  1. QUOTE(Misplaced_Sox @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) I read the board alot.....actually almost two years now. Just started posting today. I'm the new guy so I know I could get hazed for speaking inflammatory about El Coacha. But he makes me hate him just curious. Why do you keep trying to make remarks to almost get banned? And you keep bringing attention to them.
  2. El Duque was left in too long. he should never of been in a position to give up 5 runs this inning. Too much trust out of the coaching staff
  3. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) Any Saluki's ever try to make the Century club? One shot of beer every minute for 100 minutes? If you puke, you're eliminated. About 10 of us tried it one Friday night. I only had it a tad over a half hour. Weak stomach, do I have. I did it. We used to call it the "Spelling hour of power", because we would watch "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Melrose Place" as our timer. the 100th minute would always be the 2nd commercial break of "Melrose Place", thats how we knew we were done. the first time I did it, i was the only one of 5 to finish. Of course, I was done at 10:30 PM, but it was fun.
  4. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) No, no, no, you got it all wrong. You are supposed to get Winston's bagels with no sweet stuff: cream cheese, cucumber, bacon bits, onion, sunflower seeds, butter, and garlic powder. Now that is a bagel. I went to the first Pinch Penny beerfest, I still have the glass. When we first got there we were complaining that 3 hours wasn't enough time to get our moneys worth. Three hours later there were no complaints. LOL, I had the exact feeling. Then the beerfest started, and I didnt have enough room for all of the beer. I dont know which one was the first beerfest, but i might have been there. We got rained on the first time, but we were so loaded it didnt matter. We drank from 2 that afternoon until 3:30 in the morning, nonstop. i have never consumed that much in that short span of time in my life. On the Bagels, I also forgot raisins and sunflower seeds. I get it with everything.
  5. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) I spent about 7 years in Carbondale, and loved every minute of it. Such a fun, laid back town and just minutes from a beautiful national forest. Damn, I'm missing it more now. I'm going back for the Main Street Pig Out in about 2 1/2 weeks. My buddy is trying to convince me to go to beerfest on the 17th at pinch penny. If it wasnt such a massive undertaking(wife and kid need to be taken care of) then i would do it in a heartbeat. I keep thinking about Winstons famous bagels. cream cheese(extra for me), green apple slice, butter, red onion, cucumber, cinnamon(no sugar added), bacon bits, and the optional garlic powder, all over a charcoal grill. You cant beat that for originality or taste. Sounds gross, but I will be damned if that isnt the best bagel I have had.
  6. This is pretty much Bruce's last day in the spotlight, i wonder if he will bring us any reputation-staking claims of trades before the day is over.
  7. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:29 AM) Yes!! You're gonna make me cry with these memories. I miss the place. it has its own mystique. I miss working at Quatros, the free food was worth the s***ty ass tips. I really am gonna miss watching SIU elevate their sports programs. It was the best 7 years i spent wandering aimlessly.
  8. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) Especially when your stomach is full of Rolling Rock or Natural Light. Depending on whay you could afford in Carbondale. Natty Lite, the leading cause of pregnancy in Carbondale. I remember quarter drafts at pinch penny like it was yesterday, dixie cups full of beer(well, they seemed that small to me).
  9. I am more impressed with the fact that Brandon stared down the team that really had his number, not to mention that they are a very good hitting/powerful team. His poise and stuff was amazing tonite, I was really worried that Texas was just getting started in the first game. He totally shut them down. Put that boy on the playoff roster. And following him with Jenks was pretty f***ing awesome too.
  10. Despite the 2 Ks, good start to the game for the Sox
  11. Even his publicity photo has a cubbie blue background.
  12. Michael Irvin apologizing for having a suitcase full of coke and hookers in a Dallas hotel room. edit: Steffs reply threw me off Irvin shouldnt have apologized, he should have been thrown in the pokey.
  13. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) I knew another guy that happened to. I believe you when you say it was bogus. From them on, you could barely stop at Winston's for a bagel without some cop yelling at you. MMMMMMM, Winstons Bagels. Who knew that such a mish-mosh of ingredients on a bagel could be so good?!
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) I was off campus in 2000 but I had two friends who weren't doing anything but walking home and got pepper sprayed. That year, it was seriously 10 idiots, think they were sophmores, that started a fire on the strip and ruined it for everyone. From the on, when the bars closed at 2am, you had to go straight home, and the police made sure of it. I was at La romas on the strip, and had one foot in the beer garden and leaned out with my other foot to see the 3 idiots rocking that poor tree from side to side(in front of Jimmy Johns and Labambas), two cops came out of nowhere and arrested me for open container and public intoxication. i still think to this day that it was bogus, I had a foot in the beer garden. Oh well though, I paid my fine. It was crazy how they busted so many people through video cameras. It used to be a safe bet that you would see someone flash you on the strip at night after the bars closed, now they arrest the girls for public nudity. I guess the cops in Carbondale are more concerned about public nudity than they are about the popularity of meth and coke within the population(and there is a big problem with both of those drugs in Carbondale).
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:06 AM) IIRC the last time I was there in late October was 1983 or 1984 and it was unbelievable. Not quite as crazy as Mardi Gras, but getting damn close. The Students tried to recapture the magic in 1990, 95, a little bit in 96, and 2000. they did nothing but get arrested, and ruin Halloween for every student after them. its a shame too, it used to be really fun, street vendors, bands, no policy about open containers. The dips***s always ruin it for everyone else.
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) I just remember the Dandy's were very pretty and really had the 'hype machine' behind them. Those two things usually mean a 1 hit wonder career. They've always been very talented, nice to see them still around. The thing about the Dandys is that they embraced their "prettiness", Courtney Taylor writes so many songs about how pretty he is and how great he is doing, I find it very funny. But instead of finding the songs egotistical and cocky, i find the songs humorous and tongue-in-cheek. Im more pumped for the Odditorium right now than I have been for an album in a long time.
  17. Can anyone post a pic of Eva Longoria in her swimsuit? Thank you.
  18. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Well it depends what you want.. A terrible defensive player, who has been known for losing games with his glove, who won't get on base a lot but will hit 275 to 300. or An average defensive player, who is known for striking out and walking a ton, who will get on base at about the same clip but we'll hit 30-50 points lower. The defense isnt what is needed. Iguchi and Ozuna could play 2nd base, and Walker could purely DH.
  19. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) Is it just me or does fried bologna sounds kinda gross? And yeah, I'm knocking it without ever trying it. If you are thinking about what Bologna is while you are eating it, then you arent gonna like it. Its one of those things thats better left unsaid.
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) Anything to take off egg stains from stucco? A friend had their house egged and the eggs have baked onto the stucco. Red white neutralizes white wine and vice versa. Toothpaste the holes in the wall when moving out of a dorm room. I think egg has to be one of the hardest things to remove once it has been sunbaked. My dad had to get our house in Carol Stream repainted when it got egged. Even after it was powerwashed, there was a sheen, presumeably from the white in the egg, that was left behind.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) We had a pretty big parking lot at my HS, so a lot of things happened to cars. A couple buddies of mine had their cars f***ed with vaselin, bologna, eggs, spray paint among other helpful objects you'd find lying around the house. One guy hit my car with a carton of eggs so I put his head through his driver's side window. Whoa! What kind of high school did you attend?!!?
  22. ^^^^ Nah, I just like it with miracle whip, cheese, lettuce, and thats it. I can eat Fried Bologna, occasionally. But I prefer Steak-ums for my fried meat heart attack special.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) Well, since this entire topic is random, let me throw something out there. I heard that if you throw a piece of bologna on the hood of a car and let it sit there on a hot day, it peels the paint off of the hood perfectly in a circle. God i love a good bologna sandwich
  24. Im jsut curious why Green Day are bigots?
