  1. QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 09:41 AM) One more gun in the hands of a responsible person on that campus would have stopped this. Really? If that person pulled out their gun what if others thought that he/she was part of the shooting spree and they decided to shoot at that person. Wouldn't chaos ensue? How do you know who the good guy is when you hear shots being fired and you see someone holding a gun down the hallway? Do you just shoot at anyone holding a gun? Where do we draw the line? A crazed shooting can occur anywhere not just at a school. Should people bring guns to Chuck E Cheese for their kid's birthday party in case a crazed gunman comes by?
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 09:34 AM) Well you can live in a world based in fear... Meaning?
  3. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 09:26 AM) That's just a flawed argument based on emotions and not reason. Besides, its not like they'd be handing out guns at the doors. Only people who really wanted to get CCW permits and pay several hundred dollars for guns would be carrying. Given the amount of armed robberies on campus here lately, maybe these thugs would think twice if they knew their victim my also be packing. Well you can live in a world based in fear but I'd rather have a no gun policy at school or work. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 09:28 AM) I would be more than happy to debate. When you leave your classroom and see a guy down the hall carrying a gun, shooting, he quickly turns as he hears you approaching, do you shoot at him? Too bad, you just murdered someone, that's a guy shooting at the *real* shooter. Now picture the scene when you apologize to his mother for killing her son because you thought he was the shooter, or apologizing to a husband because you missed the shooter and killed an innocent bystander. How much regular practice and training do you have with your weapon? Are you looking at the background in case you miss? Imagine twelve people running around with guns when the cops arrive? Who do they shoot first? Excellent points. I really don't think a shoot out ala the old wild west is the answer.
  4. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 09:09 AM) I don't see how anyone right now can argue against a concealed carry law. You can see the result of guns being banned on the VTU campus. I don't see how there can be any debate on this subject. I can argue against. I wouldn't feel safe if everyone at school carried a concealed gun.
  5. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 08:31 AM) how is Robinson Tejada? Expected to pitch tonight so I guess he's fine.
  6. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) I certainly didn't expect as much resistance once 90% of the Iraqi army was defeated or surrendered. I didn't realize they were taking your opinions into consideration before the invasion.
  7. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) It would also make it very hard buy in the city for the next decade because real estate is gonna sky rocket. Why would that be the case? Did this happen in Atlanta?

  9. QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 12:58 PM) Tada was awful in the 7th spot last year in ST, he was awful there this year in ST, and he has been awful there so far this year. I dont know what else Ozzie needs to see, Iguchi has shown Ozzie just how uncomfortable he is down there. Its not even that the announcers say it too, Iguchi just looks like a bad hitter with bad tendencies hitting lower in the order like that. DJ was saying yesterday how when Tada is letting the ball get deep on him on driving it hard to Right field we know Iguchi is locked in, and now now hes kinda of going out to get the ball and trying to pull everything hard to left. Not good approaches at the plate. Thats why I say Iguchi hitting in the 2 hole "forces" him to be that better hitter he can be; seeing more pitches, letting the ball get deeper on him, trying to hit behind the runner, etc. Its just about time Ozzie noticed this trend for himself. How dare you question Ozzie. We won a World Series with him as our manager. How many World Series has joeynach won for us?
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 11:20 AM) And 90 percent of that is due to our 3,4,5,6, hitters who should be producing at a high rate. You can also add the #2 hitter.
  11. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 11:10 AM) Yea, because HE controls all of that. Give me a break. You have to admit his negatives have greatly outweighed his positives. It is very difficult to come up with a list of positive accomplishments during his reign.
  12. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 11:17 AM) Nobody in MLB is comfortable at this point, not with this weather. Runs are down 3 per game. I don't think Uribe will be our best hitter over the course of the entire season. At least, I really hope not...if he is, you can cancel the post-game show. As bad as everyone is hitting in baseball we are still 30th in hitting.
  13. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) Besides, Erstad could always be there on the bench for when we need that crucial groundout to the 2B late in a game. LOL. No one can ground out to 2B as well as grindErstad.
  14. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) We need to get the job done against teams like the Royals, Mariners, Orioles, etc. Whoever can beat the teams they're supposed to beat will win this division. I don't care what team we're playing but we need to beat the bad pitchers that we face on a regular basis. Sowers, Bryd, etc. We can't keep getting shut down by no namers as well as the Santanas and Sabathias out there.
  15. 12 games and 38 runs. That is plain awful.
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) Here is a challenge for anyone on this board - show me any single thing this President has done since about 1/1/03 that has been positive. Here's a list of accomplishments that I copied from another message board:
  17. The Sox now have the worst team batting average in baseball at .222 and are 13th out of 14 AL teams in scoring runs with 38 (25th overall).
  18. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 10:11 AM) The policies set by the Bushies have been listening to the libs (I know, what an oxymoron) trying to not inflict too much damage so they could try to keep them "on board" longer - which they weren't in the first place, so why bother? Now, we're seeing the results. Since when has Bush succumbed to appease the liberals with regards to this war? Give me evidence of this claim of yours. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 10:11 AM) If you don't go into a war to win (as opposed to appeasement), forget it. And I will agree with BigSqwert's hidden implication that we were never there to "win" in the first place, so we shouldn't have gone in. I wouldn't say we were never there to "win" in the first place. I honestly think they thought they'd be greeted as liberators and that flowers would be thrown at their feet. EDIT: Seems that StrangeSox and I think alike.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 09:22 AM) But we did... and so now, the next best thing is to "get the hell out" (at any cost). WOOT! Sure beats staying there for the next 50 years. I'd rather see the billions of dollars spent there being used on health care, poverty, infrastructure, alternative fuel research, etc.
  20. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 09:11 AM) Congratulations, you people on the hard left... you got EXACTLY what you wanted. Really? I wanted us to never go to war with Iraq so I didn't get EXACTLY what I wanted.
  21. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) As I said before, Dye should just be left off the roster until the weather warms up. He is just as useless as he was to start the season in 2005. What was that?
  22. Looking at the Tiger game and it looks like the loss of Rogers is going to hurt them more than I thought. Durbin's 2nd start as bad as his first one.
