QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 08:07 PM) Throw in the Gregg/Heilman trades and letting Derosa go for nothing but financial relief and you're talking one epic ass fail. That team is in some SERIOUS long-term trouble. Jason Marquis, too...200+ innings again, 15 wins, under 4 ERA in Colorado. And they didn't think he was a viable 5th starter?

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) when the fans show apathy towards the team, the team shows apathy towards the game. At today's prices, that's just wrong.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 07:30 AM) The day after the JR firing up of the troops for next season speech. Beautiful. Ozzie has every right to be pissed off, and frankly shouldn't be a manager if it didn't bother him. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 10:33 AM) I'm kind of getting tired of Ozzie's antics. This is his go to media grab, the freak out. Both sides of this are valid, really. I have no problem with guys checking out other games, other sports, whatever. Big deal. But, one would have to have been in the clubhouse to understand if being PO'd was warranted. i.e. After the loss were most of the guys down, PO'd, or even just bewildered? If so and they just happened to be checking out the games out of interest or escape, fine, Ozzie out of line. Or were they apathetic, looking only to get to the nearest TV, little regard for any post-game reflection or words from the manager? If such is the case being PO'd is warranted, yet the problem is Ozzie has shot his wad so many times that those who've been around are no longer affected by it, and the youngsters can tell. Not good.

"Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago Cubs NLDS"

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 10:02 PM) Yeah, I thought Wrigley Field had the intensity of an ordinary game. You really notice it when comparing to our game yesterday, for example. And I know there weren't many opportunities for the Cub fans to be excited, but after the grandslam it was just dead. I think instead of the usual rowdy assclowns at Wrigley you saw a different set of fans buying $500-2000 ripoff Wrigley playoff tickets. That's what happens when a team's ownership works in conjunction with scam brokers like they do... Granted '05 Sox post-season tix weren't exactly Monday walkups, but you still saw a representation of the real fan at that time. -

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) My boss the cub fan said something really dumb today. He said if the brewers win the next 30 game in a row, they still can't catch the cubs. ...and you took him to mean that literally? -

QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 10:10 PM) So what would happen if this ends in a tie? IMO, the best way, even with some of the goofy matchups, is interleague play . As long as you have fans voting in some of these guys like Fukodome, and omitting players like Dye, this is hardly a fair way to do it.

QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 09:00 PM) well, at least I get the save for my fantasy team (even though I get the L for Danks on a great pitching performance). Great dude. Seriously. You don't know how happy we all are for you and your fantasy team. LMFAO!!! I gotta believe my 2nd favorite team is BearSox's fantasy team. Hey Bear...need a cap & jersey! -
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) The hundred year thing is not something I'd call on their side. The Very Cosmos have it in for the Cubs. Fate will let them sniff a championship, but the very balance of the Universe itself depends on a cosmically monumental collapse of the team just shy of that goal. Precisely. That or they'll just choke.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 04:07 PM) Its been interesting to see this rivalry become much more heated in recent years. Time was, 20 years ago, that the rivalry was barely there. More amusement about each other than anything else. But with interleague play since '97, the Sox championship in 2005, and fan bases much more hungry for winning (and spoiled) than they were before, its gained a new level of intensity. For 24 years, from 1959 to 1983, the city of Chicago didn't know October baseball. Winning was an oddity. In the 24 years since, Chicago has seen 9 post-season berths. Expectations are higher. And you can see it in the fans. Well put, NSS.

...not a sox fan here, but no fair-weathered cheerleadin' a$$clown either. I don't believe in the Cubs doing $h!t till it actually happens. What I'm sayin' is if this actually happened - no worries. You could count on the sox sending the Cubs home with their tails between their legs just like in '06.

White Sox Player/Pitcher of the Month: May

As good as the big three have been I'd have to say Contreras is the most inspirational to the rest considering the downward spiral he seemed to be in the last couple years. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 01:51 AM) QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 04:21 PM) Yeah, I saw the headline on rotoworld, and I wondered what kind of snark the comment would use. I should have realized, every joke's been used and it's just not funny anymore. There's nothing left to say. If this turns out to be the end of the road, I gotta say -- As much of an ass as he supposedly is, and as big of a disappointment as he certainly is, and as ebullient as I was when his team pissed away the NLCS, he was still one hell of a talent. Adios, muchacho. I recall him considering himself some kind of cross between Nolan Ryan and Roger Clemens. I'd imagine he atleast got the Clemens part correct. lol, that's probably right. Remember "calfzilla" when he first came up? Agreed...I think the Clemens part was correct... -

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ May 30, 2008 -> 04:38 PM) His Pirates argument really should not even be acknowledged. How anyone could think that Pittsburgh team would dominate ANY other team escapes me. Pittsburgh is better than Cincy and they swept Cleveland...if it weren't for the Cubs they'd have a decent record in the division.
