  1. QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 12:23 PM) Yeah, the Sox should re-hire Jerry Manuel or Terry Bevington. Because, you know, ANYBODY is better than Ozzie. We are criticizing moves made by the current manager, not comparing him to other managers.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 12:18 PM) You mean when his noodle arm allowed Burke to score on a liner to shallow left field when he had the ball before the runner started for home? Indeed. Any decent LF would have either thrown out the guy at home or at least kept the runner from trying to score.
  3. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 12:12 PM) Pods hit that homer in the 5th inning. It's ridiculous to say that wanting Pods replaced in the field in the 9th inning equates to wanting him replaced in the 5th. Putting in defensive replacements in the 9th inning with a lead is a pretty standard managing practice. Ozzie has done it with Konerko in the past when Gload was on the team. It's not overly criticial to suggest that Ozzie should have had his best defensive outfield out there. Sure, the loss is due to the Sox anemic offense and Jenks pithcing poorly. But it's also due to terrible managing. Getting palyers to hit or pitch better is hard. Putting a better LF out there is easy. That's why people here are annoyed -- there was a simple move to make that would have increased the chances of victory and Ozzie failed to make it. I'm sure Ozzie is a better manager than I would be, but he screwed up last night. Nicely stated.
  4. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 12:04 PM) Except its usually first-guessing Ozzie's managerial mishaps. So true. Most game threads have people question Guillen's moves (or non-moves) as they occur.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 11:58 AM) If your offense is so anemic, then you better make sure you do everything you can in order to get a run home when you have a runner on 3rd, no outs in the 7th inning. That's the move that really irks me. I didn't watch last night's game but it sounds like the same old story. No situational hitting and home run swings. Walker should have been replaced a long time ago.
  6. QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 11:51 AM) But it shouldn't be relied on to bail out an anemic offense and poor relief pitching. But since our hitting is so anemic right now you have to rely on your best defense and pitching scenarios in order to give your team a fighting chance. Ozzie put in his best pitching option and that didn't work out. He did not utilize his best defensive options.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 11:47 AM) BTW, I have to get this in as many places as I can. It's too good. That is sad.
  8. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 11:06 AM) Pitching match-ups for Cleveland look manageable. Other than Sabathia and Santana, the Twins and Indians have pretty mediocre starting pitching. Still trying to figure out why so many "experts" have them ahead of the Sox.
  9. Why is Greg Walker still on this staff?
  10. QUOTE(iamshack @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 09:46 AM) This loss is on Bobby, and no one else. I'd like to throw a little blame on our vaunted offense by managing to get 1 run on 3 hits vs some guy named Cy Gaudin.
  11. Sox are hitting .216 as a team. Pathetic.
  12. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 09:28 AM) There is no way that you can argue that BA's and Erstad's defense aren't substantially better than the noodle-armed sally. In a 1-0 game in late innings, you make defensive substitutions for poor-fielding OF's. Nobody would care about Pods being out there in the 9th if our vaunted offense could get more than 3 hits off a no name loser.
  13. Our offense is a joke right now. They better get their ass in gear.
  14. Whoah! Jamie Kotsay looking mighty fine. EDIT - At least from behind.
  15. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 04:25 PM) Control + Option + Shift + 2xRightclick = Cheat in Chinese Frogs. If you press "Spacebar + F5 + Page Up" the frogs will sing.
  16. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 04:22 PM) Get hammered, bring a kazoo Or this http://tinyurl.com/27swwf
  17. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) 4th in the division and behind the Cubs. Gotta love it. Also, the 1-6 Phillies are ahead of us.
  18. CBS sportsline has us at #18. Was updated today. Imbeciles. http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/powerrankings
  19. I take back anything positive I might have said about Marquis and Lilly.
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) And before the inevitable non-answers come out, I am not asking about what he HASN'T done, nor am I asking who might or might not have done better. I'm simply asking, what positives has he accomplished in the last 4 years? I expect to hear crickets as a response.
  21. LOL. Izturis with his 3rd error today.
  22. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 01:29 PM) The Cubs are off to a fantastic start this game. Down 3-0 to the Astros in the first. I can pretend that I don't care about what happens on the north side but when I hear things like this I smile inside.
  23. Jeff Weaver is solid.
  24. This really is a dumb thread and a stupid question to be asked of Sox fans.
  25. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 06:47 AM) ...but i still say that division games mean more than non-division games... Because we all know how many ties for first place occur at the end of each season. Gotta have that tie breaker!
