  1. Sounds like he will work out there fine with his unselfish attitude....
  2. QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) sure have but right now Rogers is at the top of his game So do you want him knowing that he will have to serve a 20 game suspension? Dont you think he might be needed for those 3 or 4 starts he will miss due to this suspension? Wouldnt that put the Sox in a bind? Come on, think through this. Rogers is not the answer to any question you ask. Who could help the Sox in the Second Half? Who could help the Sox down the stretch? Who could help the Sox in the ALDS? Who could help the Sox in the ALCS? Who could help the Sox in the World Series? He isnt a money player.
  3. LOL, this is too funny. I have read so many threads like this
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) DO you have any years to go with those numbers, because he has just really started to get dominant in the last several years. The splits that I gave a hyperlink to were the past 3 years. The post-season numbers are here http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/rogerke01.shtml about halfway down the page
  5. QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Visquel isn't any better than what we got. Schmidt hasn't proven that he's got his form back. I'd say if we are going to get someone old get Kenny Rogers at least he's proven he can pitch this year of course there would be contingency in his contract about how he should be kinder and gentler with cameramen. And while you're at it get Bagwell Frank and Bagwell both have almost the same amount of homers and could celebrate their birthday together. Remember KW in an interview money wouldn't be a problem. Get If we made the trade quickly we could have 3 starting pitchers in the all star game. green maybe? hopefully?
  6. This was my email that was read:
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) B-Mac is what Garland was then but younger. So you are ready to wait another 5 years until BMac gets it figured out? thats laughable, BMac needs some time to develop.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) For those of you all saying Griffey cant play defense this year, have you guys actually watched him at all more than once or twice if at all? This question always cracks me up. "You havent seen him, I have and you are wrong" We all see the same highlights on basically the same show(BBTN and various local outlets) and I dont see the same Junior whatsoever. Also, why the need for another oft-injured outfielder/DH? There is none. Junior isnt a pipedream, he is a pipe-bomb.
  9. Ha, Carmen and Silvy just read my email arguing against this trade. LOL
  10. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) Have You Seen Griffey play this season? Griffey is having a very good year. I am sure you have seen Rowand play this season. What exactly has Rowand done this year to make him "Aaron Almighty" in your eyes. Yes I have. And I have seen him play the first half of 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004. All of those years had the same ending. Griffey on the DL with a major injury and the Reds being the worst team in a 6 team division. I never said Aaron was almighty, in fact I mentioned his name once. Like I said, KGJ of the past would be no contest, just as Aaron being the better of the two now is no contest. Besides, if Junior ever came to the AL again he would be the DH in a heartbeat, it is ridiculous to even consider Junior starting centerfield for any AL team, no matter how desperate.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 08:04 AM) Exactly, and to say Rowand is even close to this guy defensively is a joke. Rowand does not get half the jump Junior gets. It is fine to be a homer but don't make such ridiculous statements such as Rowand is a better defensive CF than Junior. That is just nuts. This is a joke. Griffey is nowhere near where Rowand is right now in speed, athleticism, and strength. And he hasnt been for the past 5 years. Since Griffey has been in Cincinnatti, he has played 145 games, 111 games, 70, 53, and 83 games. Most of the games missed due to major injuries to his legs. He is fragile, and knows he cannot run full speed without blowing out a hamstring again and it shows. He doesnt make gold glove catches out there anymore, he barely can lay out for a fly ball anymore. When Griffey was in Seattle, sure there is no comparison. But right now Rowand is by far the superior fielder, and I dont expect that to change. http://www.basketballdraft.com/2004/scorec...fense.outfield/ In 2001, Junior suffered a hamstring injury during spring training that limited him to a handful of at-bats early in the regular season and shelved him completely until June, Torn Right Patellar Tendon(2002), Torn Right Hamstring(2004), Dislocated Right Shoulder(2003) After four years with the Reds, Griffey had played in only 58% of his team's games, and hit no higher than .286. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/scouting?statsId=4305 Lets stop living in the past. Griffey cant play a full season anymore, and cant make it to october healthy, rendering him useless to the White Sox.
  12. they posted the longest homeruns of the Homerun derby, and I was surprised that Frank wasnt on that list. I could swear he hit one 511 feet in Pittsburgh, and hit another one nearly as long in another All Star game(Cleveland?)
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) Zach Galifianakis One of my favorite comedians of the modern day. I bought Out Cold because of how funny he is in that movie, he also has a small part in Bubble Boy that had me cracking up
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Personally, Im under the opinion that if we make a deal with any team from Florida, its going to be for a hitter named Huff. With the way he hit at the Cell last week, that wouldnt bother me one bit.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) I had a family member that worked with the Charlotte Knights when Kip was there. Trust me, the organization didn't like him at all. I'm not going to state any particulars, but I'm 100 pct sure Wells won't play for the Sox again. Come on fathom, you know better than to come with the "I know somebody who knows somebody and they said, well I cant go into details...."
  16. QUOTE(Grebeck Fan Club @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 06:36 AM) Do the Sox need to make a move? That's the big question. If Marte comes back and if they stick El Duque in a freezer and thaw him out in October, where does this team need to improve? I suppose shortstop but do you want to trade two or three good prospects for a guy like Rafael Furcal? X-Box mania strikes again.
  17. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) details.....? naaaaah, more like assertions....
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) Ever since Arow got into this funk, the one thing i've noticed is that he has been over the top of almost everything other than the really high stuff. It's like he just can't get his bat to go down. He is flying out too quick trying to pull the ball. I think this homerun talk has gotten into his head, and he is trying to hit more homeruns.
  19. Somebody needs to give frank some rocket boots
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) My nightmare scenario for this wknd was way too close to happening. Anyone else feel like we're losing a lot of our momentum? Barring a comeback, we're going to get swept with our 3 best pitchers going this wknd at home. And please spare me the record reason for why we have momentum....I know exactly what our record is and place in the standings....which doesn't mean anything because there's still a ton of games left this year. A possible 3 game losing streak doesnt scare me so much. The A's have had the Sox number for a long time, this is no different. If they get swept, then the All-star break couldnt come at a better time. Im not going to call the first half a fluke because of the last 3 games.
  21. the Sox have looked so unenthusiastic the entire series. Today is no different, Cora ran the Sox out of a possible lead with his impersonation of Wendell Kim.
  22. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Hold on, she let everyone see her assets for the cash? Wow, what a classy chick. Sounds like someone I'd like to breed with. Scotty boy :headshake you look down on him for dating a bunny? LOL, I look UP to him for dating a bunny! Besides, Playboy aint bad, there are much worse skin mags to have your name associated with
  23. Watch KW go out and trade for another backup 2nd baseman.....lol
