QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 08:53 AM) Being a politician, why would he NOT want to wear a flag pin? He wraps himself up in the right suits, why not add a pin? He doesn't have to start pointing to it and screaming about how patriotic he is, but why NOT wear it? What points can he be loking to score? Oh wait, he wants us to see his patriotism in his character. Sounds nice. But still doesn't answer the question of why not wear a pin? What can it hurt? I am completely baffled that you find this to be an issue. This is partisanship at its highest. There is a negative 1 million % chance that you would bring this up if it were Fred Thompson and not Obama.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Oct 5, 2007 -> 08:15 AM) I believe on paper the cubs are as good as anyone in the NL but maybe number 8 in the AL. That said they were never tested all season and the Brewers played down to them. When was the last time they won a series against an above .500 team?

This flag pin thing reminds me of when the Daily Show was making fun of the '04 candidates and showing footage of their speeches. Apparently they were trying to one up each other by putting more and more American flags in the background. Was completely ridiculous. Anyone who thinks this flag pin thing is a serious issue needs to get a clue. GMAFB.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 11:57 PM) Tex, think about his line there. He won't wear it beacuse it has come to stand for patriotism. WHY IS THAT BAD? Does he hate his country? Is he not a patriot? Is he ashamed of the flag, or looking to score points with the commie-fringe of the Dem party? I keep googling pictures of Fred Thompson. Where is his flag pin?!?!? I thought he was a patriot but I guess I was wrong. Guess I'll have to vote for someone else now.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 12:43 PM) I would suppose he will be resigning now. Think again. -
QUOTE(vandy125 @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 01:39 PM) Story showed up on Digg and may be getting too much traffic for the web site. Here is another link without the pretty graphics from the first. Business Week Link Bravo! I love reading about things like this.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 12:34 PM) I get an error when I click that link. Likewise.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 12:23 PM) re: bold, I agree wholeheartedly. I love their NBA coverage. Their baseball stuff needs a little time to get right but I feel they will be a much better alternative to the East Coast Sports Network.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 4, 2007 -> 11:06 AM) Every single word that flops out of Ron Santo's mouth is 100 times worse than the worst call Hawk's ever made. Santo is beyond atrocious. Even calling him an embarrassment doesn't really convey just how bad he is. Pat Hughes deserves combat pay for dealing with that imbecile. No kidding. Do Cub fans actually enjoy listening to him? He is unbearable.

Woohoo! I just woke up with a smile.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 08:32 PM) Hey, for 41, she's not bad. She looks like she's got some weight to hide in that sheet that she's wearing. And look at those thick arms.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) That will undoubtedly help them, but to say that 21/22 mpg is "impressive" is like a bad joke. The average non-hybrid car does better than that. No kidding. I got a chuckle out of that when I first read it.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) Adam Dunn The pirates, and the redbirds Pittsburgh manager Jim Tracy characterized the outfield as "horrendous," saying it was not of major league caliber and was as bad as he'd ever seen in the big leagues. "It's rock-hard, it's as fast as turf, but it looks like there's been a dozen cows out there grazing this week," Pirates left fielder Nate McLouth said. "I'm surprised more people don't get injured out there. It's as bad as there is," said Reds left fielder Adam Dunn. "It's worse than playing in a parking lot. It looks like they had a monster truck rally. It's terrible. There's potholes. It's bad. It's unsafe." It's called beautiful Wrigley Field, but the players who play there see it a bit differently. Phillies center fielder Aaron Rowand is the latest to criticize the actual playing surface at Wrigley that is considered by many to be among the worst in baseball. That surface out there is a little beat up," Bucs center fielder Nyjer Morgan said. "There were some nasty little hops out there. You had to be cautious. It wasn't pristine like it was in San Diego." You must have made all that up. Wrigley Field is by far the best baseball facility in MLB. I hope they keep that thing up for another 100 years.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) I don't worship Wrigley. I just think it's delightful, and I think that of a few other ballparks as well. Minimal advertisements. Full crowd, always. Green grass, ivy padded walls, comfortable rows and aisles. And I'm definitely not alone, and I'm not even just joined by Cub fans. People from Barry Zito to most baseball writers to many baseball players all love Wrigley Field. Are you a hobbit?
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) We've been through this "Wrigley sucks" nonsense before. I think you guys who hate Wrigley Field have got penis envy. "Oh, my Cubs neighbor will make fun of me." "Oh, the media will care more about the Cubs than the Sox." "Oh, our ballpark is newer -- and it's made of advertisings, not steel, so it's unique!" I honestly think the park is a piece of crap. I tried to like it the few times I've been there but I don't get it. If the place had 10K fans in it all the time instead of a full house you most likely wouldn't worship it the way you do.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) You act like I've never said anything about our ballpark. I like our ballpark okay, as far as aesthetics and appeal (and besides, it's a baseball ballpark, which is good enough for me) but it's nowhere near my list of top ballparks I've been to. I think I actually enjoy most minor league ballparks better, though not the teams. And Wrigley, not to mention. Will you be at Murphy's bleachers this evening?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2007 -> 03:17 PM) I'm not even saying it is a bad idea, but it just gives the numbers some perspective. It is equating the guy who gives $2300 to the guy who spends $5 on a bumpersticker. If someone were to buy an Obama t-shirt from his website for $20 it's probably because they support him and will likely vote for him. Why candidates haven't done this sort of thing in the past is beyond me.
-
Great. Will I need to adopt another candidate soon?
