QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 8, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) I've been addicted to these chips ever since I've been here, I suggest you go try a pack (the Salt and Vinegar ones); http://www.poorebrothers.com/xml/cart/cata...category=100001 At last, something the British are better at than the US in the world of food! I can never get over how BORING most American Crisp (chip) flavours are ( I'm not talking about all the spicy Nacho/ corn chip type things, but the regular potato crisp), cream cheese and chives is about as exiting as it gets. Over here we range from; Prawn Coctail to Tomato Ketchup flavours, through salt and vinegar, cheese and onion, Worcestershire sauce flavours. We even had Hedgehog flavoured for a time!

Fox hunts Brit laffer Pilots reach across pond, to past By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER Fox has traveled across the pond to find its "Union Jackass," a comedy pilot starring British character actor Al Murray. Net has also greenlit the drama "Drive," a sudsersudser revolving around an "Amazing Race" competishcompetish, but on acid; and CBS has ordered the grandpa/grandson laffer "Generations." On the casting front, "MASH" veteran David Ogden Stiers is set to return to network TV in Fox's "Worst Week of My Life," while Balthazar Getty and Chazz PalminteriChazz Palminteri have landed roles in upcoming pilots. Also, the CW has found its "Girlfriends""Girlfriends" spinoff stars and Simon West ("When a Stranger Calls") is set to direct the CBS pilot "Under Pressure." "Union Jackass," from 20th Century Fox TV and Avalon TV, stars Murray as an outspoken Brit who is forced to relocate to the Colonies -- specifically, Santa Monica -- when his ex-wife and young son move there. Dan O'KeefeDan O'Keefe ("The Drew Carey Show""The Drew Carey Show") will write and exec produce, along with Jon Thoday, Richard Allen-Turner and David MartinDavid Martin. "Union Jackass" is based on Murray's alter ego "The Pub Landlord," a cranky, Archie Bunker-like character who was born out of his stand-up act. As the Pub Landlord (who until now hasn't been given a name, but is referred to in the U.S. pilot as "Al"), Murray has starred in the Sky One sitcomsitcom "Time Gentlemen Please," the ITV1 special "An Audience With Al Murray the Pub Landlord" and the quiz show "Fact Hunt." Link If it does ever get aired, give it a go. I find him drop dead funny. Don't expect anything subtle like The Office, more like a slap in the face really.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ May 8, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) Actually I am heavily involved in Theatre. I am the Producing Director at a Theatre in Chicago. In addition, I am also an Actor. I did not go into Wicked looking for it to suck, in fact I saw the show on Broadway. it never resonated with me. I look past the spectacle. Spelling Bee I am really looking forward to also, plus I have a couple freinds in the cast. At the risk of turning SOXTALK into the Chicago Tourist Bureau; can you suggest any other plays/musicals, playing in Chicago mid August that my two teenage kids might enjoy? They wouldn't necessarily have to be at one of the major theatres.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 7, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) And there you have it, DePlod. Anyone who suggests Domino's>Lou's, they only mean trouble. It's like saying Danielle Steele>Charles Dickens. What more can you say? Enjoy yr Lou. Thanks everyone, not being a native, I'm sure we'd love anybody's deep dish, but Lou's it is. Now we've just got to sort breakfast out. As we'll be having a few of these, maybe this discision isn't quite so crucial. Don't worry, I won't be asking which hot dog stand we need to to frequent or open up the topic of ketchup or no ketchup.

Thank you all, Lou Malnati's it is then. Now then, does Lou Mitchell's on W Jackson Blvd realy serve the best breakfast ( I think it's in walking distance from our hotel, The Palmer House )?

How about Wicked?

If so, is it as good as they say it is?

Having read a load of "Chicago Visitor" sites lately and realising that we must experience a deep dish pizza while we are in Chicago, no one can come up with the definitive article. So I reckon this poll might be the answer, heated debate is acceptable but please, no throwing food at each other. Many thanks.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 1, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) Overall, I would just suggest putting more time and effort into your walls. Give him a break. How do you know how much effort and how long it took to come up with this? I do remember some of your first efforts and these are easily as good. Wsox08, your starting to get the hang of the "technique", now think a little more about the "design".

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 1, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) What are you going to be doing, and that will determine where you want to stay. Downtown is always a nice touch. I love the Palmer House Thanks Texsox, I've taken your suggestion. The hotel looks really nice.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 1, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) Can you pull up specific hotels or not? Also the best hint might be what you guys are planning to do while you are here. The right hotel could save you a train or bus ride for some attractions. Yes I can pull up specific hotels. I reckon I'll have to choose which attractions we want to visit first. Obviously U.S. Cellular Field will be on the Saturday night.

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 1, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) To make your trip better, before slamming the lid on the bonnet, you should learn to speak English like a good American, not that stuff you speak over there You've forgotten I'm bringing an official translator ( my Hillbilly wife) with me!
