League opponents. Imagine Mauer or Morneau hitting off of him? Well if you're gonna get beat by anybody, Thome's not a bad person to get beat by. He has pitched real well this season on a horrendous team that could have very well made him lose focus. I'd still take him as added depth to the BP right now...

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) it went in the river? well, i think it bounced in there but still

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) Looking at stats on Yahoo...he has the best numbers of the AL 2nd basemen. I put my vote in. Go get 'em Gooch. To say that he has the best numbers of the AL 2nd basemen is ridiculously false. I don't know what stats you're looking at but Jose Lopez is having a superior first half. However, I'm all for getting the Gooch voted in.

This story is good and all, but what were you expect Tracey to say? If he complains about the situation or says he has no regrets over what happened, do you think he'd ever see the field with the Ozzie Guillen led White Sox? I may be wrong, but I think it's nearly impossible that Tracey isn't even a little bitter over the position he was put in, and now he's saying the right things to prolong his future with this organization. Nevertheless, I'm glad he's moved on and not let the occurence affect him.

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/powerRankings Those mighty, mighty, three over .500 D-Backs are better than the White Sox because they played a tougher schedule? Those NL West teams are surely better than the AL teams that actually have to play quality teams on a daily basis (minus KC)...

THERE WE GO MACK!!!!!!!!
-
This is what we should have been doing in innings 9-10...hopefully we can scratch on out here.
-
That a boy AJ.
-
Is it just me or does it seem that we get very homer hungry in extra inning games?

QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) It's going to be fun watching our offense hit against Sabathia tomorrow. Could someone explain what "ball 4, base hit" means again? Isn't it self explanatory? He wants the guy to reach base via walk or hit. -

QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) I would rather see him suck at the plate then having Mack suck in center. I disagree. While Brian has looked good in center, plays recently where he hasn't backed up are inexcusable considering his batting performances. -

For the love of God please send Brian Anderson to AAA.
