QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) Court TV says Jackson portrayed no significant emotion. Just stood there, as if to wonder how the hell he's a free man. I suppose now we'll find out there was a OJSimpson glove moment where the prosecutors screwed themselves and moronic jurors used it as reasonable doubt. Im telling you, the glove moment was when the mother testified. Try and find some of the CNN archived stories about her testimony, I knew as soon as I read them that he was going free.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) Pigeons symbolizing? Wow, woman on Fox NEWS is going nuts saying it is blatant Jackson was guilty and she can't believe thsi happend. And they need to give the jurors IQ tests. Is that the witness' Mom?
-
I feel this is on the prosecution. They chose poor witnesses with no credibility whatsoever. That kids mom broke the case all by herself, you cannot have a money-grubber as your key witness. If you are going up against the big boys, you better make sure all your bases are covered.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) I fully believe that its the more consistant throwing of a decent slider that has helped him this year. He is going after the batters and throwing all of his pitches for strikes, textbook He also has incorporated a wicked changeup. From what I remember last year, right before he went on the DL with his appendectomy he was on a roll similar to this. He certainly brings the intensity, thats for sure

QUOTE(valponick @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) I didn't say you didn't understand baseball. This is alot of what we say last week with the Erstad collission though, you have one side seeing it as a hard-nosed play and the other side seeing it as a cheapshot. I don't really feel like getting into an argument about that though. The thing is that I see it as hard-nosed, I dont see it as cheating. But I think coming down the line, Hunter said to himself "Im gonna make this one count, and the Sox are going to know who is in charge after I am done." And he did it. And the Sox knew who was in charge. he got into the Sox heads, that is how I see it.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) If all it takes is to run over our backup's backup catcher to make us quit than that is a team that deserves to lose, Also I think what you meant was the past 3 years. And you really think Ozzie would of let our team quit because of a play he applauded Hunter on. Here is the real reason we lost last year... No 5th starter and not having Maggz and Thomas for over half the season. What are you people reading? I didnt say "the reason the Sox lost is because Burke got hit..." I said that Hunter popped Burke and the Sox quit afterwards. You cant argue that. I know why the Sox lost last year, they had their deficiencies, injuries and a one dimensional offense. The season turned on one play. After that play, the team went on a s***ty run and ended up in second.

QUOTE(valponick @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) The reason you saw it differently is because you probably don't understand that baseball can be a contact sport and it should be played hard. Listen, dont take a quote of mine and tell me that i dont understand baseball. Everyone has a different perspective on how things go. You dont agree with mine, thats fine, but you dont hear me telling you that you dont understand the sport. I understand baseball just fine, and I see it differently than you do. thats all.

QUOTE(valponick @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) Second of all he doesn't have to respect us, his team has beaten up on us consistently for the last 3 years, 2nd place doesn't command respect. BTW, I was talking about Hunter saying for the past 4 years "Nobody respects us", I wasnt saying that Hunter has to respect the Sox. They(the Twins) like to play the "us against the world" mentality.
-
QUOTE(valponick @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) First of all his bowling over Burke wasn't a mind game, if anything the Sox did a mind-job on themselves, that was just a tough play, it happens. Second of all he doesn't have to respect us, his team has beaten up on us consistently for the last 3 years, 2nd place doesn't command respect. First of all I disagree with you. Second of all i dont care if you disagree with me. I saw it differently. Sorry.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) Frank could handle it, but he was in his 2 HR derbies when he was on the top of his game (94 and 95). It was PK that kind of fell off after the HR derby. Konerko fell off afterwards, but Frank complained that the HR derby messed up his swing and that is why he started declining the invitations.
-
QUOTE(valponick @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) Explain how Hunter is "good at mind games", is he a Jedi or something? I thought his bowling over Burke in the middle of a heated pennant race was one of his best mind games yet. he got into the Sox heads and they quit. he always played the "they dont respect us" card, and they have come out on top the past 4 years.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) Interesting.... HES TRYING TO TRICK US INTO A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY SO THEY CAN SNEAK UP ON US, RATHER THAN FEED US BULLETIN BOARD MATERIAL I dont even think that quote needs to be in green, I wouldnt put that past Hunter. He is good at mind games. The past 5 years the White Sox mouths have given the Twins all the motivation they need, Hunter knows that.

I like the acclaim and notoriety of the All Star game, but I really dont mind the team getting a small vacation to relax and prepare for the second half(more like the last third) of the season. One thing I wish I could see one more time is Frank Thomas in the HR derby, though. He was always awesome, even if it did mess up his swing a bit.

Just curious, what does this thread happen to do with "Ryno"? Is this Ryne Sandburg's column or something?

SAN DIEGO -- How good is Jon Garland starting to feel about his hot start? Garland took a moment Friday night to sarcastically call out a reporter who likened one of his rough spring outings to one of many last season in which one bad inning ended any chance he had at victory. Garland's tendency to give up the one poor inning in a game is nearly gone this season, but it drove manager Ozzie Guillen crazy in 2004. So when Garland gave up three home runs among nine hits in six innings to Oakland in a spring game March 28 of this year, the writer noted, "It wouldn't have been considered a joke to say [Garland] looked to be in midseason form.'' Garland made it known he was aware of the article, even holding a hard copy of it a few days after he pitched. He'd been invited to keep the copy and throw it in the reporter's face if he did well this season, but he claimed he was "not that type of person'' and instead threw the article in the trash. After defeating the San Diego Padres on Friday night to earn his 10th victory in the Sox' 60th game, Garland became that type of person when asked if San Diego's spacious Petco Park was a place he'd like to pitch in more often. "From what I hear,'' Garland said, sensing an opportunity. "I still had a home run hit off me. Back to midseason form, as you said.'' Garland has every right to feel smug. This season, he's 10-2 with a 3.23 ERA after a dozen starts, whereas last season at this point he was 5-3 with a 4.73 ERA. Run support can't even be cited for Garland's turnaround. The Sox had scored 73 runs in Garland's first 12 starts last season, with 69 in the same number of games this season. His 10th victory puts him on a wicked pace for 26 victories this season. At the very least, he is one of the favorites to be selected for the July 12 All-Star Game in Detroit. "If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't,'' Garland said of his potential first All-Star appearance. "I just want to go out and do what I can for my team.'' Anyone know who that reporter was? Im just curious

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 07:01 AM) Pulling Politte for Hermy is just the "give it to your closer" mentality, which I disagree with. Ozzie may be trying to establish something long term with Hermy as closer, but he has been shaky lately and Cliff has been lights out. I didn't like that move when it happened. I understand what you are saying here, but Ozzie got killed by everyone when he didnt bring in his closer and the Sox lost. Now when he is losing with Hermanson he shouldnt bring his closer in. Cliff has been lights out, but Hermanson has become the closer, so Ozzie is putting his closer in at a time when the game is close. Its what you are supposed to do (Jeff Brantley, anyone?). Im kind of hoping Ozzie goes back to the closer with the hot-hand mentality, Politte looks like he has some nasty stuff right now.

QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 08:10 AM) Do you think Nevin considers the Indians one of the best teams, because they just got swept by them before we came to San Diego. Does it matter what he thinks of us or anyone else for that case, as long as this team keeps winning, people will have to accept the fact that we are a good team. Indians won 2 of 3

QUOTE(robin_ventura_eternal @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) i specifically remember hunter dropping two fly balls, one against the sox. those cant be his only errors. i dont think hunter will win it this year. Really? This year he has dropped two balls? When? I find this very surprising, I would think any ball Hunter dropped would be a full extension dive drop, which generally isnt called an error.
