QUOTE(Texsox @ May 1, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) What are you going to be doing, and that will determine where you want to stay. Downtown is always a nice touch. I love the Palmer House Thanks, as we'll be arriving a couple of days before the game (Sat) we'll want to take in a few of the major sights and sounds of Chicago. That hotel looks reeeeal nice though.

I am now trying to find a hotel. Not knowing Chicago at all, I don't know which area to choose. Can anyone help? The choices seem to be; DOWNTOWN Loop Near North North Michigan Ave River North South/South loop Lincoln Park/Lakeview. What is the best way to get around Chicago, we'll be coming in from O'Hare. Bus? Rail? Can we get a family pass for a few days?

Now that I like.

Having tried a few cheaper sets I treated myself to these. ( earphones) I realize that they are a bit expensive but they realy are the dogs bollocks. Sound quality is outstanding, they are so comfortable, you can't even feel them while running and they look great.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:07 AM) No Alaska? Hawaii? No England? BP (British Petrolium) today said that £1.00 a litre (I'll let you do the maths) will be charged in the near future, so you can all stop your moaning.

Well I finished it. My time was 4 hours 7 mins, although this is a PB I'm a little dissapointed, I was training for a time of sub 3.50 and the training went well. At 16 miles I was cruising, on target for 3.45, but at 18 miles my legs stopped working! Cramp in both calfs, right thigh and as for my left butt cheek, well it just gave up all together. I was unable to put two strides together and I had to hobble the last 8 miles. The frustrating thing was that unlike previous marathons, fatigue wasn't a problem, I wasn't particilarly tired, my legs just refused to work. Anyway I'm sort of happy with a PB and it looks like I've raised around £1100.00 for the Rainbow Trust (with a lot of help from you guys), so the run was worth it and there is always next time. BTW I'll post the final total when all my donations are in.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) I have a few Nono questions related to charging. I only have the cable that allows me to charge it through my lap top. Why the Eff does it take so long to charge? Is it faster with an AC charger? Also, if I'm not actually working on my laptop, it of course goes into 'sleep' mode and then apparently stops charging the Nano. I hooked it up one night, went to bed, the laptop went into 'sleep' mode, got up the next day, checked it and it had very little juice in it. Why does it de-charge even if I don't play it? I fully jucied it and took it with me on a weekend trip but never played it. When I got back home on Monday, it was totally dead. How is that possible? How long should it play when fully juiced? I think I'm lucky to get two hours. How long have you had it? If it's relatively new, I'd return it. I charge mine through my PC, it doesn't take long at all. I've never noticed the battery draining when not used. i couldn't tell you how much play time I get, I charge it regularly. I did notice that the battery logo turns rad at around the 50% mark, I then had a 2 hour run and it was still going strong at the end.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) Hey Deploder, check my post. The game starts back over, so we all got to pray to the rain gods and get some sun out so we can get 5 innings in Cheers. It looks like it isn't only me who is confused about the rules.
-
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) After 5, the game is official and it ends if cancelled. If its prior to 5, and it gets cancelled, it goes back to the inning currently being played, and starts over. So, if we make it up some other time, it'll be top of the 3rd, no outs, instead of 1 out. I'm glad we got the 2nd inning done before this, so Thome's homer didn't go away like Paulie's last year! GO SOX! I'm glad to here that. I'm still coming to terms with some of the finer points of the rules.

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) I love the avatar Deploderer TY I was going to use it as part of a wallpaper, but it just didn't fit.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 16, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) It would have to get 4/1/2 innings in (Ie if the Jays get there ab's in the top half of the 5th out of the way, than its an official game; assuming the Sox are winning at that point). ty

So how many innings need to be played before a game cannot be called off?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) Is that kind of like some sort of squash? I love squash. Simply mashed potatoe with plenty of grated nutmeg stirred into it, you've got to have tried it at sometime.
-
The local supermarket has a special on it's free range, corn fed Turkies. So that with piles of nutmeg mash, sweetcorn and gravy, with a Lemon Tart from the local French Farmers market (visits every 6 weeks) will have to do I suppose.

A bit off topic, but has anyone played or does anyone know of this ? An English company has it for sale and I thought my son might like it. Does anyone know if it's any good or is it likely to be used once and forgoten?

QUOTE(Soxy @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) They messed up the course last year so the runners actually had to run an extra mile. . . Ohhh that's cruel, that has got to hurt.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 15, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) DePloderer are you now tapering? I just did 18 miles in the heat yesterday and I swear it was harder than the Lake Shore Marathon last May and that was 27.2 miles. Good luck on the 'thon. Yes, I had a relatively easy week last week, only doing 1 hour tommorow and then a couple of short runs next week then the race. I agree though the long 3 hour runs are way harder than the actual race. thanks for the good wishes. BTW I know that everything in the USA is bigger than in the UK but are marathon's realy longer over there than over here?
