  1. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 01:35 PM) just like we were gonna get swept in detroit? i said that?
  2. i think we're gonna feel like someone dropped a banana in our pants and turned a monkey loose after this game.
  3. smallball (n.) -- jose canseco's testicles after years of steroid use.
  4. for the last six months or so, i can't get the voice of high-pitch eric saying, "HIIIIIIIIIIIIIII DADDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!" that gets me every time the e show was great. reruns will be alright though.
  5. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) No question about it. Top 15 WHIP Rankings through June 27 with a minimum of 65 IP: 1. Pedro Martinez 0.80 WHIP 2. Roy Halladay 0.94 WHIP 3. Roger Clemens 0.95 WHIP 4. Jake Peavy 0.95 WHIP 5. Mark Prior 0.95 WHIP *64.1 IP 6. Johan Santana 0.96 WHIP 7. Mark Buehrle 1.03 WHIP 8. Jon Garland 1.06 WHIP 9. Roy Oswalt 1.08 WHIP 10. Dontrelle Willis 1.10 WHIP 11. Cris Carpenter 1.12 WHIP 12. Matt Morris 1.14 WHIP 13. Andy Pettite 1.14 WHIP 14. Freddy Garcia 1.16 WHIP 15. Chris Young 1.16 WHIP That is f***ing beautiful. Garcia's WHIP ratio is going up after today's performance as well with 5 hits and 1 walk allowed in 9 innings. the important thing is they are 3, 4, and 5 in the american league. that's just sick. and you meant his whip is going down after today, right?
  6. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) Emil Brown is the closest thing they have to an all-star. I know, it's pathetic. i know i'm getting off topic, but with the all-star GAME allegedly meaning something these days, every team shouldn't get an all-star
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) Quiet you. not for nothing, but who is going to be the royals' all-star? emil brown? jesus.
  8. QUOTE(toasty @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) assuming the yankees release stanton and quantrill, should the sox look at either of them, at least perhaps minor league deal to see if they can get straight? interesting question. i'd say yes to stanton. his era chugs serious donkey penis, but he's been pretty good against lefties this season. i think they might be hitting below .200 against him. if we only used him as a specialist, he could be useful. quantrill, on the other hand, couldn't get me out.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) How the f*** do you not put a player with 19HRs and 53 RBI in the poll? there's a strong anti-konerko sentiment out there in chitown, methinks
  10. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) How many pitchers go? anyway, here are my locks to go: Buehrle Garland Halladay colon clement guardado Rivera santana Players with a good shot IMO Cliff Lee Miguel Bautista BJ Ryan Chris young Freddy Garcia wow, you didn't put cliff politte on there? prepare to meet your maker!
  11. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) I'm not even complaining about that. That's play-by-play and helps those who can't see the game. My problem is with posts like "Dye flies out, we totally suck today, f*** Dye, etc". I'm guilty of some of this stuff too. Thats why I've tried to stay out of there while the game is taking place. The emotions of the game sometimes override rational thought. but let's say you have the internet and can't see the game. aren't you going to just watch the game on mlb.com or cbssportsline? i agree though. the constant b****ing and knee jerk reactions do get boring and tiresome.
  12. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) This is an amazing site, but the one thing I try and stay away from is the game threads (even though I end up there on occassion). Little sense is ever made there and the overly dramatic mood swings are maddening. I'm not criticizing anybody...its a good place to vent frustrations, but it'll drive you nuts if you are looking for rational well thought analyzation. game threads would be great if actual discussion took place there. the constant "dye flies out. 2 outs" and the like are useless. about 8 percent of it is good.
  13. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) i personally think your looking for something to complain about. Who else would notice this and start a thread about it? put this :finger on the board
  14. I was at Devils-Ducks Game 7. Let me tell you -- flat out amazing. If you ever get the chance to attend a Game 7 of a finals of a team you love at home, do it. It was 0-0 after one, and the building was so tense it was ready to explode. I remember in between periods, just utter nervousness in the bathroom. Then they scored that first goal in the second. Place exploded. Just amazing. Then in the third, it was 2-0 till about 4 minutes left, when Jeff Friesen scored on a mini-breakaway off the boards to ice it, and I never, ever, ever head a building get as loud as it did when he scored. Relief, joy and ecstacy all rolled into one. Best part was, after the game, I called up Martin Brodeur on his cell and congratulated him. I got the number when I heard him giving it out to a waitress at Applebee's two months earlier. The full story of all this is by far the best sports story I'll ever be apart of.
  15. i really didn't want to debate our chances in a postseason series with anaheim and boston. i wanted to find out why we aren't considered what we are -- the best team in baseball.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) I thought you were supposed to go into the playoffs with good pitching? Like Jersey said, I am not scared of what Anaheim throws to the bump after Bartolo. And give me a Mark-Bartolo matchup, and I will take Mark 7 days of the week. Boston is scary with Schiiling and Clement, but lets see how Curt comes back. even if schilling is so-so, their pitching is good enough considering how lethal that offense is. i can see garland getting pounded in Fenway.
  17. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) I think Anaheim has an edge over us, if not Boston also. One of those two will eliminate us should we make it to the postseason, baring a move by Kenny. i'll give you boston. but anaheim? you're drunk. after colon, they have nothing. Jarrod Washburn? Paul Byrd? Scary.
  18. the thing that really gave me the red ass was harold reynolds the other night saying the Angels were the best team in the AL. that's where this sort of stems from.
  19. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) We're not the best team in baseball. We do, however, have the best record. who is the better team then? and why?
  20. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) I saw it in New York yesterday. I think it is a national spot. us folks in jersey are always a little slow.
  21. But whenever the White Sox are mentioned on Baseball Tonight or SportsCenter or the Best Damn Sports Around the Horn That Pardons The Interruption Show, they are ALWAYS referred to as "the team with the best record in baseball," never, "the best team in baseball."? Does anyone else notice this? Is it just me? Am I crazy? Bugs the balls off of me.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) I saw this commercial this morning; I thought it was kind of funny/cool to see the Sox were in it. i don't think this is a national exposure.
  23. QUOTE(BuehrleTheAce @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) Just because you didn't put him on the list, I pick Konerko. what he said
  24. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) Yes, exactly. We don't need a 30-40 homer a year guy with 100+ RBI's, who is becoming the team leader. Let's all clamor to break up the Sox and go with a bunch of cheap free agents. I think we need to be careful of what we wish for because we just might get it and next year be wallowing in the basement of the AL Central. no no. ross gload is awesome. he hit .324 in 2004 in 234 ABs. he's a stud. an every day player who is always healthy. clearly what we need is to sign more pitchers.
  25. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Wow :banghead Ross Gload+8-10 mil to spend in FA>>Konerko But what's the sense is using logic spend it on who, exactly? konerko's been killing us with his 30 homer, 100 RBI seasons for awhile now, and i want to get rid of him too.
