  1. Rooney's good, but Farmio's got the Sox attitude and optimism.
  2. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) Yep. I'm a huge, huge Biggio fan but Alomar was much better defensively and also better offensively, but not by as wide a margin. Not better offensively; he fell off the table, hard, about 3-4 years ago. Biggio's still producing in the clutch for the stros. Had Alomar not fallen so quickly, he probably could have been in the top 3 IMO.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) That's because I don't spout off garbage.... If I did, I would expect someone to say somthing....I'm just not going to sit here and let you throw out wrong info so you can b**** at the Sox. You mean like this? QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Listen. We've scored 5 or more runs at home in 10 of our last 15 home games. THAT IS NOT AN OFFENSIVE SLUMP. It's just a little team slump or this?? QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) We haven't had the right combination of offense and pitching at the same time at home over the past couple of weeks.
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) An opinion.. off base.. LMAO. Perhaps a youth baseball camp.. or a YMCA. Somewhere where he might make a difference and not in from of a bunch of adults that are already aware of the dangers of roids. "Hater material"... :dips*** Are you saying opinions can't be wrong? Sure, he should be going to a couple of youth baseball camps, rather than taking the biggest stage possible...
  5. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) Perhaps we can turn this into a very intelligent baseball discussion: The guy corked and juiced his way to some of the most prestigious records in the history of the game. The ultimate irony is that he didn't really attain any records. In every one of his "big" years he was outdone by someone else (a fellow cheater?)
  6. single instance? betting, by far. overall, 'roids changing, somewhat ruining the game. worse than either, the 'roids policy in place...
  7. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) Your avatar stinks. I know, but yours was already taken.
  8. Your opinion is so far off-base, it's borderline hater material. Would you have preferred a gushing, thankful, limp-wristed-wrigley-bleacher-like speech like most do? Tell me, what forum, if any, would be good for such a speech?
  9. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) Harold Baines has more hits than Ted Williams in his career. lol... QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) Hmm.. Joe D put up the same #s in 13 yrs that Yogi did in 19. Yogi, catcher. I doubt Joe D threw out or called anywhere near as many as Yogi. Nice apples to oranges comparison. Hey...is the love for Raffy still rampant after today's news?
  10. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) I'll go with Hank Aaron. He was so much more than a home-run hitter, and IMO he goes underappreciated. underappreciated by whom, soccer fans?? LOL...I can't believe I just read that HANK AARON is underappreciated!
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:36 AM) Apparently. Not sure I agree with the forum.. but so be it. OK. That was the ultimate forum. Young players should take heed. The most laughable, yet plausible outcome would be for abusers like soso never to get into the Hall.
  12. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) I also think Hornsby deserves top honors while most give it to Morgan. My list would include Craig Biggio though. Had Alomar had more years of numbers near his prime, he'd be in the top five. Unfortunately for him his dropoff was sharp, and final, dropping him below Morgan or Sandberg, no question. If you're looking at entire careers, BIGGIO >>> Alomar...it's not even close. BIGGIO >>> Maz for multitudes of reasons.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) P.S.: Connie Payton throws like a girl. I got chills when they announced her name. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 02:46 AM) Ummm, why? why? what the hell kind of question is that? you've never had the chills before? maybe a short, cool breeze blew through his row, then. maybe he's getting sick? maybe a drunken cubs fan spilled beer down his back. who cares why?
  14. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) How is their pitching better than ours? We have 5 guys in the rotation who have been sub-4 ERA pitchers this year, and 3 of them have been in the 3.00 range(Garland sub 3.00, Buehrle is at about 3.07, and Contreras is at 3.27). The Sox have had 2 elite relievers this year in Politte and Hermanson, 2 solid ones in Cotts and Marte, and two not-so-hawt relievers in Shingo and Vizcaino. The Cubs have had about no elite relievers this year whatsoever, and due to their bullpen struggles, they have lost several games that they should have won. Not only is all of the above true, but the White Sox also have a top 3 best pitching staff, statistically, in the AL. You see, Hideaway's banking on the "have been's" becoming "has been's", while looking towards "hope to be's" for the Cubs. The Cubs are probably better than they've played, but until they can prove something (anything) lineup-wise and show they can close a game out once in while, there's absolutely no argument.
  15. that "still have the best record" crap is just that...makes it sound like a fleeting thing. Here's the right attitude: QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) We lost the 1st game to Texas, but we now have Jon and Mark taking the bump. They're still 27-12, which still boggles my mind. Everyone take a step back. 'nuff said
