QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 1, 2008 -> 10:04 PM) except for the Register Poll. in that i'm actually right - it's not spin. 60% were new voters and 45% were independents or republicans. That is NOT a good basis for an accurate poll. not even you can deny that. LINK

Interesting read on the lower tiered Dems. LINK

QUOTE(bmags @ Dec 29, 2007 -> 07:25 PM) the early dialogue in juno turned me off initially. The movie got better in the second half when the screenwriter toned down the ridiculous references. I completely agree. I enjoyed the movie but the dialogue, although I enjoyed it, seemed unnaturally witty. Reminded me of the Gilmore Girls. Are there 15 and 16 year olds out there that really talk this way?

Well I for one can't wait till Friday morning. All this bickering and nitpicking in Iowa is getting tiresome.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 1, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) because Edwards is closest to them in ideology and Kucinich supporters are smart people who care about the issues. Obama and Kucinich are about as far apart on the issues as possible. The statement Kucinich made was out of a personal dislike for Edwards - not a policy move. Nice attempt at spin. I'm not buying it. If the final Des Moines register poll had Edwards at 32% then it would be a good poll that has been historically accurate. Since it had Obama in the lead it's faulty. If Kucinich asked his supporters to choose Edwards as a 2nd choice candidate then it would be a big deal for the Edwards campaign. Since he chose Obama it's irrelevant and his supporters probably wouldn't listen to his request anyway.

New Strategic Vision poll: Obama 32% Edwards 29% Clinton 27% Link

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 1, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) my point is that Kucinich people wont all go to Obama. Many will just leave, many will be to stuck in their ways to go to Obama and will probably go Edwards, and then some WILL go to Obama. So now you are an expert on what Kucinich supporters will do on Thursday? What evidence do you have that they "will probably go Edwards" as you say....other than the fact that you support Edwards?
-
QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 1, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) And Nader endorsed Edwards so that'll split that wacko left wing vote btw Obama and Edwards If Kucinich only gets 1 or 2% support in a precinct and they all wind up going to Obama then that is huge. Nadar isn't even on the ballot so his endorsement is irrelevant since there is no 2nd choice opportunity.

Kucinich asks supporters to choose Obama as 2nd choice.

I think it's a load of crap that Ron Paul won't be invited to the Fox debate.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 1, 2008 -> 08:16 AM) seems to me to a be a pretty big outlier - none of the other polls are anywhere near those numbers. but regardless, maybe he's bouncing back. who knows. all of this really is entirely up in the air. I do know that their final poll in 2004 had the top 4 predicted correctly. This one may be too jumbled and close to pick correctly though. As long as Hillary finishes 4th or worse I'll be happy. I've become an ABC (anyone but Hillary) person in the last 2 months.

Memo issued today from the Biden camp:

QUOTE(Reddy @ Dec 31, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) lol wow. which would you have picked? and by the way - he only made so much money as a trial lawyer because he was DAMN GOOD. He worked his ASS off and was an incredible lawyer. Edwards had one term as a Senator and had nothing to show for it. He voted for the war in Iraq without even reading the intelligence reports. He has zero foreign policy credentials and seems as genuine as a used car salesman. QUOTE(Reddy @ Dec 31, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) and remind me what barack obama has accomplished with his life? Perhaps you should read up on him a bit. He's done much more in his term as a US Senator than Edwards. Edwards was schooled by Cheney in the past presidential debates and couldn't even carry his state for Kerry. He has almost no money left after Iowa and has no chance to get the nomination.
-
QUOTE(Reddy @ Dec 31, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) again, why cant rich people be nice? why can't rich people help the poor? his wealth has absolutely NOTHING to do with anything. Two people finish college and have a choice. One becomes a trial lawyer and becomes a multi-millionaire and the other becomes a civil rights lawyer who fights for impoverished people for chump change. Just saying.
-
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 31, 2007 -> 02:10 PM) He is making his campaign about "two americas", he is fair game for charging these fees for talking about poverty and his 'supercuts'. I find it hard to believe that someone with a 28000 sq ft home can connect with the poor.

One thing the polls aren't showing is how many Republicans will vote for a Dem candidate. When I canvassed in Iowa I met quite a few families that had mixed Dems/Republicans in households and the entire household was planning to caucus for Obama. He does very well with Independents as well as Republicans who are fed up with their party and weak choice of candidates.

Edwards backer funds questionable gift of $495K to 527 group.

The other candidates wish they could get the crowds Obama has been getting. No one has generated as much excitement this campaign season even without Oprah at the events.

Without going back to read earlier posts, I agree with those annoyed by the CGI in "I Am Legend". After watching "The Descent" and "28 Days Later" I wonder why anyone would think CGI would be scarier. It practically ruined the movie for me.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 10:57 AM) And if she wins the nomination, you'll be supporting Ms. GB Lite 100%. Don't speak for me because I won't.

She's turning into George Bush Lite.

QUOTE(BureauEmployee171 @ Dec 27, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) Just vote Libertarian if you like to have money. If you like to have ppl take your money, vote REP/DEM Sometimes money isn't all that matters to people.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Dec 27, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) Obama wasn't IN the senate to make that decision at the time. Convenient. I really hate that line. If he'd been there he would've done the same goddamned thing. But what can you really point to that Edwards has accomplished? Not much as his brief term in the Senate was not memorable.
-
Obama actually passed an ethics reform bill during his brief term as Senator. What has Edwards done besides vote for the Iraq war?
