schadenfreude
Good stuff on this board: Yes, the dimensions may be a bit small. But the seats werent designed for midgets, and people actually piss in the bathrooms as opposed to whatever pole is near. Well, comparatively, it was a pretty successful season. But why would they know that, they probably think every city that isnt in New England lies just past the border of New England. ... because Game 1 wasnt a big spot, right?

ESPN gives props to Sox
I think that at least one of the announcers of the home team should be present through the playoffs. One national guy, one home guy, one sutcliffe type-ex player commentator. Its too bad ESPN didnt employ Steve Stone for the broadcasts, he is better than all of the guys they have doing the games now.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) it's been somewhat enjoyable to see that mullet-wearing douche proved wrong. His "party in back" has steadily increased during the year

Comic fans
If you can respect comics and appreciate them alot, you will probably appreciate this guys website. He really makes me laugh daveslongbox.blogspot.com At first some of his jargon was kind of confusing, but I went back and read some of his earlier blog posts and found out what he is talking about. Very creative, this guy has a good sense of humor.

Python Dies
From reading the story, it appears to me that the snake chowed on that croc, and he was probably soaking in the sun when another croc ambushed him. Its really strange that the entire croc could be inside his stomach, yet the snakes head was missing.

ESPN gives props to Sox
QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Didn't Gammons pick the White Sox in 5 games? That's what is on ESPN.com. Did Gammons decide he liked the Red Sox yesterday or something? What was the back and forth on that? I never actually heard him flip flop, but I have it on good, accountable sources(ok, maybe the chat crew isnt either of those, but they....ah nevermind) that Gammons went on the air and picked the Red Sox after he picked the White Sox in 5 in his online picks. Maybe he will just go on the air and say he was misquoted. Gammons Common Sense

Chicago @ Boston - ALDS Game 3
QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) So i guess you didn't like Pete Rose? You know there is a way to show your edge without showing up the other team....I just have never seen the intensity from FG and am anxiously awaiting to see it! Did you see Ozzie jump off the bench after gooch went yard? what should he have done? sat there and act stoic? this is a game of emotion and having fun. dont be a statue on the mound. roger clemens & nolan ryan both had that obvious edge that i am talking about. of course i will take a win anyway possible and respect your opinion alot.... I have seen Freddy show emotion on the mound. When he gets an important strikeout he swings his arm and glares while he is walking off the mound. I dont know what you expect from Freddy. Should he pump his fist every out? Maybe he should argue with the umpire when he misses a call. He is hardly a statue.

QUOTE(SoxRock192 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) I know, it is just arrogant, they also had that on Jim Rome Is Burning couple weeks back Going on Rome is different. Rome has Simmons on his show more than a few times during the year. But this is a game between the team that the book is about and another team. They could run the commercial on ESPNews, the deuce, even the Ocho if they want. But not during the game.

How'd u celebrate when Gooch went yard?

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) I enjoyed those 2 games so much. I've yelled so loud, my throat is raw and sore, and I've been poping in throat drops the last 2 days. Anyways, it was nice, now that we are in the playoffs, to hear more about or strengths than our weaknesses, to hear good things instead of negativity, to hear about how GOOD a team we are. The ESPN crew has been really gracious, and really have given the White Sox their due credit, actually, to me, making this series a lot more fun. I appreciate it greatly. GO SOX!!!!!!! You must be talking about every BBT announcer who has had to change their pick, mid-series, so that they wont look wrong. Ravich sure didnt appreciate Gammons changing his mind, and let him know last night. I really dont think that ESPN has focused on the White Sox winning as much as they have focused on what the Red Sox have to do to come back and win the series. And I am getting pretty annoyed at ESPN pimping Bill Simmons book about the Red Sox during every commercial break. It really shows their bias, if you ask me.

Chris Berman?
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 08:03 AM) Mike Greeneberg this morning said he was a diehard Yankees fan. That bothered me more than any of these nutswingers. Greenie spent years here, but obviously that effected him none. Why would this bother you? He may have interned in chicago, but he is from New York. If you moved to New York for an internship, would you expect to change allegiances?

Chicago @ Boston - ALDS Game 3
QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) freddie is too composed for my liking. i would like to see more emotion out of him before i start to really embrace him. he is given major opportunity to show us what his character as a competitor is. i hope he goes to the hill with major chip on shoulder & big time edge to kick the BOSOX booties! I have never heard of someone being "too composed". Im guessing Schilling is going in game 3, if not starting, then he will be relieving Wakefield if he runs into any trouble.

Did someone respond to that column? The post on the bottom from Michael in Chicago has a soxtalk feel to it.

Overmanaging?
Ozzie is vindicated because the score was lopsided? The method of baseball that this guy is disputing scored two quick runs before the homerun fireworks even started. btw, you can respond to this blog on SI.com if you want. There is a salty minnesota fan about halfway through the responses.

Boston @ Chicago - ALDS Game 2
Skilling's Game 2 forecast: Temperature at game time: 82 degrees Temperature at 9 p.m.: 77 degrees Winds: Nearly due South with 17 m.p.h. to 24 m.p.h. gusts The weather for Game 2 could be quite extraordinary by October standards, with rain holding off and temperatures beyond anything you could normally hope for. Much cooler air is on the way in coming days, but the front bringing it this way has slowed and appears likely to hold off until the predawn hours of Thursday. This will allow the warm air of recent days to linger through Wednesday's game. If the front has sped up overnight--like the White Sox bats--all weather bets are off. But, as it stands now, Wednesday night's weather could be warm, windy and summerlike with storms waiting until after the game

Best excuse you've heard from a Red Sox fan
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) wow, that boston message board just kills francona over and over Over what? What could he have done yesterday that would have helped the situation? Everyone knows their bullpen is in shambles, and their starting pitching isnt up to par. Their offense got shut down, pure and simple. there wasnt anything he really could have done about it.

Unplugged
QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) I'm always on the look out for acoustic versions of rock classics. Of course, I've the "easy to find" ones like Clapton's "Layla". If anyone has any available, I'd sure appreciate any help in collecting these that I can get. I have some great ones on my Ipod. Peter Gabriel "In your eyes", plenty of Bob Dylan, David Bowie "Ziggy Stardust" is fantastic acoustic, also David Bowie "The man who sold the world", Simon and Garfunkel Lots of times I find these little goodies on Limewire without even knowing it. I download it and find out that its acoustic

Curry Traded
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) In Qwerty's world the only reason we got better is because we lost Crawford. I didnt see him say that at all. He used the record to refute your assertion that Eddy and Crawford worked on the court together well. When did this happen? I certainly didnt see anything but two immature basketball players with tremendous skill, completely abandoning any sort of work ethic so that they could play one on five basketball. Lets face it, the Bulls SUCKED with those two players on the team and they were supposed to be the cornerstones. Now when Eddy is basically forced to develop a work ethic so that he could get paid, he showcases his skills until a heart problem set him back. Crawford has no such excuse. The kid can shoot. The kid cannot, or will not, defend. There was no place on the bulls for that type of player anymore. Isiah as executive of the year is f***ing hilarious. And it shows how much Crawford knows about the game.
