  1. My vote goes for Frank. Notice how there aren't any more "This offense sucks" threads since he's been back? He makes the offense seem more condifent IMO. He works the opposing pitcher, makes the hitters around him better and for God's sake he's Frank Thomas, the best Sox hitter of all time.
  2. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) After the past three days, the Brewers are rapidly becoming my second favorite team in baseball. Lets hope they can slap Johan Santana around tomorrow.
  3. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) Tribe lost to Cincinatti (hahaha) Twinks are in the 9th against Milwaukee and losing 1-3... (hahaha) heeeYES Doh! Beat you to it!
  4. Twins lose. Indians lose. This season is getting better and better each day. Damn I wish it were September already.
  5. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) I tend to agree that a POWER PITCHER is what we lack. We have a lot of guys who are more the "finesse" type, which candidly don't have as much success in the playoffs when the strike zone mysteriously becomes a little smaller. We need a guy who can take the ball in a game when we need it and put the opponents on the defensive. I don't give a damn if he's a #1 or a #5 right now - as long as that requirement is met, go get him, and trade talent to get it, because it will put us "over the top". Amen to that!
  6. If we can get to their pen early then we are golden. They have been overused lately and Prior won't be pitching a complete game on Sunday. I smell a sweep.
  7. Big props to Pablo for stepping in a doing a great job. It's like having another lead-off guy in the bottom of the order.
  8. I don't remember....does Maddux take a long time to throw to the plate? If so, Scottie and Co may have a field day.
  9. Dontrelle gets the MLB front page on ESPN.com for his 12th win and an article about him. Garland, who was the first to 12 wins, had a side note article earlier this week. Another example of the downplay of the Sox. Hey ESPN.... :finger
  10. What was really pathetic about the interview was the fact that Jason doesn't think that Ozzie's mouth will be a negative this year but potentially a year or 2 down the line. Lets not talk about what a dominating team the Sox are this year. Lets talk about what MIGHT happen a couple years later with the loud-mouth manager.
  11. Listening to 810 AM radio here in KC. They just had Jason Stark (or is it Starks?) from ESPN. The host asked him what he thought of Ozzie Guillen. Jason ripped Ozzie to shreds. Saying that it was a huge mistake for the Sox to give him an extention and that he could count the number of teams that would want Ozzie as their manager on one hand....and there would be fingers left over. He was mostly beefing about how Ozzie speaks his mind too much and eventually it'll wear thin on the team and fans. He also didn't think this team could go all the way. Hey Jason...... :finger
  12. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) last 7 games - average attendance 29,844 pretty sweet. Wait till late in the season when everyone will speculate when we will clinch the central. Attendance will definitely be soaring. I know I'll be at almost every home game in September.
  13. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) I still want to know why people automatically consider McCarthy to be a good 6th starter for us. What has he done for us so far? He really hasn't done anything different than what Felix Diaz did for us last season. Remember how Diaz pitched that one good game against the Cubs and was brutal against everyone else? It's eerily similar to that, isn't it? McCarthy obviously isn't ready for the big leagues. You're right. I never get too excited about one of our prospects no matter how highly touted. For every Mark Buehrle there are 10 Scott Ruffcorns and Joe Borchards. I'll get excited about BMAC once he starts getting guys out on a consistent basis in the big leagues. I may sound a bit pessimistic but how many guys really pan out? I'm confident this guy eventually will but until he does I'm not going to sport a woody.
  14. That's good to hear. I hope they actually do it since he seems to be so damn fragile. El Duque that is.
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) What type of neighborhood do the Royals play in? The Sox have outdrawn them for years. I went to the game on Sunday. It's basically in the middle of nowhere off the interstate. Nice park though. I'd say it's a bit underrated.
  16. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) not sure what else they said, but everything that you put in your post that they said (wrigley drawing more, not the best of neighborhoods) is exactly right. stop taking it so personally. those two things that you brought up are facts. its the damn truth, just accept it They were implying that the neighborhood was a rough part of town. They weren't making it out as if the neighborhood wasn't a good party place like Wrigley. That's what I took offense to.
  17. So I'm working in Kansas City until Wednesday. The hotel I'm staying at doesn't carry the network that carries the Royals games so I'm forced to listen to AM 810 radio. These guys were annoying the heck out of me. They kept bringing up the atttendance of Comiskey and how much better Wrigley draws. The one guy even said something like "Well you really can't blame people for not coming to this park. It's not in one of the best neighborhoods." What a bunch of tools. Enjoy the AL basement with your crappy team. :finger
  18. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) I would rather have Jon go than BMac. I agree. The Flubs are actually hitting the ball well lately. They might be the best hitting team in the NL these days but not sure about that. I'd much rather see Jon in that situation.
  19. I know it was only one game but I really don't think BMAC is ready to join this team. A pretty poor outing against the lowly Royals. No Ks and 4BBs won't cut it. I know the Royals are better recently but they are not world beaters. With El Duque consistently getting shoulder problems is it time to start looking around for a solid/consistent arm? I say yes since this is as good a chance for us to get in the World Series as I have seen in my lifetime. BMAC needs to be sent down to Charlotte to regain his confidence and hopefully he'll be ready for next year's team. I don't want to sound like I'm panicking but I sort of am.....I REALLY want this team to go all the way and one more solid starter could put us over the top.
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 07:41 AM) I am considering driving from Michigan to attend my first game of 2005 tonight. Anyone want to hang out at the game? I'll buy a beverage for you. Half price ticket night! I would take you up if I were in town. Unfortunately I'm in KC this week for work...how ironic. I did get to go to the KC/Houston game in Kaufmann yesterday. Nice park. And keep an eye on the rookie 3B for the Royals. He was flashing some leather yesterday and could be an up and coming star for the Royals which isn't saying much.
  21. We could be going for our 50th win on Friday against the flubs. How sweet would that be?
  22. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Good point but Freddy was already at 111 pitches. Was anyone surprised that he gave up a run in the 8th? I'm with you....thought it was a bad move. Besides the BP hasn't been used in the last 2 days. DH is getting cobwebs.
  23. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 18, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) Ozzie still made a mistake throwing Freddy back out there in the 8th inning. That is irrefutable. He had 111 pitches at that point and finished with 120. Is Ozzie Dusty Baker or something? Maybe he's worried that Contreras is pitching tomorrow and wants to save the BP for tomorrow.
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) This is the best team the twins have had since their run began imo. I disagree. They have had better defensive teams. Seems like they have an error or two everynight and several of those have cost them games this year. But I'm not complaining.
  25. Great to see a win like this. I, like many here, thought the boys would have laid an egg after rthe D-Backs scored 5 runs in that inning.
